Remember that old 80's cartoon?

I found this dvd with the old zelda series cartoon on it with the first three episodes. I was just wondering if you think (those of you who have seen it) that they should remake another cartoon or not. But I just hope that this time the animation is left to someone other than the Americans.

No, they shouldn't. A Zelda cartoon is just begging for disaster. Just look at Sonic X...

i think they should but this time they should base it off of the OoT game instead of the first game.

Re: Remember that old 80's cartoon?

I think that a new zelda cartoon would be awsome. But it would need to be based more off the games then on its own story, the games themselves have large intricate story to offer with a villain who doesnt fail with tons of illconcieved world conquer plans, (such as any villain seen on childish shows such as power rangers.) There should definitely be another cartoon but done in anime and probably best done as a mini-series, opposed to the pokemon style of having the same basic adventure on every episode.

The cartoons were nothing to get excited about. Link didn't even have blond hair I beleive. I think another show would be a bad idea, unless they made one the chronicled the events of ALttP. That could have potental. My spelling is off, it's late.

The cartoons are stupid, but in a fun way. But if they were to make another series, please, for the love of all that is holy, don't make it anime.

That's what I'm saying. DekuQueen, us Americans could do it waay better than the chinos. I'm sick of all the Pokemon looking bull****. I wouldn't want a cartoon anyway. The Legend of Zelda aint for telling stories....that's why the games don't connect. It's about making A quality games so it would be too hard to make stories out of it.

Re: Remember that old 80's cartoon?

Man you're going to get flamed off your butt...

Anyway, I agree on the non-anime thing.
Sonic X, Kirby: Right Back At Ya, Pokemon = God awful mind rot. Sadly, Pokemon is the most tolerable of these shows I think.

Whoa, my tangent ball just started rolling:
Compare the old sonic cartoon (the good one with knothole and stuff) and the new one. The old one had substinance, and was not overly goofed off its ass unlike sonic X, which is just Sonic thrashing "Eggman" (another reason the new stuff bothers me...) every episode and everyone going for ice cream afterwards.

I've noticed the majority of america-aimed anime follows this trend. There are of course exceptions, and those are the shows no one ever complains about. Coincidence? I think not.

Bottom Line: Goofy anime pisses people off. Zelda has historically (up until FS) been a serious storyline. That being said, a cartoon representing such a series should reflect its seriousness in its presentation. If they were to make it into an anime, it had damn well better be of high quality.

Re: Remember that old 80's cartoon?

I have all 13 episodes on dvd (got it off ebay). They crack stupid jokes, make Link look stupid, and have the same plot in each episode *insert Ganon screaming "the triforce!"* They're still worth a look though. And being a Link 'n Zelda 'shipper myself, it just supports the L & Z 'shipper belief that Link and Zelda are destined to be together.

But I would encourage you to see them if you ever get the chance!

"Chinos"? Well, That's a new one. Yeah, You're right. You Americans could do it better than the Japanese who MADE the game. I mean, what do they know? They're just a bunch of "Chinos"? Although I think the racial slur you're looking for is "Japos", as you are so ignorant you can't even get the country right. Go to hell, not ZU.

Re: Remember that old 80's cartoon?

There is a thread about this in entertainment guys.

Anyway, I hated the cartoons....they where crap simple as that. I love animation and I love Zelda so you'd have thought the Zelda cartoons would have been great for me, but I really hated them.

...And right here in General Zelda.

But yeah, a new cartoon probably wouldn't work very well, especially if it would be as "funny" as the first cartoon. It should be more serious. Also, it shouldn't be a long cartoon. The Zelda series is constantly changing and all the games are about completely different things, so trying to make bazillions of episodes out of the same theme, such as Link and Zelda living in a castle and Ganon trying to steal the Triforce, would most likely be a bad idea.

Re: Remember that old 80's cartoon?

Personally, I'd rather see a live-action movie than a cartoon.

EasyV and Do ReI Mi, cut it out. Especially you, EasyV. Don't generalize an entire country, and especially don't use racial slurs. There's nothing funny about them, and there's nothing that warrants them.
And Do ReI Mi's right, where the heck did you come up with "chinos!?"

Re: Remember that old 80's cartoon?

I'll try to avoid commenting on that racist remark...

As for the cartoon, I didn't like it, although I know several people who thought it was great. I'd like it to be in anime form, as I think the characters would look great, and the OoT/MM/Z05 look anime in style, it would also be most fitting.

They could get the OoT voice actors (for what little voice acting their was) to act it out but the main problem I see is that now, there would be a problem with the theory that Link doesn't talk. Also, if it is in Japanese orignially, then it wouldn't be long before 4kids manage to botch it up in their "English" version.

lol no offense everybody. "chino" isn't a racial slur....it's spanish for chinese and I have the bad habit of calling all asians chinos (even to asians I know, they dont care). I speak the language called spanglish....I mix em up without thinking.....when I say chino, Im not being racists.

Anyways, making Zelda an anime would suck, because c'mon...almost every cartoon is turning into that Pokemon looking crap with the big mouths and big eyes and yelling for no reason...it's stupid! Americans could do it better cuz in the past there have been american cartoons that actually looked like GOOD ART (not some yugeeoh looking thing that looks like it has been drawn by a 5 year old)..and is serious. Remember Batman The Animated Series? Something like that where the writers and creators are actual fans of Zelda.

Orcarina of Time, Majora's Mask, the pictures of Link from booklets in Link's Awakening, Zelda II, Zelda I, and A Link to the Past were never anime and it shouldnt start just because Winder Waker looks it. It should have a style similair to the early games with the dark ages feel.

Also it shouldnt be based on Orcarina of Time or any other game. If it is, then we would know the story and there wouldnt be any point in watching it. Basically it should have the basis of every Zelda game and that's Link vs Ganon, saving Zelda and collecting 8 things. (which is the basis of Zelda's "Legend'....the games don't connect, they just dwell deeper into the same thing) Then they can invent a new story.

And who wouldnt like it if instead of using a type of blonde Link which everyone is used to nowadays, they did a twist and chose that weird looking, short-dwarf looking Link from the orginal Zelda? lol, I would like to see that

Of course, I'm glad it's not going to happen because I dont want a Zelda show or movie....they wouldnt live up to the game for many reasons and it would tarnish the series. Leave it as a series of great game after great game and thats good enuff.

Best way it would work is if they page a PG-13 cartoon movie that goes straight to video

Re: Remember that old 80's cartoon?

ahahhahahahahahahahahahahahh wow.. im on winter break and my friend joseph and I decided it would be "fun" to watch the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Legend of Zelda Cartoon in Full, and then the Exorcist in that order. I would hafta say that the Zelda cartoon was horrible and if I can get more action than Link without asking every five seconds that is pretty sad. The cartoon shouldn't be remade and Bob Forward should be happy that he made as much money as he did with that show.
