Darkest Moment In Zelda

This was more creepy than dark, but the theme in oot for the fire dungeon(random shreeking) was wierd.

I think when the moon falls in Termina and kills roughly 300 people/creatures. That's pretty dark for Zelda.

ah yes the fire temple...pretty damn dark. and the fact that the gorons were locked up and were gonna be fed to volvagia

After Zelda flee's Castle Town go behind the alley and there is a dying soldier who laments.

For me, its MM in general especially the third day. The body language more then OH MY GOSH cutscenes give more depth. The Swordman shaking in the backroom, The postman torn with duty or his life and the mayors wife who has resigned herself to the end. The Romania sisters who declares her sister grown up as she accepts she will die before her time, Lulu losing her children, and friend. Kefai and Anju, the wait at the end is a test of faith for us as well as her. Will he turn up? The dead soldier, and the Poe composers and Ikana who can't find peace. The Deku Butler and the loss of his son and the ignorance of the situation as he spoke to Link about him.

I never saw TP as truely dark, apart from the dark lighting. (and awful light saturation) For the most part people was utterly unaware anything was even going on, The death of the Zora Queen was a start but wasn't used to any great effect and the introduction to the Prison was a great build up but it didn't deliver. (Anyone else notice the prison contains not a -single- cell of any kind?)

Pretty much all of Majora's Mask was incredibly dark. Everything was just depressing in that game.

I definitely agree that Majora's Mask touches upon a lot of dark elements.

However, I always found the Southern Shrine in Link's Awakening pretty dark. Not only is the music pretty spooky (and personally I think LA's soundtrack is amazing, but that's beside the point), but just the revelation that Koholint Island is a dream you and the Windfish are sharing and that nothing is really as it seems. To me, that can go on a lot of dark tangents.

OoT's under the well and Shadow Temple. A lot of terrible things were implied there that really make you question whether the kingdom you are working to save is really as good as it once seemed. To me this was more dark and twisted than anything in MM, which was really just sad more than anything.

Ah, how could I forget about that? I was always intrigued and thrown off by the vague words left behind by the, most likely, voices of the deceased. "Here lies a bloody history of greed and hatred" is very chill-inducing. Perhaps it is referring to the so-called Reunification War that occurred around the time Link's mother died.

Also, it seemed like under the well it used to house a torture chamber along with prisons. It does give off a vibe that there could have been tensions between Sheikahs and the Hylians.

I think the darkest scene would be the part in TP where Link finds the kids from Ordon in Kakariko Village. You know, when the Twilight's still giving the place ♥♥♥♥. Nothing like having most of them either slowly going insane/giving up hope and a guy trying to keep everyone sane to darken up the mood.

Just the whole castle thing when you first meet zelda in TP is pretty dark wouldnt you say

Majora's Mask is by and far the darkest game for me. You have Ikana, you have the monkey that is going to be boiled alive, you have Link taking the masks of dead people, then of course there is the whole moon crushing the earth. By and far the creepiest game for me. I don't think TP's darkness compares quite as closely.

All of Majora's Mask. One thing that always gets me is that the Skull Kid made almost everyone in Termina suffer, while giving them the sense of impending doom by making the moon start to fall. He made sure that their lives were completely ruined before they died. That's some twisted stuff.
