Post The Blaster Sword

I was re-playing some of the other zelda games te other day and it occured to me how how i miss the beam-coming-out-of-sword thing. In 3-d, this could be made to look even better. What do you think?

Re: The Blaster Sword

Uh huh. I was playing aLttP just today and I realised how great it would be to do that in 3D.But it'd make battles a smidgeon too easy in 3D, y'know with L-Targetting and all, unless they did something so it wasn't so easy.

Re: The Blaster Sword

It's in Majora's Mask. With the Fierce Deity Mask.

Maybe in future it could drain magic, or something, to keep it from making fights too simple.

Re: The Blaster Sword

Either that or just make it really inaccurate, so you'd only hit the enemy if it were standing still. Or if you were lucky you might hit it while it was moving.

It could do this. It would definitly make it a 'use only if you really need to' item.

It was suppose to be in Ocarina of Time originally, but it was removed.

Re: The Blaster Sword

Perhaps it's in Zelda'05? I'm assuming it's in TMC...
But yeah, it would look great in 3D. I don't remember it in MM, though, I'll have to replay it.
If it were to take up magic, however, it could accidentally drain your meter up if you don't want it to. It should just not hurt very much, I think.

Re: The Blaster Sword

I think they've compensated by giving Link a FAR more powerful spin attack option. The beam sword attack only really can work in 2D, with MM it was more or less thrown in there just so Oni Link could actually fight all the bosses (because otherwise he couldn't hope to harm the last 3) and it wasn't very effective either as it wasn't easy to hit a fast movie target let alone one that changed direction a lot.

I dunno, if they bring back the beam sword I want my bomb-arrows back too or if I had a choice I'd forget the beam sword and go bomb-arrow all the way.

That'd be the best way to implement it, if the game makers were going to ever bring it back. That would keep that battles tough.. and not let you stand far away and do everything.

Re: The Blaster Sword

IMO, if they were to have the beam-sword in a future Zelda it would make it less realistic. In real life, if I were to attack someone with a sword there shouldn't be any beams coming from it.

Re: The Blaster Sword

Using it so you had to have full hearts made it harder, a little... I don't think it'd work that well in 3D, but maybe they could fit it in some how. Draining magic might work too. It really would make things too easy...

And also, if its the Master Sword that does that, that wouldn't fit in with other games, and the best sword in the game wouldn't be the Master Sword.

Yeah, there's a lot of things they should bring back from 2D. Like the rings, my Cane of Whatever that makes blocks, the Gale Seeds (which I wish were in a lot of other games) and many other things...

Re: The Blaster Sword

It would be interesting, especially if you could integrate it with L-Targeting, but then it would be just like L-Targeting with Arrows, making it pretty useless. It would be good for some cool effect, in my opinion.

BigGoron Sword > Master Sword - heck it delievers more damage and even brings down Ganon faster if you're slashing his tail with it vs. the Master Sword (I can even reequip the BigGoron Sword after I pick up the Master Sword to deliever the "final" blow, unfortunately its the mastersword in the cutscene, lol)

I don't believe the should bring most any of those things back because they were designed for a 2D game, not a 3D one.

Re: The Blaster Sword

There's nothing wrong with bringing it back... some people said that mnario should be left in 2d but super mario 64 was a great game.

Re: The Blaster Sword

I think it could work in a 3d zelda if it was like it was in mm, only working when your locked on to something. Of course you wouldn't get this move untill you got the highest level sword. Not very ranged as it would only go for a little bit like in mm, but it would be great for enemies like fire, and ice kease.

Re: The Blaster Sword

They need to add that in the new Zelda game. That would look so awesome! I miss the good old days on the NES when you had all you heart containers filled up, and you can shoot magic from your sword. They need to put that in the game to make me happy.
