Not sure if a topic like it exists But I'm just curious if you like the loftwing
or epona better? I love Epona of course but the Loftwing was awesome =D
Even though I sucked at motion controls XD I just love flying in the sky
Epona is much better than the crimson Loftwing. It's awesome traveling on Epona, especially in Twilight Princess. Plus, I think people in general are more emotionally attached to Epona. Epona has been there since OOT (I'm not 100 percent sure about that) and has become the way Link mainly travel. I honestly didn't even like the Loftwing. the flying was fun but is tiring after a while and I had absolutely no feelings towards it. I don't think you're even supposed to see it as something other than transportation. It doesn't even have a proper name.
Ganondorf is the only attractive male in the series.
I think I like the loft wing better Epona's cool and all but I think I became more attached to my loft wing. I really never thought that their was really a bond with Epona she's just feels like a horse. In TP there was a little bit better of a bond with it being your horse and not just you learn her special song and suddenly she loves you. But with the loft wing even though it's just zelda's dad explains the special bond, it really works for me cause it leaves how this special bond was formed to the imagination. That's what I liked about SS and this goes with almost all Zelda games but I felt it especially in SS. Where Link's past is what you fill it with your own imagination.
Not just the Great Sea, love. The entire ocean. The entire wo'ld. Wherever we want to go, we'll go. That's what a ship is, you know. It's not just a keel and a hull and a deck and sails, that's what a ship needs but what a ship is... what the King of Red Lions really is... is freedom.
Epona. In OoT you worked to earn her and established a bond, and in TP she has dialogue when you're in wolf form. We never got to see how it started with the loftwing, it's only heard about from what the headmaster said and I felt nothing for it.
Part of me says its an unfair comparison because you have Epona in multiple games but the Loftwing in only one. So naturally players have a preconceived bond with Epona since every game following OOT.
That said, I agree that in OOT you have to earn her. If you don't then you get into the adult timeline horseless, but the whole bonding with the horse and seeing the bond last seven years of absence was powerful.
The problem with the Loftwing is you start the game as you get "by the way YOU HAVE A BIRD, but you have to find him first" not the best way to start a relationship. Maybe if we have more games with the Loftwings i'll be more open to them, but for now Epona all the way.
Yeah, it's a bit unfair to compare the two, since Epona has been in more games.
I say both. I really can't decide which I like better. I felt more of a bond toward Epona, but the Loftwing was a nice change, too. I just with Nintendo made the Loftwing more involved in the plot, seeing as Link and it share a "special bond." We didn't really see that.
I like both of them. I like Epona, King of Red Lions and the Crimson Loftwing. :3 They really have that red thing going for these ridable companions you get in Zelda. lmao (I think Epona has a maroonish coloured coat, close enough to red)
Epona is like a bro. That horse still remembers Link after seven years when nobody else does. And she's in Termina with him.
BUT, the Loftwing is like Fi: they've been there the whole time without you knowing it (Fi in Mastah Sword, Loftwing on the Hylian shield) and it makes you look at it a certain way.
Plus the Loftwing's face was adorable.
Epona for shure. Even though SS is my favourite zelda game I have to give epona this one. What i though was really dissapointing in the begining of SS was that your loftwing didn't have a name or you could name it yourself. The only name it had was Crimson, which is a type of loftwing just that Link had the only one.
Anyway, Epona was much more satisfying creature to ride and to a knight or a solider from the medieval time, a horse fits more than a bird...

Epona, but only because of Twilight Princess. There was a strong lack of relationship with the Loftwing. It felt shallow in a sense that it was nothing more than a means of transportation. It wasn't a character in its own right. However, this also applies to Epona in Ocarina of Time, who isn't even part of the story in any sense whatsoever. Actually, she is completely option. You could go the whole game without even glimpsing her. I can't speak for her role in Majora's Mask because I have yet to play that game. However, Epona in Twilight Princess at least has some involvement in the story as well as some bonding with you, as far as being able to talk to her when in wolf form.
I actually prefer Epona overall because horsie and because we just, got to know her better. She didnt feel like a mount, she felt like a character. In TP, she was with Link at the very beginning, a part of his life. While the Loftwing was too, we didnt see the bond between Link and ol' Gooby. Only that they could sense each other. But thats true of all Skyloftians and their Loftwings. So yeah.
In OoT, Epona was the fastest horse in Hyrule. She began as Malon's friend but after Link returned, she was going to be given to Ganondorf as a gift to garner favor. Why? Because she was the best and fastest horse in the ranch. But she was also the most stubborn. The game actually showed us this in a subtle way. That horse had a characterization of her own. In MM, Epona is with Link from the beginning. This time, shes just barely out of foaldom. More like a pony. We still see the bond. TP went deeper and the bond between Link and Epona is really strong. She even recognizes and understands whats going on when Link is a wolf.
Epona > Gooby the Loftwing.
