Which Zelda game has the best music?

I hope I'm not stepping on any toes, and if I am.....too bad. But to me, actually, the best soundtrack.....Windwaker. I know that sounds wierd, probably one of the most shunned Zelda games in the franchise (and ironically, later the future innovator for pretty well all the ensuing handhelds) but the thing that really saved it for me, after the graphics, and hours of sailing, and the even more hours of searching for maps and getting 8 stinkin' shards of the triforce, was the soundtrack. I could turn on my gamecube and listen to that intro music over and over again. The soundtrack for that game was pretty epic. TP came close, but no, windwaker takes it for me

I liked the Wind Waker's music the best as well. It was nice and up tempo. I like the pirate-esque theme.
I love that type of music.

Re: Which Zelda game has the best music?

In my opinion Wind Waker definitely has the most memorable music. Even the title screen has a really well made song that I liked a lot. Normally title screen songs are pretty generic. But my favorites would the Great Sea at day and Dragon Roost island.

Re: Which Zelda game has the best music?

Speaking only terms of the genius of the composition, I would say Wind Waker. Since the soundtrack was produced in MIDI, though, I definitely would not say that WW features the best sound quality. On the other hand, Skyward Sword is almost fully orchestrated. To correspond with the game's new orchestral score, I suppose the composers wanted to make every song sound less catchy and in-your-face.

Twilight Princess is an interesting combination of orchestration (occasionally) and melodies that will remain in your mind for days on end. I wouldn't say that TP's somber score is the most masterful of the three I've mentioned so far, but I believe it's the most balanced.

I really do like most of the music from the games, but in particular I like OoT, MM, and TP.

Oracle of Ages, The Minish Cap, Twilight Princess, and WInd Waker have the best music.

Wind Waker and Four Swords Adventures.

From a melodic standpoint, both are the best. From an instrumentation standpoint, they only lose to Skyward Sword (which is orchestrated).

Re: Which Zelda game has the best music?

This is a really tough one. I guess I'd have to go with Majora's Mask. The only way I can explain it is that I really enjoy listening to it while I play. The people who wrote the music did a good job of fitting it with the environment.

My vote would have to go to TP.

Some of the songs in the game were brilliantly done, and that Hyrule field over world music... hnnnng.

Re: Which Zelda game has the best music?

Its a tie betweenSS and WW for me. Both are equally awesome to me. I think If both were orchestrated, I would lean torwards WW a bit, but I'm not sure. Both have so many great tracks.

Re: Which Zelda game has the best music?

I would have to say Link to the Past or Ocarina of Time. I think all of the Zelda games have excellent music, however the music from those two feel more rich to me.

Agreed. Just watching the intro video to ALTTP gives me a nostalgia erection.

Re: Which Zelda game has the best music?

I'd have to say Majora's Mask, with Ocarina of Time, Skyward Sword, and Link's Awakening behind it. Tunes like the Astral Observatory or Oath to Order, along with dungeon themes such as Stone Tower Temple are just awe-inspiring.

Re: Which Zelda game has the best music?

The Wind Waker has the best soundtrack of all the Zelda games. Subjective, yes, but it's meant to be.

It has so many wonderful tracks. The end credits for one… simply amazing.
Dragon Roost Island, Great Sea Theme, Main Theme, etc, etc………

Re: Which Zelda game has the best music?

I'm throwing out Majora's Mask, but I dig WW and Twilight Princess as well. Majora's Mask just sounds...twisted and not-quite-right. Perfect for the game setting.
