Death Mountain

Hmm, I think I have an answer to the "Is Link Left or Right handed?" questions.

Many people seen Link using both right + left hand in battle with the sword, but if I heard correctly, Link isn't switching swords positions really, but sheilds.

I heard somewhere (Can't remember what site) that Link always makes his shield face Death Mountain to repel spirits from attacking him. (Yeah it does sound kind of bogous, but at the same time logical)

Any of you know if this right or not?

This theory makes absolutely no sense to me.

Re: Death Mountain

Nintendo was lazy with the sprites in one of their games (can't remember which) so they just mirrored the sprites instead of making separate ones for each direction. So when fans responded, they came up with the bull**** about how he always faces his shield toward Death Mountain to "repel evil."

Ah, now it all makes sense, so its just a hoax created by fans. Figures, the theory made no sense about the spirits and all, thanks for clearing that up.

Lazy? I don't think they had the technology back in the eighties. As for his shield always facing Death Mountain, that's not true AT ALL. In LoZ it faces AWAY from Death Mountain.

Re: Death Mountain

There are different Links. Maybe one is left-handed, and another right-handed. In OoT, Link was left-handed. So if he was right-handed in MM, Nintendo doesn't look at the right-/left-handity of Link. However, I think Link was left-handed in MM. That means the Link from OoT and MM is left-handed, no discussion possible about that. Now the other games...

Re: Death Mountain

Link has always been left-handed. As Sear said, they mirrored the sprite in multiple games. However, if you look in Link's Awakening, they didn't (for once). In that, he has the sword in his left hand, no matter what direction he is facing. In the games where they do flip the sprite, Link has his sword in his left hand when facing both up and down.
Also, check out the Adventure of Link manual. In the storyline, it specifically states that Link took his magic sword in his left hand and his magic shield in his right.

Before anyone brings this up- if Link is portrayed as a right hander in the official art, the image is mirrored.

Exactly.

And who else agrees that Links Awakening had the best sword/shield system out of all the 2D games?

The GC version is superior overall - admit it.

Link's Awakening was the best 2D Zelda game. Period.

Yeah, that too.

They should remake the game for the Revolution! How hard could it be? They could finish it in much less than a year and guarantee us a Zelda launch title! Just imagine, if you took the essence of LA and stripped away all the technological limitations imposed by the original GB hardware, you have what could potentially be the greatest Zelda ever!

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Revolutionary Awakening

I can see it now...

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Revolutionary Awakening

I can see it now...
I'm still dreamin'...
LA should be remade with better graphics and such... But no, not 3D. I think that would suck.

I Agree with you, facing death mountain to repel evil, ja. Why not aim it at gerudo valley were the evil king came from.

Re: Death Mountain

Because Gerudo Valley wasn't around until Ocarina of Time. This excuse was made with the first Zelda, I believe.

And what's funny is that his shield faces AWAY from Death Mountain in that game.

Re: Death Mountain

Didn't Miyamoto make a point of making Link left-handed because he himself is a lefty? I'm sure I read that somewhere.

And from what I've heard, Revolution will be able to download all the old Nintendo games onto it. Maybe not obscure ones, but I'm sure the Mario/Zelda/Mario Kart/big franchise games will be available.

And EarthBound, baby! Can't forget EarthBound!

I read that all first party Nintendo games will be free to download, while 3rd parties will choose whether to charge us or not for their games. I say all of it should be free; it would make the Revolution a smash! I mean, who would pay for old games? I see this service as an illegal emulation killer, but the only way it's gonna work is if it's all free.

Re: Death Mountain

Wow, you people care about the littlest things. It doesn't matter, and the repel evil theory is just crap....
