I am hoping Nintendo decides to develop a title for the Defeated Timeline.

For one, I would love to see Nintendo go back to the vintage Link of LoZ/AoL/aLttP, you know, in same kind of tunic, or, at least, find a plot formula to expand the canon of the Defeated timeline since there is not much to expand on.

I'm most certainly not alone, but, it would be nice to play as the Link we first knew.

I never played Skyward Sword and that pretty much started it all, well, after, the world was created by the three Goddesses.

Nintendo seems to bring back old themes in past Mario games since Mario is more casual and not intense like Zelda.

Odd enough, Majora's Mask is my favourite, but, the Defeated timeline is my favourite canon of Zelda.

Myamoto did say he wanted to make a game revolving around ALTTP.

Is it possible that the timeline was released to get people thinking bout the older games again so they could introduce a game that reached from those games more so and not have it be completely alien to new people into the franchise?

I'd love to see a "Zelda III" that continues the story where AoL left off.

Didn’t AoL end with “and they lived happily ever after.”

I would go for another game in the Defeated Timeline. Why not? New Zelda games are always fun to play.

Not too much, Link locks lips with Zelda and the credits roll. It's totally open for another sequel.

So, how about, the reason Link died in OoT was because a villain from the AT went back in time, setting off the Defeat Timeline. He then went dormant until the era of Zelda I and II. In III, Link must stop perhaps the most powerful villain so far in Zelda, while being taught by the spirit of the Hero of Time, so that he may be avenged.

...Come on, you want this.

Certain details regarding the HoT's death mentioned in Hyrule Historia would need to be retconned.

No, If a "Zelda III" is ever made, the only connections it should have are to LoZ and AoL.

A solid, pure sequel. No time travel or ghosts of previous Links

I can see why that would be preferred. But a solid "no" is a bit much.

It all depends if you would like to do something to both wrap up the classic Zelda arc, as well as do something to connect it to the timeline.

But keeping it secluded is also an option. It could go either way, in my opinion.

I would love to see some more development of the LoZ/AoL part of the timeline. Until the HH came out I always considered that part to be either the forgotten area or simply retconned out. But I definitely like to see the gigantic Hyrule of AoL again. The size and population alone allows for a massive amount of characterization and memorable characters. In just about every other game we are lucky to see another village outside of castletown when not counting the Zora/Goron domains. I think it would be a waste to let that already established kingdom be left alone while Nintendo continues going further and further back in time to have even more prequels and origin stories.

There will DEFINITELY be a downfall timeline game. I might as well be bold and say that Ninty is actually working on it for the Wii U Zelda as we speak, seeing as how pretty much all console Zelda's have been sequels and prequels to Ocarina of Time, Zelda Wii U will likely not be an exception. Even though I kinda wish Ninty would just let OoT go already...

I am very happy that Myamoto is now finally looking up to another Zelda game instead of Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker (90% of the time) for the 3DS... for once...

I think that's a great Idea. I also want to see them bring back the old design of Link's clothing.

It is the third branch on the Hyrule Historia Zelda timeline revealed last year and endorsed by Eiji Aonuma.

I hate that they'd release an official Timeline, fan debating was the fun of it.

And placing the Minish Cpa before OoT was always a stupid idea of his.

What makes you say that?

If you've noticed, they like to play around with different art styles a lot.

Personally, Miyamoto himself is very keen on reviving the Hero is Defeated timeline. The evidence is right in front of us-Constantly mentioning the desire for a 3D rendition of A Link to the Past. This will no doubt be the next game for 3DS.

As for my own wishes, I'd like to see further development of the timeline as well. Now is the ideal time to release the canned third Oracle game or make a chronological successor to Adventure of Link. It would certainly be interesting to see what occurs after Ganon's revival is thwarted. also, I'm betting all of my rupees that this will be the timeline portion where we'll see the return of magic.
