Eh, I'm not really fond of the "self love/homosexual romance" as you put it. I like how Saami described it- having Sheik a separate, male character that protects Zelda. Totally different from how the story actually is, but still very appealing. Or it is to me, anyway.

Selflove like Link x Dark Link isn't something I'm very fond of, mainly because I consider the whole "Dark Link" thing in OoT to be more of a symbolic battle and not a physical one, so I can't quite get myself to enjoy Link x Dark Link.

But, on the note of same-sex romances, I do support Midna x Zelda very strongly. I've also considered Anju x Cremia and Malon x Zelda, but they don't appeal to me like Midna x Zelda does. I dunno, I guess I just see the two princesses very compatible.

#1: I suppose it could be. Me, whenever I think of shape-shifting in general, I think of Power Perversion Potential. Why? Well, because I was scarred for life after reading that article. READ AT OWN PERIL.

#2:That I am in agreement with, mostly with the symbology part.

#3: I never really saw Zelda as a lesbian, but then we've never really seen her 'straight' (just kiss Link and end the debates already) either. I suppose it just depends on character interperetation.

I think AOL Zelda is straight she married Link in that game. =S (well coming from a nintendo power magazine interview with Miyamoto)

Btw I also like the pairing Linebeck x Jolene... Especially in the Phantom Hourglass manga.. Jolene is so cute while Linebeck well he didn't even know about her feelings!

I really don't see Zelda as a lesbian or bisexual in general either. But for some odd reason though, MidnaxZelda just seems right and I just really can't explain why except maybe they are compatible as Zeruda referenced.

The Link gay/bisexual pairings with Dark Link, Ganon, Shad, Fado, Rauru, and Colin are just funny crack pairings that to me should never be taken seriously IMO.

personally, i would've supported the Link x Medli, but that never filled out. so secondly, i guess, because Ruto was the only one who proposed to link, i'll have to say Link x Ruto. no comment.

If LINK WAS ME he would have been annoyed by Ruto as much as he would have been annoyed by Zelda/Sheik and Navi bossing him around. But as he is in the game, Link seems to like to politely follow orders from ANYONE. Whether the makers at Nintendo intended Link to be this simple minded and obedient is debatable. IMO it seems to ME at least that Link in general being very trusting & caring to anyone he meets and politely following orders is a signature staple of the series since OOT.

I don't support LinkxRuto but you make a valid point.

i made a very valid point sir. i said link x ruto cuz nothin else other than link x medli works for me. it was rather embarassing playing OoT in front of my sisters when i got to that point. hopefully you know how disturbing their responses get....

Maybe, but IMO it does not matter what the player feels about who they think Link was/was not ANNOYED with. The word "COMPLAINING" and Link just does not mix. Therefore in the case of OOT or in any of the other games, the chances of Link being romantically involved with any love interest does not make it more or less canonical in any way shape or form.

But I'm still OK with your LinkxRuto argument anyway.

why does Ruto seem to be the main argument here? i know she was the most annoying, but you saw her like once or twice in the entire game. you see Saria in that game more often. i dont think anyone's said Link x Saria yet....

Well for the record LinkxSaria = best friends forever IMO. I admit though that I believe Link's emotional bond of friendship with Saria was more profound than with Zelda, Malon, or Ruto without question. I just think ROMANCE is just simply out of the equation for LinkxSaria thats all.

If Saria could grow up, yes she would probably be Link's girlfriend.... But she stays as a kid and I don't support Pedo's. I loathe them.

Yes but even in a fantasy world Link would think of the consequenses that will affect on Saria, the kokiri's etc. Reason why he didn't mention his name to Mido in Oot.

I'm not sure it would have that much of an effect on Saria, other than the expectation that she work as an adult. As the age old cliche goes, "If they're together, she's happy."

I have no doubt Link CARES A LOT about Saria as he does about Zelda and just about EVERYBODY else for that matter. For me, since Malon is the ONLY love interest that Link is not obligated to save, that pretty much solidifies my belief on who OOT/MM Link will probably end up with as a normally matured adult in the Child Timeline.

Sure, when it comes to the whole closer bond of friendship = romance theory, then its Saria, Navi, and Epona FTW IMO. And that is exactly why I do not put much stock in this theory, and I still believe that either Zelda, Malon, Ruto, and even Nabooru are more likely to end up with Link instead of Saria.
