Zelda Love

In the first place, the main characters are Link and Zelda, Zelda because the name is called "The Legend of Zelda", and Link is the hero, so he is the main character as well. (check out the Logo Theory for further information about this topic).
Link, at the beginning of Ocarina of Time, was seen in a dream where he saw a blue eyed girl with another person riding a white horse getting out from a castle. Zelda does have predicting dreams, just like Link. Zelda had dreams of him and Link had of her; so in conclusion, they are somehow connected. (for further information, check out our Slogans article)
Zelda asked Link to help her save Hyrule, and he accepted. After all, he was the only one who believed her.
Link accepted Ruto's proposal in order to get the Zora Sapphire; if he wouldn't have accepted, she would have never gave the stone to him, so that proves Link is willing to do -anything- in order to help Zelda.
After awakening Ruto as a Sage, she tells Link "I know you're looking for Zelda, you can't hide it from me!" (err, we guess that sounded like a wife to her husband o_O XD)
When Link returns after seven years, Sheik guides him through his journey, and even protects him; heck, she gets to save Ruto! (now, who's the damsel in distress here?).
Link indeed seems to see something familiar in Sheik, and just tries to approach her, but she can't let him see her -yet- because that wasn't the right time to do it; she kept on hiding until Link could make a difference and protect her from Ganondorf.
When Link arrives to Kakariko Village and finds it in flames, he sees Sheik near the well. (a damsel in "distress" would not be able to run away, Sheik wasn't on that situation; she could have run away, but she didn't.) The demon from the well grabbed her and threw her away. Link, worried, ran to Sheik trying to help her, and even stood in front of her to protect her from the demon. When Link woke up from the unconsciousness, Sheik was beside him, only waiting for him to wake up and to see if he was all right, so he would proceed on his quest.
When finally Sheik showed Link that she was Zelda all this time, she said:
"I passed myself off as a Sheikah and hoped that you would return... I waited for seven years..."
Zelda waited for 7 years for Link to wake up. And she hoped that he would return to Hyrule so she could see him again and save Hyrule of course.
"Link in order to do this I need your courage again please protect me while I do my part.
And here is a weapon that can penetrate the Evil King's defenses the power given to the chosen ones." Zelda asks for Link's protection of course because if she didn't, darn, why did she wait for 7 years?
When finally Sheik showed Link that she was Zelda all this time, not only Link gets surprised; when she gets caught by Ganondorf in that jewel

(that's not a damsel in distress, that's a damsel inside a jewel not being able to move.) Link gets all worried like and tries to do something about the jewel to help Zelda but yet he fails.
"If you want to rescue Zelda, Come to my castle... hehehehe."
Why Link wants to save Zelda isn't because of what she said about her protection and part. It is because Zelda is Link's dearful friend or maybe even more than just dearful.

Link does have feelings ok? Who doesn't? He isn't like "Oh the princess asked for protection, so I will protect her." Yeah well, he protected her, but it's not just like that at all, he mostly did it because Zelda is his partner. (ever noticed the Triforce of Courage standing next to the Triforce of Wisdom?)
Still being worried about Zelda being trapped inside Ganon's castle, Link goes after a lot of stuff again...

When Link finally got all the barriers broken he went to Ganon's tower.(yes thats the room where Link's going to fight Ganondorf.)
When he see's Zelda in the crystal floating above Ganondorf's Orgin he shocks. Zelda looks at him worried, this is going to be the battle to death and she's going to see it with her own eyes.
But fortunately, Link gets to defeat Ganondorf, and when the tower begins collapsing, Zelda gets scared and worried about Link being hurt, she even stops walking because of that. (Try it, let a stone fall over Link inside the tower while collapsing.)When she gets inside the flame ring and Stalfos appear... well; she's a princess, but she's not a goddess, can't do miracles. She cannot jump over a ring of flames, because Zelda is a princess, not a warrior. Presumably, her ability to change to Sheik is a spell which changes her body features closer to those of a strong man and makes her very agile, thus in a better condition to fight. There's no suggested reason why she can't just change to Sheik at that time, but she never does it again after getting captured by Ganondorf; so that's why she couldn't get out of the ring and fight against the Stalfos. A possible reason could be that her magic is not strong enough for fighting, especially after the fierce spell she cast upon Ganon to help Link defeat him (Light Arrows). When Link beats the Stalfos, you can notice that Zelda gives you a reasonable bunch of hearts to fill your energy (or either if it's full she will give you rupees), so... -hearts-. Plus, she's not useless, she opened all the closed exits. (With cute Pink magic! XD)
When they get out of the collapsing castle, Link and Zelda look at each other -smiling- .(For more details check ZxL Image Facts) Suddendly they hear something coming from the fallen tower. Noticed how fast Link protects Zelda putting his arm infront of her?
Link gets to fight Ganon, and when he is weak, Zelda holds him with her power proving she -is- strong as well.


