what is it about some fans being obsessed with Link marrying?

seriously, it does seem like it, all these posts I see all over the place about who he should marry and how it would make the game better if he could pick a girl

I think that stuff like that is best left to games like Harvest Moon, to me, the whole point of Zelda is for Link to save Hyrule, Clock Town, etc.

I agree! Just like it explains in the thread where it says Link isn't meant to find love.

i dont no why people are so obsesed with him getting married, when im playing im not bothered about who he should marry, im just looking for an other enemy to chop up!!!

It may be wanted if someone wanted to do something like a Link timeline/family tree and had some information to back it up or something like that, but we really shouldn't be worrying about it, unless you want Link to start up a farm.

I suppose it stems from the fans' desire to see the hero get the girl.

The idea of Link chasing girls wouldn't work well with an adventure game, especially since his personality isn't drawn out in specific detail like a character in an RPG.

That whold topic is kinda creepy.. he's JUST a game character. When we start talking about the "bust" of some of the female characters... not.. cool..

Well, it's a game, anything can happen, and it's not like it's against the rules to talk about a video game character being married. But then again, talking about bust (as .:Link:. said) is just freaking creepy.

Isn't the answer obvious? Link is little different from the super heros from comic books except for the fact that gamers control him through the story instead of reading the frames and having no chance to interact or invest much into it at all. Take a look at the recent Spiderman movies, Peter Parker has to give up the things that make him happy in order to fulfill his role as a hero. It just so happens that Peter Parker yearns for the love of Mary Jane above all else, which is no big suprise, human companionship is one of the most important and satisfying aspects of human life, why should Link be any different?

Heck he might not be exactly "human" but he is a senient character who is constantly fighting through conflicts that are well over his head but he selfless jumps in, even while heavily against the odds. Not only do we get to see Link struggle through such trials, we play as him and get to experience what he does. While the game isn't very real as dying isn't that big of a deal and I doubt gamers get as scared as they should be during some of the more overwhelming battles and situations, but the point is that you don't sit idly by while you read or watch the story, you interact with it and therefore invest more. Other heros and characters get their happy endings, all Link gets is "you saved Hyrule, yay!"

Heck, whoever said video game character don't have personalities - well they are right - because with such self sacrifice and such little reward to show for it all, Link might as well be a friggen robot

Heck, even Peter Parker questions himself and his role as the hero and despite that he still gets the girl. Link's resolve never waviers and he gets nothing - boring. THAT's why people care about Link getting a girl.

Well i dont think Link should get married. Or atleast not until there is absolute peace. Link is obviously in love with Zelda. Once you beat the water temple in OoT and awaken Ruto as a sage, she says that they couldnt fulfill their promise or something like that and says that he's looking for Zelda. Why do you think Link cares so much about her? They do seem to have a great relationship also. And i think there is a reason behind the creators of the game giving them both the same color hair, sort of a clue. Well, Link getting married would screw the whole thing up, end of story......

Well, I'm just surious to see if Link has any ancesters. If Link and Zelda did marry, then Tetra would actually be related to Link. See how intresting it is when you think about it like that. That's why people want to know.

Very ture. I find it that it isn't the Hero that's chasing the ladies...it's the ladies falling for the Hero. Just look at OoT, LA, and OoA for example. Eventhough they aren't the same Link, you can bet, they all have the same carisma and charm.

i think it just fine to wish link can marry someone, no one's gonna kill you for it. but ARGUING over links love???!!! yeah just pick a girl ya think fits with link and leave it at that, no point arguing "because link has gone through so much with her", "hero always gets the princess"
