Spelling errors fix'd

But to be on topic, I think that if they turned it into an MMORPG or sold the rights to another company or took out all of the core Zelda elements away would throw me off of the Zelda Fan boat.

Firstly, i doubt Nintendo would screw us over like that and secondly, i thought TP was an awesome game.

Re: Zelda Fan no more!

Probably nothing.

I'll have the old games to keep me entertained, and I'll play the newer games and form my opinion on them before I call them stupid.

Oh, if Miyamoto dies/retires, I'll cry. I really will.

Applying too much technology to it is where I draw the line. I like Zelda for its other worldy feel. Majora's Mask had subtle touches of technology (lights, ceiling fans) and it made it unique in its own sense... but a train? Really?

I truly prefer Zelda games that are played by foot or on horseback (because horseback is optional, you don't HAVE to utilize it except to jump over some fences).

If they completely changed Zelda to give it guns or modernized crap, I'll stop playing the new games. The only thing that would get me to quit playing even the old games is if they did something to tarnish the name of the Zelda series as a whole. I don't think Nintendo is stupid enough to do something like that, though.
I'd have to agree. PH tries too hard to apply the DS pen with everything. I'm a very old-school gamer(Mainly SNES and N64), so needless to say, I'm more for using actual controllers and directional buttons, rather than guiding Link and sword techniques with a pen.

As for a modernized/Futuristic Zelda, I'd give in the benefit of the doubt and at least make the effort to rent it. It really would come down to how they(Nintendo) would execute it.

Re: Zelda Fan no more!

I don't think anything could stop me from playing Zelda.

There have already been a couple games that were a little disappointing to me, but that won't make me give up.
I will always at least give the new ones that come out a try. I have more faith, I guess. And if they all just start sucking, one after another, there will always be the older ones to replay. ALttP sucka!

And to what you said, kreebby, even if they made a more modern version of the classic Zelda story, with modern technology, I would still play it. It might actually be pretty cool to see something like that.
EDIT: Actually, a futuristic version of the classic Zelda story might be even cooler than a modern one. It could have a lot of potential for being badass. And it would still be very fantastical.

Re: Zelda Fan no more!

Old Zelda games, I will love forever. No matter what happens to the series, my LoZ on my NES will always be the same.

Now for new games, They could do alot to ruin it for me (and in a few cases may have already). However, once every couple of years, and after a run of a few crappy titles they release an awesome kick ass zelda which completely wins. So as long as there is at least 1 decent zelda game every couple of years, I will still remain loyal.

Re: Zelda Fan no more!

I was going to say nothing. But then I remember how EA bought out WestWood and the magic of the Command and Conquer games just vanished. They aren't fun anymore. So I'd say if EA bought out the rights to make Legend of Zelda games, I'd stop buying them. But I'd probably always buy them no matter what Nintendo did. I don't think there is any human way to mess them up so bad they aren't fun. Maybe they won't feel anything like old LoZ games, but they will still be fun in some way.

Re: Zelda Fan no more!

Not much really. I'm sure you can count on SOMEONE at Nintendo wanting to keep the series awesome. And I agree, there are always a couple of lame ducks before the B.A. ones come out. I want the next game to impliment Wii Motion Plus. I know some of the older crowd out there (my first Zelda game was OoT) won't like that, but as long as it's implimented correctly and they don't try to cater to the casual gamers, it could be awesome. Also, I agree that a futuristic Zelda could be amazing. Like the dark side of Galaxy.

As soon as we get Zelda Party. Link's Crossbow training was close, but not that bad, and it was pretty obvious that it was just a minigame used to sell the gun holster thing.

Re: Zelda Fan no more!

I don't think anything will steer me off track. Anything that may happen, no matter how hard it gets, probably will not stop me from playing. Zelda is a big part of my life. I grew up with it and it was my world to escape in. It's kind of like saying I will never watch any Star Wars again because of the prequels. True the prequels where bad, but does not differentiate the fact that you grew up and loved Star Wars.

Shigeru Miyamoto didn didn't make Majora's Mask or Wind Waker, and he's retiring in several years...

Re: Zelda Fan no more!

Ill stick with it even if it continues in its downword sprial and makes several awful games and a Zelda party, In that it switches Genres, lacks any continuity of the previous games in a attempt to shove in more "bang bangs" and has link running up the wall and Zelda wearing a nothing but a minivest and a thong and a lack of any involving plot, then I may just give up on it, But luckily Zelda is the only real mainstream adventure game (or rpg even though its not) that hasn't sold out yet.

Nothing really.
I'll still love the Zelda series, even if Nintendo stuffs up and makes it the worst game in the history of games.
But that doesn't mean I won't be disappointed.
