Nintendo Power
Today I saw either last months or this months issue of Nintendo Power. It had a list of best Zelda games, idem, and such. As I looked through it was horrible. I'd say most of the fanbase would agree MM deserver better than 11th on a list of 13 games and that LA deserved more then like 8.
Which also brings the question, (probably very easy to answer) does nintendo actually listen it's fanbase at all? |

While I don't think MM should have been so low on the list, I can kind of understand how older people (the NP staff) would vote it lower. Many of today's MM fans are young and didn't really experience the older titles, so they're a bit biased. The staff at Nintendo Power are more likely to give a less-biased (won't go so far as to say 'unbiased') opinion on game rankings. Still, I think MM deserved a higher slot.

Re: Nintendo Power
When I read that article and saw MM at number 11, I nearly threw the magazine away in anger.
Besides MM though, everything else was placed pretty well, in my opinion. The original would have been placed further back though, and WW and TP would have been moved up a spot or two.

Re: Nintendo Power
The NP staff is the most biased group of writers I've seen... Zelda and Mario always get top 10
while excellent third party games aren't as 'innovative' as the next Zelda or Mario which barely changes a successful formula...

Re: Nintendo Power
Come on people.... Everyone has their own specific list of the top Zelda games. I myself don't agree at all with the article. But remember that its an article written by some random person who works at the Nintendo Power company. The only thing i found interesting was the best items, weapons, moments, etc.
Anyways, just don't be bothered by it. Nintendo Power is getting really boring these days. No more posters, specials, sweepstakes, etc. I might not renew my subscription for this year probably. |

Re: Nintendo Power
Ocarina of Time at number 1. Big ****ing surprise, there. This list is about eighty kinds of wrong.
(DX was the Gameboy Color edition, by the way. Stone tablets and missing chunks turned to stone owls and beaks, a photo album with Gameboy Printer functionality, an optional dungeon, and the removal of the Select Glitch.) |

Re: Nintendo Power
I agree with OoT being number one. WW, TP, MM are all too low.
P.S. Thanks TwilitProphet!

Re: Nintendo Power
Oh, I liked that article! Although I highly disagree with MM (no I haven't played it, but it looks amazing!) and WW being so far back on the list , Argorok being called the best boss (I hated that boss. It was way too dumb and easy. Even if it was quite dramatic.), and MC being considered to have the best overworld (WW's was better). Plus, although the Overworld Theme from LoZ, the theme from the whole series, is quite classic and well done, I don't consider it the best tune. I think the Staff Roll tune from WW is the best tune. And Midna's Lament from TP.

Re: Nintendo Power
I agree with the article.
Majora's Mask was a great game. It may have been better then a lot of the games on there, but as a Zelda game Majora's Masked failed to intrigue me with dungeons and instead intrigued me with a crazy amount of task inducing side quests with some being rewarding. The plot was simple and nice, but so short without digging into the beef of the game. Don't get me wrong Majora's Mask was an extremely great game. Anywhere else, it would earn a higher ranking for me. On a list of Zelda games though. I think Nintendo Power was very right with its placement taking into account classics and whatnot. EzloSpirit, Wind Waker's would have been better in my opinion if sailing wasn't a pain. I think that was NP reasoning as well. I'd also like to point out that Nintendo Power knew they were going to upset us and asked them not to get angry and kill them. They listen and know more then we think. ![]() |