When they are in the sky and Link hands the Ocarina of Time to Zelda, (Noticed this is a secret goodbye, Only Zelda and the sages knows about it.) she goes all sad like, and places her hand over his, Link lets her. Why does she send Link back? Because he missed 7 years of his childhood, and she felt like she was responsible for that; see, how would you feel if you made someone lose 7 years of his/her life being asleep all that time? x_X
After the battle, Zelda returns Link to his own time. His quest is supposed to be over, yet Link goes to fulfill his destiny and meets Zelda at the castle, regardless. (This is not one of Link's flashbacks, Link meets her again.)
Some say that it would be boring to make the hero take the princess... but hey, if he preferred someone else, why bother on protecting her, rescuing her, guarding her, saving her? Say, someone asks you to do something for them, if you don't care for them, then you just don't do it o_o; Why bother on doing that when it's MUCH easier for him to do nothing and just go for the one he really prefers? That proves Link cares for Zelda more than everyone else he would care for.
Now, talking about Majora's Mask...

Zelda gives Link the Ocarina of Time, because he was very special to her, and also even taught him the Song of Time, having the argument that the song would really remind her of "them".
Zelda also told him that she feels as if she knew him from a long time ago.
Thanks to the Ocarina of Time he wouldn't have been able to handle time and get rid of being a Deku Scrub, so he wouldn't have been able to finish his adventure.
Talking about Link's Awakening...

First of all, what Link is having is only a dream, so well, he could hear Zelda's voice (it says so in the game instruction booklet). OK, it wasn't Zelda, but yet, Zelda plays a harp, and so the girl does. Always, in the games, without Zelda's help you can't finish a game, so she was Zelda, but with other name, even the girl and him had some feelings hidden, but yet, because it was a dream, they wouldn't be able to tell the real things. How about the cartoon?

Zelda is NOT a damsel in distress (for further information check the Zelda profile.)You can definitely see Link's preference: ZELDA. Yeah, you might say that Zelda won't accept that, but she loves him as well , she -does-. There are at least 4 chapters where they indeed show it. Here's part of the dialogue of the "The Missing Link" episode. (Thanks again Juliet)
Ganon snapped his fingers, vanished from the pink interior, and appeared in front of the jar, in front of the Triforce of Power. "Blast!" he exclaimed. "That must be the explanation. I captured only Link's body. His spirit stayed behind!" He thought for a few moments. "But one thing puzzles me. Why would Zelda be able to see him? Why, she could only do that if...no. No, im-impossible."
"What is it, Evilness?" the stalfo asked from inside the Evil Jar.
Ganon looked up to where the stalfo floated inside the pink gasses of the Evil Jar. "Why, Zelda could only be able to see Link if...if she was in love with him! Zelda in love with Link? Oh, how disgusting!"
On a balcony above the Evil Jar, Link faced Zelda. "Sooooooo!"
"Now don't get the wrong idea, buster!"
An extraordinarily pleased and conceded look donned on Link's face. "You love me, huh?" It really wasn't a question.
"Oh, I do not!"
"Yes, you do, yes, you do! That's why you can see me!" He was rather childish-sounding.
"No,...I mean..." Zelda paused. "Maybe just a little."
Link jumped up onto the balcony. His voiced boomed over the interior of the chamber. "Zelda loves me! Zelda loves me!"
Zelda reached up to pull Link down by his legs, but of course it didn't work, as her arms just passed right through his legs, though she did try several times. "Shut up, you idiot! They'll hear you!"
"Zelda loves me! Zelda loves me!"

Link always insists on Zelda giving him a kiss. There's a chapter where Zelda also wants to kiss him, but they can't... Though, that doesn't mean they don't care for each other.
At the beginning of the series, Zelda asks Link for help, and he answers "Hey for you Zelda, anything!" (Check out the Image Facts for more)
Let's not forget A Link to the Past...

