Zelda games you think are overlooked and deserve more recognition

Everyone has their favourite Zelda game's, but some may not have been noticed as well as others... Which Zelda game do you think is overlooked and deserves more recognition than it currently has? Please also elaborate of why.

(BTW. I'm leaving all the 3D console Zelda games out because I think they are recognised more than enough already. So you can choose from the 2D and DS Zelda's )

The Zelda game that I think doesn't get enough attention is none other than Link's Awakening. Yes I've been mentioning it a few times before. The game really kept me involved from beginning to end. The dungeons were also a lot of fun as well as the bosses who actually played some kind of role in the game, trying to stop you from waking the wind fish.

The game has some great humour too as well as some nice nods to other Nintendo franchises like Mario and Kirby. Bow-wow and the Blue cucco were also pretty fun to have around. As for those "dark Zelda" lovers out there, The story does have quite a sad theme in it.... Not going spoil it for those who haven't played it yet. ;p

It was a real imaginative Zelda game with loads of random moments that kept on making me having a smile on my face.

Its a shame it doesn't seem to be that well noticed these days. :/ Once Links Awakening GX lands on the 3DS virtual console I would definitely recommend those who haven't played it to try it out. It really is great.

Re: Zelda games you think are overlooked and deserve more recognition

Link's Awakening is an excellent game (LA DX was the first Zelda I finished), but I would certainly say that game gets plenty of recognition compared to some of the other 2D ones. My pick would be Oracle of Seasons. Now, both of the Oracle games IMO get unfairly overlooked, but I feel Seasons gets it the worst, and it's also my favorite of the two.

I loved the whole season changing concept, it was a very clever idea and completely new for the series. Four different seasons made for amazing exploration opportunities and some really cool puzzles. Also, while it's common to hear that Ages was the puzzle-heavy game while Seasons was the one focused on action, I actually thought Seasons had the smartest, most fun puzzles of the two. Besides that, the Magnetic Glove is easily one of my favorite 2D Zelda items, a very cool item that gets put to great use, awesome stuff!

Everybody blows off Minish Cap except Vaati fans. It needs more recognition for its actual gameplay.

Easily the Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages got overlooked in my opinion. It's just not even funny how they've been sort of tossed aside.

^ I liked the Adventure of Link because it was challenging. It made you sit down for a while and just think every little detail through. It was very much a "think this out" sort of game. And it was a rewarding experience once you overcame a difficult part.

That's one of the reasons why I like LoZ so much, it gets me thinking.

Definitely Adventure of Link. I thought the game was really fun once you got over the difficulty.

Easily Minish Cap. Like Mandrag said, it's known by Vaati fans, but from most everyone else it goes unnoticed for everything else it offers. It's in my personal top 5 Zelda games. It's a great game with a good story and really fun to play. The whole Minish world could be a spin-off game of it's own.

Re: Zelda games you think are overlooked and deserve more recognition

It was close between Seasons and Link's Awakening for me but I went with Seasons. Not sure completely why other than remembering when I was little how much fun I had playing it, plus I thought the changing of seasons was a clever way to make things fun and think a little bit outside the box.

The Minish Cap is EXTREMELY underrated. Many people haven't played or even heard of it, but it remains one of my favorite 2D Zelda games.

Whoa is Minish Cap really that much overlooked? I thought it was quite well known since it kept on being brought up with those timeline debates. :/ Oh well. :/

Re: Zelda games you think are overlooked and deserve more recognition

Legend of Zelda- as there are a lot of new fans who never got to experience this masterpiece
Adventure of Link- as everybody hates on it just because theyre too p*ssy to beat it
Oracle Series- These games were pretty innovative for gameboy games (besides Pokemon). Gameplay was classic and awesome. It was a breath of fresh air that is too often overlooked.
Minish Cap- Just plain epic. Probably the best Hyrule Town out of any game. It restricted you from certain areas in a fluid way that didn't really feel restricting. It was clever, quirky, and had everything a Zelda fan could possibly want who's not a Ganon fan boy

Of course I have nothing against Ganon fan boys.. (or p*ssies who couldn't beat AoL) ^_^ Haha

It's a cross between the Oracle games and Minish Cap.
I don't know very many people that have played both.

Re: Zelda games you think are overlooked and deserve more recognition

The Oracle games, for sure. Great stories, and fun games overall. They kind of seem like the forgotten releases when people talk about the Gameboy games.

The Adventure of Link is up there too though. I'll be the first to admit that I hated it at first, but it grew on me a lot over the years. Pound for pound, its probably one of the more difficult Zelda games, if not the most.

I would give AoL a second look. Zelda was still in it's early stages and it was still figuring itself out.

Minish Cap. Most 'casual' Zelda fans don't really know about it. I talked to someone a few months ago who claimed to love Zelda but he didn't know about Minish Cap. It was kind of sad.

It gets brought up on fansites all the time, sure, but outside of the inner 'hardcore fan' circle, it's kind of ignored.
