A day ago iwas playing OOT (dont ask why I was bored) and I killed gannon. Then I thought "why does gannon lose he is good at fighting and stuff" so what would happpen if he won? well hyrule would be gone... But it would be cool.I mean come on the timeline would be screwed up. but if he did not die then...WHO KNOWS WHAT WOULD HEPPE! tell me what you tink.

Re: Why does Ganon lose?

Really? Haven't you seen the timeline?

*sigh*

Well in the official timeline, there is a split at the end of Ocarina...an ending where Ganon loses, like in the game we've all played, AND and alternate ending where he wins (kills Link). That timeline branches off and other games fall into that storyline. Instead of Majora'a mask, there are other games/stories if Ganon had won, ie Adventure of Link. So really, we do know what would happen if Ganon won.

Because realism isn't Zelda's strong suit...

I don't know why this made me laugh. Consider this sig'd.

Anyways, according to the book Hyrule Historia, there is another timeline branch that results from Ganon defeating Link. Basically, Ganon defeats Link, gets the entire triforce, and is sealed away with the triforce as a last resort by Zelda and the Sages. These events lead to the events of A Link to the Past, followed by Oracle of Seasons/Ages, Link's Awakening follows; centuries later, the events of the Legend of Zelda (NES) take place, and finally it's sequel, Adventure of Link.

What would happen if Ganondorf gets success on getting rid of Link, Zelda and the sages? Well probably he would own the world forever.

Ganon does defeat Link - as Turkeybean said - in Hyrule Historia which is known as the Downfall timeline.

Because usually the good defeats the evil in stories like that.

Re: Why does Ganon lose?

Ganon loses because you're playing the game right.

If you sucked at playing, he'd win.

Re: Why does Ganon lose?

IDK if i really consider it losing, I mean hes died constantly and always come back. Hes done some pretty terrible things, destroyed hyrule a couple times, enslaved entire realms.

How can he lose when he cant be permantly destroyed. Sure Link and Zelda will foil his plans and kill him (destroying Hyrule in the process) but a couple hundred years or so and hes back at it.

It's all explained in Oot and other games.

You don't need to be a timeline theorist. Besides, i think its explained in Oot.

Well, the dude IS evil, and we, being on the side of GOOD and LIGHT and JUSTICE and all that...are obligated to stop him.

All joking aside: Ganon doesn't really get killed-killed in OoT. He's more stabbed-sealed. In the entire series, he dies for real two times. The rest, he's sealed away until the next time he tries to get his mitts on the Triforce.

If he won, then yes, Hyrule would be in despair, and it would so not be cool for any one who wasn't Ganon.
