^I agree with this.
Along with the enjoyability of the game, the overworld is pretty big and it can be fun to wander around for hours on end looking for what to do. The dungeons aren't the best, but the difficulty in finding them makes it all worth it.
Along with this, the game is the first in the series. I think it would be interesting for you to get the game and see where the series started; you'd be able to compare how the series evolved from then to now. Not only that, but it's still fun as balls to play.
So yeah. While they are all great choices, I think
LoZ would be the most interesting for you at this point. If you get it, I recommend Virtual Console or the Gamecube Collector's Edition. NES would be too hard to find and may not work, and Gameboy would be difficult to find as well. Gamecube is your best bet for a hard-copy of the copy, and if you can't find it/don't care for hard-copies, go for virtual console.
Seriously. Get
LoZ. It's awesome (and has a ton of replay value too).