The story before it is the alttp drama cd disk, made official by Nintendo's composer Koji Kondo!
Link and Zelda already met eachother before the game, They have this same
puppy love like in Link's Awakening with Marin. (the only difference here is that Zelda is real and Marin is not.)
Zelda tells about the Triforce and even asks Link what he would do if she was in danger.
There is also a hint in it where Link's aunt says: "The heroic strength that is love."After that sentence Link sleeps and suddendly here's a voice. It's Zelda!
He stands up out of his bed And shouts "ZELDA!!"

Ever played Link's Adventure?

Ganon cast a spell over Zelda which makes her go in a deep sleep, so not being able to help Link and such, he goes on his quest. Again, if he wasn't interested, he would have left Zelda sleeping for eternity. Once again, that's not a damsel in distress, that's a damsel in a sleep curse.
At the end of the game, you can see Link and Zelda together behind a curtain. (For more information, check the ZL facts images)
The Oracles...

If you link both of the games already beaten, you can see that Zelda kisses Link on the cheek and he blushes all like. (for more information check the ZL facts images)
At the ending of the game Zelda is very worried about Link and left the castle to search for Link, she doesn't care about her safety but mostly about Link's and about the people's safety!
She is also seen as the light of hope. If she dies Hope will fall in the humans. And the land will be strucked with evil!

"Zelda is a symbol of hope for the world! If anything happens to her, all hope will be lost! You must save Zelda! Please, Link, you must find a way to save Zelda!"

"at first glance I knew you were Link."
That is when Link met her for the first time.

The Wind Waker...

OK this is quite a lot now. If you have already played that game, you can see that it has been destiny the whole time. Zelda is NOT the damsel in distress, being Tetra has Sheik details in her whole outfit and arrives to help and save Link in good timing.
Tetra even Likes Link. At the bomb shop she winks at Link and giving him time to get the stone before she and the pirates does, and she evens gives Link's sister a free trip back to the Island.
When Link meets Ganondorf again he is too weak for him and when Ganondorf is about to kill him Tetra jumps in.
Link gets worried about her and even gets mad if Ganondorf mistreats her...She even fights together with Link to defeat Ganondorf by taking Link's bow.
And after the credits roll. She and Link sail through the seas! at the end, They go together to sail through the seas.
Have other friends that own Four Swords? (GBA)

Even if you don't play Four Swords, they let you see the beginning of the story. Again, Zelda asked Link for help, as the mage of the wind Vaati, was set free as the seal of the sword was broken. Vaati kidnapped Zelda and before running away, he said he would marry her. Now, Link went to save her...again; what we mean here is, again, if Link didn't care for Zelda, he would have let Vaati marry her... He even grabbed the Four Sword and divided in four, so he could save her... Link's strength multiplied by 4. Also that proved that Zelda doesn't deserve such a creep like that, she deserves better, and who's better than Link for Zelda?
Nintendo's facts

Nintendo had published a phrase that said "The Heroic strength that is love"... Talking about that, a hero doesn't save a princess because she says so... He does it mostly because of his feelings. You wouldn't save a stranger who asked for your help, now would you?
"Zelda's Letter - Z5 Some speculate that this famous document was a love letter, but in fact it was a legal document which allowed Link to pass through gates guarded by Hylian Soldiers. The letter was signed by Princess Zelda herself." (Phrase taken from www.zelda.com) In case you didn't know, the name of "Zelda" was inspired to Shigeru Miyamoto by Scott Fitzgerald's wife, Zelda Sayre. Zelda Fitzgerald wrote several love letters to her love, Scott. In case you don't believe us, You can go here to see one of her letters.
Shigeru Miyamoto in an interview of 100 Questions and Answers made by the Japanese magazine Famimaga 64 in December, 1997, and one of the questions was:
Does Link have a girlfriend?
Miyamoto: If it was Princess Zelda, it would be great. However, this time Navi [the fairy] is jealous of Zelda. So within the story, Navi feels something for Link.

In the E3 2004, the Mexican Official Nintendo Magazine "Club Nintendo" made an exclusive interview to Eiji Aonuma, mostly about the new realistic Zelda game upcoming. One of these questions, was:
CN: We have received a lot of e-mails in which our readers ask us "Will Zelda and Link someday have a romance?" This is a question that we couldn't let go.
Aonuma: Ha, ha. Good question, at the moment in this new title we're using a teenage Link and, as you all know, teenagers are emotional beings, so there are possibilities of seeing Link showing his feelings towards the princess. We don't know what could happen in the future.

