The old thread was out of date because it did not include Skyward Sword, so here is a new version! If you're going to post, be sure to give an actual reason as to your choice, or there will be nothing to discuss!
I vote for The Hyrule Fantasy: Zeruda No Densetsu @ Legend of Zelda (the first option in the poll) because it's deeply memorable -- I was in my early teen years when the game came out. Legend of Zelda was the first game of this series and from there it continues its epicness and there be born the rest of other games until the latest one where we get Skyward Sword now. Without it... there'd be no one knowing of Zelda and Link ('coz it means the game wouldn't exist at all). 25 years and going.... woot!
Since I played windwaker, the charm of it really just grabbed me.
I liked the style, although somewhat blocky I found it quite fitting to the islandy feel to the game.
I loved the statue sidequest (I'm a big sidequest fan )
I found it to be the longest, perhaps not story wise, but exploring and play time wise.
It's a toss-up between a few, but I picked Spirit Tracks because I'm pretty sure it won't be getting many votes besides me, and I thought it told a pretty good story considering how little was really there (including my favorite iteration of Princess Zelda). Also, it had some of the best puzzles in terms of challenging:annoying ratio. I never once felt tempted to go to a guide, because I was actually having fun solving them. Same with the sidequests. I got 100% without a guide, because there was always SOMETHING pointing to the next heart container/force gem/bunny/etc. Most of the time, there's at least one thing in a game where I look at it and say, "How the hell was I supposed to find this without a guide?" Never in Spirit Tracks.
Beat Skyward sword yesterday, and omg it's fantastic!
it felt like the best parts from each Zelda game was taken into account and put in the game
and the characters feel like for once they have personalities, even Link!
This is easily my new favorite Zelda game.
SS is my new favourite as well. It's beaten my love for MM and OoT.
I agree with Taggi95. It's like they said "okay, this is what people really liked, and this is what people really disliked. Let's try to keep all of those things they dislike, off the table and put all the things they adore into the game."
The story has hooked me in and I haven't been so into a Zelda game since MM and OoT.
I'm happy to see that Skyward Sword is currently on top, proving that the series is moving forward.
However, although I did enjoy Skyward Sword oh-so-much, it still didn't get to steal my special place reserved for Majora's Mask. When it comes down to video games as great and expansive as Zelda games, it comes down to the feelings I get from the game. It really does feel like the story elements are the ones that decide the top spot. Nothing has ever beaten Majora's Mask in giving me such expressive feelings and so many wondering thoughts.
It's always been Ocarina of Time for me. And I honestly never thought another Zelda game would replace it as #1, but I'm already thinking Skyward Sword will do that and I'm not even halfway through yet. Though, I can't say it for sure until I actually do finish, but things are looking good for Skyward Sword.
Mom smokes in the car... Jesus is okay with it, but we can't tell Dad.
