The Mysterious "Eye of Truth"

This is mentioned mostly in OoT but I heard from a wise old geezer that there once lived a man in Kakariko Village who had an eye that could see the truth and his house stands where the well does and what a considence you find the "Lens of Truth" down there, so who could this mysterious man be? My guess is the mysterious Poe Collector in the Hyrule Pot Room as an Adult, he has a mysterious red eye and he can see through the truth and know Link's name by looking at him so could this guy be the lengendary Man with an eye that can see the truth? Also on Shiek's clothing there is a eye symbol emboried and it looks the Mask, but yet again it brings me to another question the Mask of Truth can see the truth also it has the power of the "Eye of Truth" but was found by the Happy Mask Shopkeeper I wonder where he found it and I bet it links to this mysterious man with an eye that can see the truth, this is all very weird, any ideas

Re: The Mysterious "Eye of Truth"

I am not sure who had it, I think the old man died so it wasn't explored in OOT. There are so many things in these games that we sometimes think about but it has never gone into detail...the Lens of Truth is one of them.

Re: The Mysterious "Eye of Truth"

Yes I was questioned it to be a Shiekah but if Kakariko has changed then the war must have caused the destruction of his house and therefore a well was replaced but surely the well was a lot more than it actually is since it hid the Lens of Truth maybe hidden by this man, it may be his basement, but clues have surrounded me to who this guy is, now I know from looking at it that he was born in Kakariko Village and everyone born in the village is born to serve the Royal Family of Hyrule. This man was no doubt one of the lengendary Sheikahs that once roamed Hyrule and protected the family, but because of the war many had vanished and the war must have caused the destruction of his home and his life, but I believe he is still "living" even after death

Re: The Mysterious "Eye of Truth"

I don't think the Poe guy is this mysterious Kakarikoan. (Is that a word?) The Poe salesman is the same guard that used to stand in the same building when you were a kid, I believe. He complained how nothing ever happened and said that he's interested in ghosts. I think the guy who owned and maybe created the Lens was a Sheikah, and therefore the lens looks like the Sheikah symbol that can also be seen in Gossip Stones, the Mask of Truth and Sheik's costume.

My theory is that this man had a huge mansion with a huge basement, and he treasured his Lens in the basement. But then he died and the house was razed by someone/something (the civil war, quite possibly), but the basement remained. The well was built where the house once stood, it was connected to the basement and for some reason, nobody went to search the Lens. They possibly didn't even know about it.

Then came the day when Bongo-Bongo started to get on everybody's nerves, and Impa sealed it into the well. Bongo wasn't happy about this, and it started decorating the place with some torture equipment. Its power also drew some monsters into the well from Shadow Temple. That's how the well became what it is now... But wait, that's completely off topic. Rats.

Re: The Mysterious "Eye of Truth"

No problem I like the theory and it fits, but did the guard somehow mutate? I mean after seven years did he die and then somehow "live" after death it doesn't make sense, I believe the guard theory is wrong, this Poe Collector is a completely different person sure they both like ghosts but just look at what the collector's wearing, what his appearance is, I believe he is a wearing a purple tatted robe that covers his head also and has Triforce broach on his robe symbolizing some sort of connection with the Royal Family its really weird but this collector is more than just a collector

Re: The Mysterious "Eye of Truth"

It's not impossible that he could look different, for we don't even know what happened to him during those seven years. He could be a ghost, and ghosts seem to look different in Hyrule. Were all the Poes giggling, maniacal midgets with evil eyes while they were alive? Most unlikely.

Re: The Mysterious "Eye of Truth"

Hmm...well judging by the Triforce broach on his robe I am guessing this collector is somehow "connected" to the Royal Family but seems so evil now and appreciates Ganondorf's work for making the Poe Collector start is work in such a perfect area for the dead and evil to roam, unless the collector died when serving the Hylian Knights which is why he appears in this particular room and he doesn't seem to mind the place really he only put his bed in there and decorated it with torches its like he treating it as home but a basement? Strange, if I was a ghost I would roam anywhere. Also he seems to carry a cane or a stick of some sort or a wand I ain't sure but if he is a ghost he might be a wizard, he might have some connection the the mysterious man that lived in Kakariko

Re: The Mysterious "Eye of Truth"

The poe collector is obviously the guard that is there as a child. The guard there when you're a child mentions that he's intersting in ghosts. There, you have a very obivous hint and some evidence.

If you want to go ahead and believe some baseless fanfiction that you've just thought up on the bat, go ahead.

Re: The Mysterious "Eye of Truth"

That guard also mentions how handsome Link is XD

But about the Lens of Truth in OoT...that is an interesting story. I think that the original owner of the Lens was definately Sheikah, since Impa explains that Kakariko is the "land of her people" or whatever. I wonder who made it...or maybe it's some kind of supernatural reincarnation of that particular man's talents (seeing the truth). Spooky.

That'd make for one neato fanfic.

the MM one eludes me though. The Goron's made it? *shrug*

Re: The Mysterious "Eye of Truth"

Hmm I doubt it and about it becoming a fanfic I am working on it and its gunna be good stay tuned for it to a forum near you and that is here *cough* Anyway on who made it, it seems to contain mysterious supernatural powers that can see the unseen, it has the eye symbol of the Sheikah maybe the Lens are linked to this mysterious man who could see the truth

Re: The Mysterious "Eye of Truth"

I believe the Lens of Truth is the eye that can see the truth. Several times in the Shadow Temple (and I think aso the well) the Lens of Truth is referred to as the eye of truth.

Re: The Mysterious "Eye of Truth"

The Poe Collecter might be the guard but didn't the Poe Collector mention how handsome Link so this might be a she we are dealing with meaning scrapping the theory of the guard I believe this Poe Collecter is someone different and mysterious and she also appeared in MM no way this PC is never the guard
