Which game should I get?

Hi, I'm going to buy a new Zelda-game and I want to ask which one I should get. The ones I’m not done with and don’t own is LoZ, AoL, OoA, OoS and LA (except from FS and FSA). Which one should I buy?

Re: Which game should I get?

I say get the original Legend of Zelda for the NES. I definitely have fun beating it every once in a while.

Re: Which game should I get?

^I agree with this.

Along with the enjoyability of the game, the overworld is pretty big and it can be fun to wander around for hours on end looking for what to do. The dungeons aren't the best, but the difficulty in finding them makes it all worth it.

Along with this, the game is the first in the series. I think it would be interesting for you to get the game and see where the series started; you'd be able to compare how the series evolved from then to now. Not only that, but it's still fun as balls to play.

So yeah. While they are all great choices, I think LoZ would be the most interesting for you at this point. If you get it, I recommend Virtual Console or the Gamecube Collector's Edition. NES would be too hard to find and may not work, and Gameboy would be difficult to find as well. Gamecube is your best bet for a hard-copy of the copy, and if you can't find it/don't care for hard-copies, go for virtual console.

Seriously. Get LoZ. It's awesome (and has a ton of replay value too).

Get FSA (Seriously, the game is awesome.)

Out of all those, my favorites are the Oracle Games, get both, but only play through one at once so you can later use the password on the second game.

Maybe because you are from/live in Iceland it is hard to find NES games. Where I live, it isn't hard to find good condition NES games. I have a small library myself, including a used Legend of Zelda gold cartridge, and an almost new (I don't think it's ever been played, but the box has been opened) grey cartridge.

Re: Which game should I get?

Also, I had a question. Do you already have Link's Awakening, and do not have Link's Awakening DX? Or are you jumping straight to Link's Awakening DX?

Re: Which game should I get?

I don’t have LA; I have only tried it once. So if I was to get it, I want the DX version, because I didn’t like it without color. But it looks like LoZ is a good game to get, so I will buy it. Maybe LA DX after that one. Tanks for the help xD

Re: Which game should I get?

I haven't played OoS or OoA. However, LA DX was a great game for me as a handheld, and it really doesn't have a prequel that you should play. I think you would enjoy it.

Id say OoA or LA DX very fun, although you can't really go wrong with any of these games.

Re: Which game should I get?

If you're used to the newer games I would actually recommend to get one of the newer games. Personally I didn't like the LoZ that much because it just didn't have much of a story and I had no idea where to go half the time. It may be alright for those who like wandering around for awhile until they find what they're looking for, but for those used to the newer games which give you small hints as to where to go, have extra things to do, and have a better story and gameplay mechanics the original may be a little disappointing, even if you are expecting the older game to be simpler.

I never played AoL, but it's not that far off from LoZ so I imagined it's close to the same story. If you get either of OoX then get them both at the same time. You'll have a much larger adventure and also will be able to complete the story by linking the two games. Get LA if you just want a single game with a complete story.

Re: Which game should I get?

Play LA to prepare yourself for both Oracle games (I would start with Seasons). I also recommend FSA. I won't suggest playing LoZ/AoL until you have no other Zelda left to play because, well, they can take a lot out of you to finish.

Re: Which game should I get?

I bought LoZ on the VC on my Wii, and I have already gotten the first Triforce piece. But I died a few times before I reached it… maybe I just have to master the controls, but the game is really hard. I of course like the hardness of the game, it’s something between this and aLttP all Zelda-games should have. And I know it was bad with story within the game because of the NES was a week consol, but that doesn’t make the game boring. What’s making the game boring is that you don’t know where to go. Of course I don’t want to get told: “go there and do that, than go over there and do that.” What I mean is that I don’t even get a hint about where to go.

Re: Which game should I get?

Two things about that. Yes, the game is hard, but that is the realities of the game. You may want to get a PDF of the manual, that might help a bit.

Re: Which game should I get?

U should get LOZ, its a "must have" kind of game, it just must be on every Fan's collection.

LOZ and Super Mario Bros where the 2 first games I got on the Virtual Console, even in they aren't my favorite, I felt I really should OWN them, sort of like museum pieces, a must have indeed

Re: Which game should I get?

Oracle of Seasons anyone? If you're just getting into Zelda it's a good transitional game. Oh yeah, it's fun as well. Really you can't grow wrong picking up any, OP, except for maybe AOL. That games not really my thing, but other folk seem to love it.
