Best Overworld Theme

Zelda is well known for its music, and some of my favorite themes are the overworld themes. Koji Kondo probably wanted to make these the most epic because they're the songs we're going to hear the most. No game has had a bad OW theme; they've all been amazing. I'll try to include as many as I can. I realize a handful of them are variations of the classic theme from the original Legend of Zelda game that everyone is familiar with, so I'll make sure I don't include two variations of it that are hardly different from each other. (For example, the OW themes from The Minish Cap and A Link to the Past.) If you want to listen to them, the youtube videos of their original game versions are posted below.

OoT. Definitely. It has so many different sections and is amazing all around. But I also liked ST's, TP's and AoL's a lot. Oh...and the Dark World of course. Pssh.

If Tal Tal Heights counted for LA...then I liked LA's a whooooooole lot too.

OoT's theme and TP's theme makes me want to bounce when I play because of the drumroll. I can't even stop myself from hopping around. And ST had that chuga-chuga...too fast to bounce to...but still really nice. xP

I also really wanted to include the Cloud Tops theme from Minish Cap because it sounds so much like an Overworld theme, it's original, and it's so upbeat and catchy. I actually consider it the main theme on Minish Cap, because you can hear a tiny part of it when the title screen comes up.

Tal Tal Heights is good too. That along with Death Mountain from ALttP were other things I really wanted to include, but didn't becuase they technically aren't main Overworld themes.

TP has the best overworld, it gives me the hero feeling the best.

My choice was Wind Waker's Great Sea. It's just so graceful and upbeat, it was the reason why I actually liked sailing, as infamous as it was for being "boring."

Listening to TP's theme reminds me of my cousin dancing obnoxiously to the song while I bounced around on her bed playing Twilight Princess...That was one heck of a Thanksgiving Break. xD Just her, me and Twilight Princess for an entire week. It was insane. Oh man...

Sky tops...I like. I like! The overworld is anything outside of a town or dungeon...but I understand what you mean by main main theme. I liked the climbing up the bean stalk song...That one was great too. AoL's is good too really. AoL's soundtrack is pretty awesome in general.

I voted OoT's Hyrule Field, it sounds like a lot of passion is put into making it. It makes me feel very nostalgic too.

Two others I really like also is AoL's overworld and TWW's Great Sea. Heh, none of which is the classic variation. Oh well.

Woah...the ST theme song links to MM's theme. Threw me off. But hey, I like MM's overworld too. xP

i voted for ST over world theme cause its upbeat, catchy,and just goes along so well with the game it self and for me one of the reasons i like to ride the rails cause i don't find the train boring it actually really enjoyable for me and the over world theme just adds to that joy of traveling from station to station, i also enjoy the over world theme for WW that one is just so... nice a calm, oh and sounds nice

God... I have just GOT to say HF(Hyrule Field) From TP. Too bad it wasn't orchestrated.

The Cloud Tops theme is amazing. It's definitely the best "overworld" theme I've heard (even though it's not actually an overworld theme). It kind of reflects a feeling of accomplishment because you're near the end of the game.

Anyways, I chose option 3 on this poll. No reason, other than the fact that it's my favourite...

ALttP has the best rendition of the Hyrule Field Theme, but I voted for the excellent Dark World
music because it is so unique and descriptive in the series

Though I really like it and personally prefer it over the actual Overworld theme they use in TP, I can see why they didn't use it. It just doesn't sound like it would go well with the atmosphere of the game and riding through the field on your horse. It sounds like it's meant for one of the more cheery and colorful Zelda games. There's also a part in there that instantly makes you think of Spirit Tracks. You'll all know what I'm talking about when you listen. I hope this theme is used for a future Zelda game, but not Zelda Wii because I expect that game to have a similar tone and atmosphere to TP. And maybe they can take out the OoT Hyrule Field intro just to make it more original.

I agree. I have this thing for upbeat things. And it didn't subtract from any sort of hero-ey feeling.

OMG! I've been looking for this for YEARS! >_< I LOVE THIS SONG! I remember hearing it in 2005 when I finally played the demo! It had a panflute and awwww....I love this song. TWW's beta song rocked too! Spirit Track' song reminded me of THIS song. I remember my cousin and I doing little duets to this song with our violins! I still find myself humming it randomly.

I was upset when the changed TP's song...but TP's song grew on me, and I realized I had replayed the Beta song to death...and it's repetitive! But hey...how about Tetra Tracker's theme?

That beta song is way better than what TP ended up with, but it totally clashes with the game's mood. I'm not sure whether I'm glad they replaced the song or disappointed that the game didn't live up to the beta music.

Anyways, I can't choose between LttP Dark World and WW sailing.

For the Wind Waker, the song repeats way to often to be enjoyable for me. Especially since the game forces you out at sea for so long. The beta song has the same problem. Games like OoT and TP had songs that adjusted to everything you did, it was beautiful. However with TWW it was the same little jingle over and over again.

I would loathe leaving any of the islands because Outset/Dragon Roost/soundless island or whatever didn't punish me as much as the Great Sea. When I play Brawl the Great Sea is always the least likely to play...it is my least favorite theme. That's not saying it isn't a good song, but hearing it for so long doing absolutely nothing but staring at the screen has left a permenant mark on my soul. :C

Great Sea because Wind Waker was my first True experience (I played bits and pieces of OoT at my Cousins') The Great Sea reminds me of countless hours of sailing around in the beautiful sea!
