Re: The Legend of Zelda Film Discussion: Volume IV

I watched an FAQ video from Richard Michael Alvarez, a man who made
Stupid Mario Brothers (it has Link in there too) and it is a series, and he said if he would direct, he'd like to direct a Legend of Zelda Trilogy.

Pretty sure we should keep him away from that... I would not want to hear "excuuuuuuuse me, princess" every couple of minutes

You said he directed "Super Mario Bros" and then mentioned Link in it as well which leads me to believe you were talking about the Super Mario Super Show which featured Link as well and his catch-phrase was, "excuuuuuuuuuse me princess".

Re: The Legend of Zelda Film Discussion: Volume IV

I hope I don't get flamed for saying this, but I would not mind if movie Link had a confident personality like 80s cartoon Link minus the cheesy catch phrase. IMO this would be better than Link being portrayed as a generically over polite & gentle spoken nice guy/sweetheart.

Oh no, it is actually a bunch of videos on YouTube, with all these Nintendo characters like Solid Snake, Ash, Brock, Gary, Bowser, etc.

That's actually a pretty good idea. Although I think the Link in the 80s cartoon was more cocky than confident though. I'd suggest him gradually be a bit unsure at first, but gradually grow into a confident man by the end of the movie/trilogy(depending on how many Zelda movies one intends to make)

Re: The Legend of Zelda Film Discussion: Volume IV

Agreed. I would hate for movie Link to mature into a cocky douchbag like 80's cartoon Link. I would only want him to be more assertive in social situations SIMILAR to 80s cartoon Link, instead of being a generic nice guy/sweetheart who rarely speaks and just politely follows orders.

OMG agreeance! I would love a confident Link... though maybe a bit shakey to begin the film with (and also if there are more films then shakey in the first film) but by the end of it, he is the most confident warrior ever! Character development FTW!

Super-fergus is gonna be pissed because we're discussing Link's personality....AGAIN...
I imagine a Luke Skywalker like personality. Nothing else.

For some reason, whenever I imagine what Ganondorf would sound like, Christopher Lee's voice comes in mind.

...Anyway

What about Amanda Seyfried for Zelda?

THIS IS SUPER-FERGUS HERE.
FATHER OF HERCULES.
WHY ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT PERSONALITIES?!

Oj guys, Oj.
Why would I be pissed?!
I welcome all debates, as long as they aren't pedantic.

I love whoever suggested the 80's cartoon for a personality.
Personally I love the cartoon.

Needless to say, of course, we could nit pick at what we don't like about the cartoon. I think it's universal that no one want's a kiss driven cocky bastard. So if we can all step aside from the obvious, appreciate a confident yet a teenage naive-ness about him.

Okay, so maybe that tears down a lot of the cartoon image,
but work with me guys. I don't want to sound repetitive, but again, a Skywalker like personality had me locked. Can't think of a better transfer.

I had thought about her too!
An excellent choice, and a flexible age too!
Putting aside where ever she's been pigeon holed in cinema at the moment.

Well, that's one thing.
She's not the prettiest, and I would of chosen another based on that,
but alas, she can act, and a Zelda character non the less, very well actually. She's very good in everything I've seen.

Yeah, I think she would be great. There's something about her eyes that I love. She almost looks like she has anime eyes or something lol. I think she's gorgeous as well.

She's also a good actress. She seems to have some range too.. From Mean Girls to Mamma Mia..

I think she would be fitting. I would be sold on her.

Now who would Ganondorf be? Voicewise, I think either Christopher Lee, or the guy who voices Scar from the Lion King. I imagine either one of those when I view his text

^I can't agree with Scar. He's got an amazing villanous voice, but not one which would fit Ganny. Scar is more of an intelectual, and not very physically intimidating. Ganny however is quite physically intimidating, and thus I think should have a more gruff deep voice.

I'm feeling it too. I think (based on looks) she would do well!

I'd disagree with that. I think she looks fine enough for the role!

I want a good actress above anything else really!

Besides that, what does that guy look like? Does he have a ganondorf look? I'd say the guy who plays Dr. House could do it if he bulked up a lot. He's got really dark eyes.

She's actually a pretty good choice. Can't say I ever considered her as Zelda before, but I won't deny she'd do a good job. My initial choice has been AnnaSophia Robb. Fergus was kind of turned off by the fact that she was in Race to Witch Mountain, but I usually emphasized her performance in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. She's relatively young, but by the time a Zelda movie is greenlit, She would be one of my top choices.

Again, me and Fergus both agreed that Gerard Butler would be a great choice. I personally would prefer low-profile actors(Just look at my choice for a Malon-type character a couple pages back), but Gerard Butler just seems like he's born for that role. He nailed the role of King Leonidas, a character which seems as a pinnacle of body-building, masculinity, both of which apply to Ganondorf incredibly well.
