What would he have done for those 7 years?

And when he finally pulled the Master Sword, could he have obtained the
Triforce, and would it split?

Playing hide-and-seek with Ganondorf in the forest after refusing to open the Door of Time for him.

I don't suppose so, because if you remember in ALttP the TForce doesn't split when Link obtains it. Then again Ganon gets it without it spliting before ALttP. Maybe as stated in OoT by Shiek before she reveals herself as Zelda she says something along these lines: If one who split the TForce collects the pieces he lost, he will obtain the Trueforce (complete TForce).

So what I'm saying is that it is quite possible that when Ganon touched the TForce it, recognized him, and didn't split. Back on subject that Link couldn't have been recognized because he hadn't even known of the TForce until part way into the game, therefore had no connection to the ToC from past Links, then meaning that the TForce finding him worthy of the whole thing.

Also I think a mod should move this to the Theorizing section.

This is a good question. It's hard to say what he would've done during those seven years. But, given the event's preceding him opening the door of time, I'm not sure it could have played out any other way. At least not significantly.

I'm not a theorist, nor am I up on the actual lore of the Zelda universe but if I remember right then yes, that's the only way he can KILL Ganon. Though, at the end of OoT he doesn't actually kill him.

Oh, okay. That's why I was unsure.

I'm pretty sure that Link was either in a deep sleep or unconscious for those seven years. Or in a magical coma that allowed his clothes to change with him or something.

He picked up his GBA and played Golden Sun!!!

Nah, tbh none of us will ever know, but it's likley that he was put into stasis for the time being.

maybe one of those hyperbolic chambers, like from DBZ and he trained for 7 years.