Zelda
In the games you can't really notice who she really loves. but we all know that it's Link.
The Zelda cartoons gives us some hints what kind of relationship they have.
Zelda pretends she doesn't like Link at all in the love style but she has a little crush on him.
Zelda is also a hard to get woman in the cartoons (I don't know in Oot but I will come back later on that)
Captain N the show shows also some feelings from Link to Zelda
He got jealous when Kevin did all the tricks he wanted to show off and got him self into trouble. (hah that wuzzy of a Kevin Link was insured and still fight and Kevin with his stupid zapper >.< ) well anyway.....
In Oot (the game) Link has the most emotions for Zelda. Like slapping on the crystal when she was stuck in there.
He smiled at her, he protects her.
In the manga yes the manga is a very big hint for us all!!
Link Keeps thinking about the moment of him and Zelda meeting.
When he meets her, they had to run for Twinrova. Link killed Twinrova and the meeting goes on.
Link and Zelda both missed seven years. Zelda was also insleep and hide herself in Sheik while Sheik was caring on her wisdom.
When Link and Zelda wanted to hug each other or even kiss I don't know. Ganondorf comes (DAMN YOU GANONDORF!!!) At the end of the Manga Zelda wants to return Link back, Link wanted to explain why he saved Hyrule it was for her.
But Zelda felt too guilty and send him back T_T so sad I cried at that part.(I know I'm a wuzzy)
In Majora's mask they had a relationship too, I don't know if it's a love relationship but when your memories clear, Zelda says:
"You are already leaving this land of Hyrule, aren't you?
Even though it was a short time, I feel like I've known you forever.
I'll never forget the days we spent together in Hyrule...
And I believe in my heart that a day will come when I shall meet you again...
Until that day comes, please... Take this..." And then she gives him the Ocarina of Time.

Also when Link and Zelda get to run out of the castle and Link gets hurt, Zelda screams and puts her arm infront of her eyes, Ey.. See Zelda cares for Link, I mean you wouldn't like to see your beloved one get hurt.
Even when Link gets into a fight with Ganon, who screams at the background? Zelda

None of the other girls do that... And I never seen Link showing his feelings towards another girl. He actually showed his feelings for Zelda, Like shocking when she's in a floating crystal above ganondorf's head, when Zelda gets stuck into a crystal when Sheik reveals herself to Zelda.
Link even got the job from Impa to protect her since Impa became a sage.
And also with Ruto
"Hah I know your looking for the princess! YOU can't fool me!"
Link shocks.
If Link had feelings for others like Malon, he would be fooling her. But you CAN'T fool her! So no feelings for other girls.

If you want a better argument for Marin not being Link's dream girl, I believe in LA their bond was more of a strong brother/sister like bond. Evidence? When Marin sees Link, she is excited because it proves to her life exists beyond Koholint. Later she says something like "If you make a wish on the Wind Fish and he awakens, I wonder if the wish will come true." Soon after she makes a wish, but she awkwardly avoids telling it to Link. If you beat the game without dying, her wish comes true. The wish wasn't for her and Link to be together, it was for her to be a seagull, so their was no romantic love between Link and Marin.

When and where is this quote from ? I doesn't seem to correspond with anything in Oot,
there was no evidence that Navi felt anything "special" for Link.
Or, anything to show Navi was jealous of Zelda.

The winks just add to Tetra's sassyness. And prince Komali saves Link from
the Forsaken Fortress, does this mean he's gay and has a "thing" for Link,

What about the part when Link lifts Marin over his head and the games says "Is it your big chance?"? I really don't think that would mean Link liked Marin as a sisterly figure.

I personally hate Zelda. I hate princesses, I hate pink dresses, I hate jewelry and I hate royalty. Plus you mentioned a lot of "facts" that can't be proven. But thats already been mentioned. I personally believe Link and Tingle would make a better couple than Link and Zelda. (Yeah I hate Zelda that much, and no I'm not gay).

I can't believe that you hate Zelda though, that's like a slap in the face to the game series. That's like hating Lupin and watching Lupin III, that's like hating Kenshin and watching Rurouni Kenshin or Samurai X. And I don't see why people actually Link and Zelda can't go together, they have a great friendship, obviously like and trust each other and make an awesome team, not to mention are literally destined for each other. I don't Miyamoto would incessantly have Link and Zelda be paired together and to fight together and for Link to save her so he could go with Malon, that's just plain stupid. Malon and Link have nothing that could make them fall in love with each other, Link and Zelda do.
