Pronounciations?

I've got a sort of stupid question, but it's been bothering me, and I decided to try making a thread on it.

There are a few Zelda names I'm not sure how to pronounce, and I was wondering how you all usually say them.

Is Malon-

Mah-lone or Malon (rhymes with talon, like a bird's claws.) The more I think about it, the more I think it should be said Mah-lone, but I've always called her Malon the way it's spelled. I'll probably never change that, but is there a correct way to say it? Mah-lon? Mal-en? Mah-lone?

Tatl-

Is it Tatal? Or does it sound like "tattle"? My brother and sister and me all say it different...

And Tael-

Tay-ul? Tai-el? Tah-el? I rarely ever try saying that one. I have a problem pronouncing fairy names...

I'm just wondering how everyone else says them, and if there's a correct way. Thank you!

I'm not sure about that one, i think Malon, the way it's spelt.

it's tattle, as in tattle tail, you'll see why in a second.

it's pronounced tail, so the brother and sister fairies are tatl-tael (tattle tail).

I say Malon as Malon, Tatl as Tattle and Tael as Tai-el. Most of the people i know also say them like i do.

Re: Pronounciations?

It helps to capitalize the stressed syllable.
MAH-lun is how I usually pronounce her name, mainly because if I imagine Talon calling her, ma-LONE would sound kinda weird.
Tattle tail makes sense for the fairies.
I have a few more names I want to mention:
Ganondorf
I used to call him GAH-nun-dorf but I think it sounds cooler if it's pronounced GAW-nown-doorf.
The same goes for Ganon. Most of the time I hear this it rhymes with cannon, but it sounds a lot more evil and ominous if you say GAW-nown (gaw as in raw and nown as in own).
Navi
Is Navi pronounced the same as Navy or is there a different pronunciation?

You know, now that I pronounced it that way, you're right, it does sound better. Much like GAN-dulf and GAWN-dulf. Sort of takes the stuffed-nose American accent out of it and gives it a more British accent.

My brother and I always pronounce it NAW-vee.

I agree with the whole "MAH-lun", "Tattle", and "Tail" thing because that is how I've always pronouced it. As for Navi, I always pronounce it at "Nav-E".
As far as I know for Ganon/Ganondorf, I usually refer to them as "GAHN-un" and "GAHN-un-dorf"...that's just me anyways you don't have to agree.

I have three more that have been troubling me as well:

The Twinrova twins (forgot their names...because I rarely say them/pronounce them correctly).

And Deku.
Is Deku prounounced like: "Deck-oo" or "DIC-oo"? I've been pronouncing it the first way, but which way is correct?

I had a British substitute teacher who was making fun of the nasally American "ah" which brought "Ganon" to mind.
If I'm not thinking about pronunciation I often accidentally use the American "ah" in Ganon(dorf) but the other way requires more effort and it sounds like the name is more significant and ominous, not just another word tossed into the conversation. It's sort of like "Mordor". I usually just think "Mordor", but in the movie, esp. when Gandalf says it in FotR, it is pronounced slower, with more effort and the r is rolled, and it sounded like a dark, powerful word that wouldn't just be casually mentioned.
Koume and Kotake
I always called the former koe-MYOON until I actually read her name. Now I pronounce them koe-OOM and koe-TAKE
Deku
I've always said DAY-koo. I think that sounds better than the other ways.

Re: Pronounciations?

Hm...
I almost always just pronounce the names the way they are written, but I speak norwegian, so i can mix between a few languages.
So it comes pretty naturally for me.

BGS - I'd say Deku is pronounced more like "Dek-oo" than "DIC-oo".

I pronounce it with an norwegian - e (like the questioning 'Ehh...? - without the h) and an ending -u like the end vowel in 'shoe'.
You might not understand 'cause I'm good in explaining pronounciation with me being norwegian and explaining in english.

I don't remember what the Twinrovas names are either...

I may not be Norwegian, but I understood how you would pronouce the "e". And that's the exact same way I pronouce it. As for Koume and Kotake, I had to ponder for a little while longer (aka: a couple of minutes). I pronounce Koume like "Koe-OOM-e" (with the Norwegian "e") and then I add a spanish flare for Kotake's name: "Koe-ta-que".

Malon is pronounced ma-lon, because of Lon Lon Ranch. You see Talon and Malon's names both end in lon. Which why I guess Lon Lon Ranch is named Lon Lon Ranch. So I would think it should be pronounced ma-lon, ta-lon. I don't know if this is fact but it makes a lot of sense.

That's nice, you understanding me.
I can't explain very well to others than myself.
Anyway, I say it more like "Koe-oom" and "Ko-ta-ke".
Dunno about the spanish flare...

It's all a question about what you personally think sound best.

Re: Pronounciations?

Koume and Kotake
You know, I think KOE-taw-que sounds better than koe-TAKE, but I don't think stressing the penultima (koe-TAW-que)sounds as great. koe-OOM and KOE-taw-que is how I think I'll pronounce them from now on.
Deku
I'm sticking with DAY-koo as well because that's how I originally pronounced it, and I personally prefer it.
Mikau
I'm not sure if that's spelled right, but is it pronounced mie-KOO or some other way?
Farore
Do you pronounce it FAY-roar?
Nabooru
naw-BOAR-oo?

Re: Pronounciations?

OK, now we need someone who can speak Japanese. Namely ME! Some of the names are clearly Japanese and I think those should be pronounced like in Japanese.

Farore:
FáRÅrè/LÅlè

Koume:
KÅÅmè

Kotake:
KåTAkè

Malon:
MAlån/rån

Talon:
TAlån/rån

Bagu:
BAgù (I just didn't think it'd be fair if there's only OoT charecters)

Gohma:
GååMA

Dodongo:
Dådångå

Nabooru:
Nábåårù/lù

Darunia:
DàRUneeA/LUneeA

Saria:
Sárìá/lìá

Navi:
Nàvee/bee

Sorry for the Scandinavian letters. I just couldn't find a better way to explain it.

For the Twinrova, I always say KOH-meh and KOH-takeh. I believe that's how it'd be pronounced in Japanese. And Deh-KUU. That's how I always say it. ^^
