Civil War of Hyrule?

Is that what that war was? The one that Link's parents died in?

I think it would be awesome if there were a game with the events surrounding the point of this War, and Link's birth, and his parents death. Kind of like a prequel.

What do you think?

Re: Civil War of Hyrule?

A game before OoT... that's what I'm hoping the '05 Zelda will we about. Maybe starring OoT Link's father in the war... That would be very interesting.

Re: Civil War of Hyrule?

That would be awesome.. But uh.. I don't think that's going to happen.

But hell, even a highly detailed fan fic would do! I'm not creative or smart enough for that, though.

Re: Civil War of Hyrule?

somewhere in Ocarina of Time, it is mentioned that before the King of Hyrule unified the land, there was a great war between the races of Hyrule...

i dont see why we would need the legendary hero for this particular war unless it has something to do with the Triforce...

Re: Civil War of Hyrule?

If they did make a prequel to OoT, would the game end with Link's mother running toward the Kokiri Forest carrying Link?

Re: Civil War of Hyrule?

Who was involved in this war? No specifics about the war are really mentioned in OoT, but I'd be really interested in learning about that.

Now, see, you know how in Wind Waker that it looks like Link somewhat and has the same name, but is actually his relative? Maybe possibly Link could have been named after his father.

And I was also thinking, it would have been cool to see Ganondorf as a young man. Him at the stage of where he just learned of the triforce, but didn't do anything about it, and was maybe a good guy at one time.

In the beginning of the game or fan fic or what the hell ever, it could be like a stormy night, and Link's mother could enter the forest and talk to the Great Deku Tree and be like, 'please take care of my son, Link,' and then dying at some point shortly after. I dunno.

When it was talked about in OOT, it said all the races of Hyrule were fighting. Hence.. That's your answer to who was involved in this war.

The birth of Princess Zelda should obviously be somewhere in all this, too.

Re: Civil War of Hyrule?

A prequel would be great since the timeline theories are so messed up ..why don't they do a timeline that actually is undouptful?? Link's birth in OoT...his parents and how he got in Kokiri forest..everything

That would definitly be a game where know one can discuss the what and when...okay they told us what happened but SEEING A REAL WAR would clear things up...

And anyway another zelda game is welcome anytime

Re: Civil War of Hyrule?

...Link wasn't born in OoT.

This is obviously not going to be a Zelda game. If anything at all, it'll be a fan fic.

The timeline isn't all that messed up really. Even though I disagree on a few things on this, go here and read: http://www.zeldauniverse.net/main.php?page=timeline

Re: Civil War of Hyrule?

Gah, why does everyone think that all the Links are related? They are just brought about as heroes by fate, not neccesarily relations in blood.
And I hope that Z'05 isn't about Link's father. We know enough about the Civil Wars.

A prequel would be cool...dunno how they'd make a zelda game into a war like thing it'd be too weird.

Nooooo.... That timeline is just fanfiction so do not trust it.

I don't think the next game will have anything to do with the Unification war,
I don't want to be fighting Zoras.
I hope the next game is a sequel to WW so we can find out what happened
to the great sea.
Zelda has all ready had three prequels ,FS, Alttp and Oot, so I don't think
they should do anymore (yet).

Re: Civil War of Hyrule?

It'd have a really sad and depressing ending if it was Link's father, since he dies obviously. What would be the motivation to play a game where your character dies on the last boss no matter what? And I doubt it'd be about him anyway, since he'd have no reason to go through dungeons and wear a green tunic with a pointy hat and he would only be a teenager, not an adult with a child. I doubt OoT will ever have a prequel. It just wouldn't really work...

Re: Civil War of Hyrule?

^ Agreed.

I mean, whats the point of playing a game that you already know your character is going to die anyway? It's like playing LotR: FotR in Boromir's POV, you already know he's gonna die anyway.

Also, they would have had to explain why Link's dad was wearing a green tunic, green hat, riding on a horse that looks like Epona, who, clearly was not born until OoT (She's a baby horse in Kid Link's timeline), and battling monsters instead of Zoras or Gorons or Gerudos.

Re: Civil War of Hyrule?

I'm kind of hoping for it to be a sequel of OoT/MM, personally. It would make sense, as technically Link of OoT has to relive his years 7 years in the future, as they merely became a possibility when he returned to the past.

Link doesn't have to relive his struggle with Ganon from OoT. At the end of OoT Link returned to his time as a child and sealed the gateway to the Evil Realm while Ganondorf was still in it. That would explain why Ganondorf is not a piggy monster in TWW.
The story of the Civil War would be better told in flashback sequences, rather than as a game, since it is probably more narrative based than gameplay based.

Re: Civil War of Hyrule?

Yeah, I know it's not possible for a game like this. A fan fic, though, could be.
