How about something as simple and iconic as the first cave from the first Zelda, you know, with the fires and the old man giving you the sword.

Instead of a sword is the ring of course.

A big text on the back wall, something along the lines of "It is dangerous to go alone, marry me!"

It'd be incredibly simple to build, yet would remain easily recongisable.

This is a great idea. But of course, "live alone" would be the better option, like someone stated.

If you're going with the Temple of Time, have the door open with the ring instead of the Master Sword. Then, she'll turn around and see you on the platform where you teleport there. Then you go to your knees, and hopefully she'll know to walk up to you.

Now if you want to go with a simple idea, make a treasure chest with the ring inside. Then have that thing where you open a card that makes noise. So, when she open's the chest, the *Da-da-da-DAAAAAAA* music plays. And she'll find the box with the ring. I don't know, maybe a scavenger hunt. I just remember my mom did that at one of my birthday parties and my friend and I found a chest with candy inside.

Just go with Gilgames's idea. It's not too nerdy, but just right.
