Official Zelda Romance Thread VI: Lovers in Legends

'Sup, everyone. This is the new thread dedicated to pairings. However, no poll shall be added as this thread encompasses every possible pairing in Zelda.

Ideas will be posted, flames thrown, comparisons to Hitler made and one debater will stand above the rest until torn forcibly down...such is the way of a shipping thread.

Post, discuss...and let slip the shipping dogs of war.

First post. Anyway I guess I'll say Ruto again like I have for the last couple threads. She showed obvious feelings for Link, and they even got engaged through the Zora's Sapphire. I didn't get why Link found her annoying to be around besides that he never properly aged after 10 years old.

A new thread afterall, eh? Mmkay, then.

Ruto x Link is neat, but more for humor's sake. I mean, Ruto is obviously a stubborn romantic- she knows what she wants, and she wants to marry Link. She gives Link her stone- the enagement stone, pretty much- and is completely convinced that they will marry one day. When you meet her as an adult, you come to understand that she wasn't kidding at all. She scolds Link a little bit for having kept her waiting 7 long years. Once she awakens as a sage, she understands the situation Link is in and has to give him up to destiny.

Still, there is proof of her love for Link. She waits for him! That's a long time to wait for somebody who just disappears. So, she's loyal. She also makes a jealous remark about Princess Zelda when she realizes Link is searching for her. This means that she definitely doesn't want any other woman to have a chance at taking what she considers to be her man.

A lot of people bring up the difference in race, but hey, it's just a game. I'm not exactly sure if they could have kids seeing as Zoras lay eggs, but it might be possible. I mean, look at the platypus... But who's to say they'd go ahead and have kids?

The only problem I really see with this pairing is that Ruto seems to be a handful. Sure, she does mature and become a wise, understanding woman, but she also seems to retain that bossiness. I'm not so sure Link could handle that for too long.

Honestly, I have no idea what people see in Ruto/Link! Ruto IS annoying (especially when she gets older) I mean some pairings I can understand like Ilia/Link (even though it annoys me, I still get it) but Ruto/Link...Really?
Anyways, the only pairing I see with Link is Zelda (Tetra is an exception) I mean hello they like belong together! But of course it's just an opinion... O and I apologize if I offended anyone or made someone incredibly mad... Link/Zelda! (Feel free to befriend me... Gosh I'm desperate)

well. I like malink and dink(din/link) as well as tetlink. though I find dink the most likely. I mean look at this!

In WW its LinkxTetra all the way. But I like the LinkxMedli alternative pairing for sure despite that it is very unlikely. Since WW Link is just a kid no romance until adulthood.

In OOT, despite the crappy graphics there are more than enough hints that Zelda and the alternative love interests COULD be romantically in love with Link, especially Ruto. But with the intended ambiguity aspect of Link having the heart and mind of a child, there is no room to believe or speculate that Link had any mature Romeo/Cassanova type of feelings for any of the love interests. I still believe that as a normally matured adult in the Child Timeline, Link either marries Malon or he marries no one. With that said, I think in all fairness Zelda, Malon, and Ruto seem to all have an equal chance to end up with Link in the Child Timeline.

In TP, this Link is the first 3D Link to be depicted as a normally matured teenager who seemed to have some type of emotional feelings for Midna and Ilia and they both seemed to return those feelings as well IMO. The LinkxZelda pairing in this game just does not exist no matter how hard I try to read deeply into things that are not there and never will be.

The way I seee it, there are only two pairings for Link. There's Malon, or there's Tetra. I know most people are Link / Zelda, but all she really does is tell you what's going on, then go and get captured. She's really a pain in the neck!

Caden, you're right. There is nothing with Ruto. I just see her as annoying. All she does is get captured (kind of like Zelda, annoying) then yell at you if you leave her behind, which is hard not to do. Then, suddenly, she wants to get married. Good thing she's a sage, or Link would have to put up with her bossiness for the rest of his life. Poor guy!

Then we see Saria. They're friend, but only that. Link barely even shows emotion when she gives him the Ocarina, or he is scared at the thought of romance, and THAT'S why he runs away.

Sure, Link likes Midna, but she only appears in one game. Tetra appears in two, and Malon appears in two, and has two cameos. Not to mention, Midna is GONE. Back in the Twilight Realm.

So I've shot down all but two. Tetra would be fine with me, as he shows some feelings for Link, and Link seems to enjoy her company (when she's not shooting him out of a cannon).

Then my favorite, Malon. The first time you see her, she is swaying, back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and back and forth. (Or at least more then everyone else does.) Then she asks you to sing with her, and she also calls you fairy boy. Seven years later, if you help her bring the ranch back to peace, she gets SO excited and says, "Thank you, Link! Thank you!" Altogether, she is the best choice for Link. Not, to mention, in her adult form, she is the prettiest girl in any Zelda game.

So there.

I was annoyed by Ruto as well, but I never felt Link was annoyed with Ruto at all. He seemed to be perfectly OK with politely following Ruto's orders. IMO if Link ended up with Ruto, he would more than likely be content in being bossed around by her no matter how over bossy she might be. Just like Link would probably still be happy and content in being bossed around by Zelda or Malon if he ended up with either one of them.

Which is kinda creepy now that I think about it.

I'd say Nabooru x Ganondorf!

In seriousness, Zelda or Malon would work best (OoT era) not just because of the probable anatomical differences in the Link Ruto pair up but really because they show more interest, Malon especially. WW wise, tetra, easy. Same goes with TP which I'm not even going to start on.

MaLink, which I have personally renamed as MaBoi. That's some awesome wordplay right there.

Link & Tetra all the way make an awsome couple (WW)
but for oot i would say saria in childhood (if only she could grow up) but yea malon and link for adult. Tp: link & midna always but Tbh i prefer midna in imp form

This forever and ever. Except I'm also quite partial to Ganondorf/Zelda. So yeah.

In recent years, Zelda's become something of my fandom bicycle. I ship her with Ganondorf, Dark Link, and Sheik. Yeah. I'm cool like that.

Ar, har, har yesssss.

I enjoy letting the Bad Guy have a romance, tragic ones in particular. I love Nabooru/Ganondorf because the romance, if it existed, would have been a tragic one. I also like seeing contrasting characters pair up, so that's why I enjoy Ganondorf/Zelda as well. Ganondorf is so deliciously evil while Zelda is so ripe with virtue.

I've also enjoyed Dark Link/Zelda, but differently from the way most people have it. I don't quite enjoy seeing Dark Link as a separate entity, but more of a dark side of Link, so.... I guess Link/Zelda, but with Link's darker side having taken over.... did that make any sense?

It makes sense. But I can only ship Dark Link/Zelda when Dark Link is a separate entity. But that's because I've given him a name and can't imagine him as being part of Link anymore.

Yeah, GanonxZelda, NabooruxGanon, Dark LinkxZelda are really good ones that I certainly have no problem with. But I'm unsure with the ZeldaxShiek thing. Could you or anyone explain to me how this pairing can work out??

Got it. That makes a lot more sense.

While the whole Sheik being Zelda thing was a nice touch, I do so wish was a separate person. I mean, the whole time I thought he was this mysterious, badass ninja dude with a turbin n stuff. And then WHAM! Princess.

The idea of Sheik/Zelda is appealing to me. :>
