Aren't there supposed to be more male Gerudos?

It says in OOT that every 100 years that another male gerudo is born. The timeline of Zelda, if it even does follow a timeline, spans over a hundred years, so why isn't there any more male gerudos?

Hm...there is no way to tell how long the history of Hyrule is. Unless if i missed it. But interesting question, although, I mean, the male gerudo probably would die after 100 years...i doubt they would live that long.

Yeah, so maybe each Zelda game's Ganondorf is the Male Gerudo that is born every 100 years.

No, No, No, we didn't see any Gerudu in WW, so we can't know if there are more male Gerudu, but if they survived that long, yeah maybe.

Re: Aren't there supposed to be more male Gerudos?

I have wondered about this myself. But we know that Ganon is the same throughout every game--though one of my timeline theories has OoT Ganon reborn into the next male Gerudo for WW. I think that at least the spirit/mind has to be the same, if not the body.

well first of all the zelda timeline does not span over only 100 years, that is for sure, and the reason we dobn't see many male Gerudos is either because there aren't even any Gerudos in the game, or it hasn't been born yet and the other one died a few years ago or something like that.

It seems like gerudos don't live that long. Take a look at Ganondorf. How old do you think he is? Around is 30's? 40's even? So a male gerudo is born every 100 years, but it doesn't mean that they can live that long. #1. If it's an evil gerudo (which it has been in all cases) then the gerudo male doesn't live to see his 100th birthday because he falls under the blade of the hero (Link). #2. We don't have a sence at how long people's lives die naturally...I just assume everyone's lifespans are roughly the same to humans: 60-80 years.

That is where you are wrong, my friend. There may not have been female Gerudos shown in tWW, but there was a Gerudo: Ganondorf. Ganondorf did mention (in one of his monologs) that his people lived in the desert and I quote:

Quote:
My country lay within a vast desert.

When the sun rose into the sky, a burning
wind punished my lands, searing the world.
And when the moon climbed into the dark
of night, a frigid gale pierced our homes.

No matter when it came, the wind carried
the same thing... Death.

But the winds that blew across the green
fields of Hyrule brough something other
than suffering and ruin...

[King makes the wish, you fight Ganondorf and impale your sword into his head]

...Ughnn... Heh heh...
The wind...
It is blowing...
So eventhough they weren't shown in tWW doesn't mean they aren't alive. Hyrule and possibly neighboring kingdoms were submerged underwater. The gerudos were nomads, so I wouldn't be surprized if they knew a place to hide and cultivate for the next few hundreds of years.

Re: Aren't there supposed to be more male Gerudos?

No, there wouldn't because a Gossip Stone in OoT says that the Gerudo go to Hyrule Castle Town to look for boyfriends. When they say no, they probably imprison the males to be their love slaves.

Re: Aren't there supposed to be more male Gerudos?

Don't forget, the Godesses selected those who would be the survivors of the great flood, and told them to seek refuge on the mountain tops. Maybe the gods wanted to destroy the heathen race, so they kept them out of the loop.

Either way, it is clearly the same ganondorf from OoT. He says "it had been a long time, boy" which implies he has memories of the past, Link and Zelda who have been reborn, do not. AND he has the triforce of power.

No I think the most likely thing is he escaped the Seal of Time and used the dark portal (which just happens to take you to the forsaken fortress, another clue) to get back to the surface. However he was still in a weakened state, until Link pulled the sword and unsealed his full powers.

He is ONE male Gerudo. There might be more of them, but no one as evil as him. Maybe the other ones just aren't as important for the Gerudos as Ganondorf is. I mean, you don't hear about every hylian king, do you?

Re: Aren't there supposed to be more male Gerudos?

Okay, this is more in the form of a question, but male Gerudos are born every 100 years. In other words, all the Gerudos would give birth to females - with the boyfriends they found in the village - until 100 years when a male is born. Right? Anyways, just like what everyone else said, the people probably don't live for 100 years. The Gerudo tribe probably goes for like... 30 years without a male in their tribe, because of the human lifespan.

In HA Ganon was kicked out of his Gerudo village because he was evil, so I doubt other Gerudo males are that evil.

Re: Aren't there supposed to be more male Gerudos?

He wasn't kicked out. He was their leader. It was a curse placed on the Gerudo that one male would be born every 100 years, and that that male would be the leader of the Gerudo.

Fun fact: Twinrova is Ganon's nanny.

Re: Aren't there supposed to be more male Gerudos?

Guys I think is where we go into the Wind Waker, Remember in the Final scene what Ganondorf said about his country? with what said we can infere that the Gerudo are no more and Ganondorf is the last of his people. I believe in TTP we will be able to see more on what happen to the Gerudo or what is to become of them, since OOT is the only game that i remember seeing Gerudo

When he was in the seal, he did not age, and when he broke out, he landed in the place where he was captured....... Hyrule castle..... which the forsaken fortress just so happened to be built over.

Re: Aren't there supposed to be more male Gerudos?

hm...I don't think that Forsaken Fortress is directly over the Castle. Don't forget you are in Ganon's Castle when that happens. Here's what I think happened.

Ganon breaks free of Dark Realm, uses Triforce of Power to rebuild his castle, Hyrule Castle moved to a nearby spot after the orginal destruction in OoT.
Ganon moves against Hyrule, King prays to Gods and Hyrule is flooded.
Ganon survives and after hundreds of years opens a portal to the world above, the portal goes to Forsaken Fortress because...it just does. It's magic.

The Gerudo were wiped out during the flood. Total genocide. End of story.
