What got you started

how did you get started in the legend of zelda

I first say my bro and mom play it, then i aske what that and moved on from there. Been hocked sense.

I started to play zelda because I liked the shiny gold color of the nes cartridge, later I found the first temple, but I thought that it was a castle, and there were bats, and my first tought was that it was dracula's casttle, the I kept playing, I learned some english very soon ,and when I was 4 I beated it for the first time, but my brothers named my file ZELDA, so I beated the second round, so When I knew this, I beated it again.

I started playing after watching my mom play ALttP on our NES when I was... seven or eight... I think. After I beat it, I got Link's Awakening... now I'm totally hooked and own all of them, minus Minish Cap, which I plan on buying this summer.

It all started with watching my brothers playing Nintendo with a shiny gold square inside (I've always liked shiny stuff). I wanted to know what it was, so every time my brothers played Nintendo with the 'shiny' in it, I would sit down and watch. I was always freaked out by the dungeon song (and I still am today) and I needed something to distract me from the pressure my parents were putting on me, and I thought Link was cute. When I was about five and failing kindergarten, I watched my brothers play some more, and it was then that I realized that I could read the letters on the screen the entire time!! And I didn't even know English!! And since then, I was grateful for that time and how much the series meant to me, and how I wouldn't be where I am now if it weren't for the Legend of Zelda. That's why I've devoted so much to it, and that's why it will continue to be my most wonderful memories. Thanks Miyamoto-san.

"Every game has a story, only one is a legend..."

When Oot came out I saw one of its commercials, thought it looked cool, and I really liked the music in it, so I went out and bought it, and have been obsessed with it since.

I watched my cousin playing OoT, and was very intrigued by the horse-back riding. Unfortunately, I didn't have a N64, so I didn't get to play it that often. A couple years later, I saw an ad in the paper for the bonus deal with WW. The style of WW wierded me out, but I recognized OoT, so I bought the package. And then I was obsessed with OoT AND WW (yes I got past the whole graphics thing, and now I think they look pretty nice), so, that's that. Now I own all the games except for LA, OoS, OoA.

Well, once I saw that OoS/OoA commercials, we went to town looking for them, but found OoT instead. I had alttp before that, but it was just another game then.

When I was a little kid I got a copy of Zelda 1 and 2 for the NES from somewhere and followed it ever since. Yet somehow for a while I missed ALttP.

I got hooked on zelda when I was about seven years old (I know I know I was a bit older than the rest of you) Me along with a bunch of other kids were at this kids new years eve celebration or something, and the kid had the ocarina of time. And all of us kids watched for hours as he played, from the great deku tree, to jabu jabu. And when I got my five minute turn in between, I could barely walk in a strait line. But this beautifully colored, adventurous game caught my eye, and it stayed in my mind after that day. Then when I was eight I finally got an n64 for christmas, and a copy of supermario64, and banjo kazooie. I was glad to have my first system and two addictave games, but something was missing. I went to the local eb, not a month after getting my n64 and bought oot. From that day forward I spread my obsession with all my other friends, making them zelda fanatics aswell.

I got into the series with OoT. Howver since then i've lpayed every official game. I got into it because my father read in his music magazine, Q that Zelda was the best 3D game ever. We'd just completed MArio 64 so he ought it for me.

Some guys moved in down the street a few years ago. They had a gameboy color with Oracle of Ages. I looved it, so I bought it from them. I also bought the N64, but I didn't get OOT because it was too hard (I was terrible at 3d games). Now I have all the "real" games, excluding the CD-i kind of stuff.

I once saw my friend play Ocarina of Time, and I really liked the gameplay and story. Not to mension the graphics (this was before GameCube, PS2, XBox). I then played Majora's Mask, and I also liked it. I once asked my friend where I can get zelda cheats, and faqs, and he told me of this site. I never knew that Zelda was such an amazing game series. I then started liking it, and became a Fan. I then started to buy games.

That's how I got started.

ALttp just sucked me in when I first played it.I couldn't stop.Then I got the older Zelda game and have been a fan ever since.

When I was little I loved the Mario games and one of my freinds recomended Zelda. So I got ALttP, beated it and then did the same with LA and now I can't live without it.

Well I remembered playing the first LoZ game when I was 5, but that was when Link was "Zelda"..I didn't really know any better. I just kind of ran around and died a lot.

Quite a few years later, I had already forgotten my time with the NES and moved to the N64. Super Smash Bros took up most of my time. Pikachu was my pawn and together we struck fear into the hearts of those who would oppose us. Then I saw him, a boy/man clad in green and somehow I felt as if I had seen him some where before.

I began to use him in battle and found he kicked much more ass that my little electric rodent. And so a new alliance was made and the two of us were unstoppable. But still, I could not shake the feeling that I had once met this person before. So, upon reading his profile I began to remember, yes remember, the days of old. And to my wonderful surprise, he had a game out on the N64. " I must buy this wonderment!" I exclaimed. And off to the store I went.

When I returned home with my package safely tucked under my arm I ran to my room. Oh, the joy! Oh the rapture! I had found my calling.

....And all thanks to a little thing call Super Smash Bros.

I was watching my TV when I saw a commercial for OoT. I had beaten my other games and I liked what I saw. Ever since then I've played and beat every game except for LoZ and AoL.

My mum got me into A Link to the Past. It was the first game I ever played. I then was bought an N64 and wow...

I also had Links Awakening and then i got a NES. It's all very confusing.

My sister borrowed LOZ from a friend back in the day..
