Re: Anatomy of a Like-Like
I never thought about it. Have you ever seen the commercial for Starburst where the girl unwrappes it in her mouth? If so, maybe they do something loke that to Link. That's my thought anyway.

Re: Anatomy of a Like-Like
When actually looking at things like the Like Like you might tend to think of things like that. It must be made of mostly muscle and cartilage, that would explain how it moves and how it stays upright. It's brain is most likely near its base, but in the case of the Rupee and Force Likes the brain is most likely at the base of the stalk that the psudo Rupee or Force gems hang from, that way it's closer to the sensory nerves. The inside of the Like Like is the hardest to put down. it's probably a jelly like substance inside until it wants to eat, then a large depression most likely forms to engulf whatever it's trying to eat. It probably then moves the jelly around to sift out what ever it wants to digest, then spits out what it doesn't want. But I'm probablly wrong.

Re: Anatomy of a Like-Like
It can become smaller, compression itself. It also has a hole in it. The weapons and tunics and such are sucked into that. I don't know though, we never disected those in sience.

Re: Anatomy of a Like-Like
Can we stick w/ weird and unusual and very annoying Nintendo creation and who cares what it's insides look like? Maybe it just likes shields. Maybe it has a collection of them stashed away somehwere. And it might use rupees to go buy fashionable hats at Bloomingdale's. I mean, seriously, think of the possibilities!!!

Re: Anatomy of a Like-Like
I think the answer is quite obvious. Like-likes are robots, and little alien people live inside them and take your shield when you get sucked in. Due to their strange technology, when they break they instantly evaporate along with the alien.
I you had paid any attention at all in the games you would know this. ![]()

Re: Anatomy of a Like-Like
I believe that like-likes have small tentacles inside covered with a sticky substance, that attaches to anything that its victim has on it, and when it grabs onto that item, it shoots it out of its mouth.

Re: Anatomy of a Like-Like
Ok heres what I think: (i used most of your ideas) (ps, toaru bees are from the new game)
The Like Like: The creature is made mostly of cartiledge in the membrane of the large creature. The Like-Like has a bowl shape. It will devour most creatures, though actually prefers harder substances that will last longer than soft, fleshy materials like human skin. The skin of the Like-like is actually lined with billions of microscopic "suckers" (dark-brown in colour), which are only active while on the inside of the Like-Like's natural bowl-shape. These suckers are coated with a fine film of corrosive acid which can even burn through metal. The longer time taken while devouring a metal shield is the reason for the Like-Like's taste preference of metal over meat. While the skin of the Like-Like stretches around the body continuously (to propel it's movement) the brain remains in the bottom section for protection. The inside of the stretching skin is full of a gluggy translucent liquid which protects the brain and spreads out energy consumed by the suckers. The sucking which the Like-Like performs is not an act of breathing but an attack method. The suckers contract and expand rapidly causing air to be caught in a kind of vacuum and sucking in any loose, solid items nearby. The Rupee Likes and the Force Likes are a different form of the same creature, but more evolved to cope with smarter enemies. Many people wonder just how they can go invisible, in fact they are not actually invisible but just a higher state of relaxation which causes their skin to become more transparent - the inner fluids never change colour but are in fact always transparent. The Rupee Like/Force Like has a thin stem (which will regrow if cut off). On top of the stem is a solid lump, which is made of the same substance as the Toaru Bees' honey(for Rupee Likes) or made up of Force Gem Crystal (Force Rupees). That means while it might be a rupee for bait it is actually a rupee. If you can kill the beast you can have that rupee.

Re: Anatomy of a Like-Like
i think it just gets stuck on...on....ok so maybe there is nothing inside of a like-like that would be pointy that could grab onto a shield. maybe they are sticky inside and the sheild/rupies get stuck on the innards of the like-like.
