Which Mini-Boss is the most memorable?

There is a lot of talk about the main bosses of the Zelda series, but what about those irritating characters half-way through the dungeon that guard the dungeon's item: the Mini-Bosses. Which Mini-Boss/es are the most memorable for you and why?

For me the most memorable was Dark Link from OoT's Water Temple. IMO he's the most intelligent opponent in the Zelda series and certianly one of the hardest to fight. I eventually end up just using the Megaton Hammer against him.

A close second would be Darkhammer of TP’s Snowpeak Ruins. I died several times at his hands and when I did finally beat him I was nearly dead. It wasn’t til my second run through that I realized I could stand next to him and not be hurt by that ball and chain.

EDIT: I plan on keeping a running tally and eventually starting a new thread where the top 10 Mini-Bosses face off against each other.

Re: Which Mini-Boss is the most memorable?

I agree with Dark Link being one of the most memorable.

Also though... Nabooru as an Iron Knuckle in Ocarina of Time. The fight never gave me a problem but the circumstances really caught me off guard. I had yet to see something like that in a Zelda game and I thought it was really creative. I wish they had expanded on that as a subplot.

Also Igos du Ilkana from Majora's Mask. That fight was particularly fun.

And so I don't feel like a fool who only lists N64 Game villains...

The ball and Chain guy from A Link to the Past when you rescue Zelda the first time.

Re: Which Mini-Boss is the most memorable?

Death Sword from TP. I love him. The again Iron Knuckle from OoT can't be forgotten ever. My favourite one would likely be Igos du Ikana, King of the Ikana kingdom. Not because of the fight, the two mentioned before win with the fight, but because of the king's personality. How he sees the error of his ways yet still stand by the throne like a king should even after seeing his country laid to ruin and endless death. A true noble king with his mistakes and all. No fairytale happily ever after but truth, death and mistakes. He sees why thing went wrong and people don't usually see that, but then again things rely did go wrong and the entire country is cursed even after Majora is defeated. I love MM because even after the great horror is taken away there is still a world with it's issues left behind. Majora's Mask did not start all the trouble in Termina and therefore defeating him will not take them away. In the end there is only fraction that Link could do in Termina when comparing to other games where the issues start only after the appearance of the main evil force. Termina is so much more real than any other Zelda game in that way. I like it.

For me, the most memorable mini-boss is Death Sword from Twilight Princess. I loved his design, and the fight was really fun.

Also...

I reckon you're exaggerating a bit. I didn't find Termina to be any more "real" than the other Zelda worlds, and the issues that Link left it with were fairly minor compared to the issues he left Hyrule with in OOT. Seriously, Hyrule has far more problems at the end of OOT than Termina at the end of MM: the entire kingdom was pretty much destroyed, and its people were living in fear for seven whole years - it would take them ages to piece their lives back together, and probably a whole lot of therapy. On top of that, the king is apparently dead and Princess Zelda is left to cope with the guilt of effectively giving Ganondorf access to the Triforce in the first place. Bad times.

Re: Which Mini-Boss is the most memorable?

Three come to mind. Death sword from TP because of looks and the actual fight, Gomess from MM for the same reasons as Death sword, and Dark Link from OoT because the first time I fought him I died...more than once.

Re: Which Mini-Boss is the most memorable?

Simple answer: Dark Link.

He is the only one that actually puts up an real fight... the others are simple a question of using the correct item and discovering the weak point.

Dark Link and Baboon Butt are the two that come to mind when someone says mini-boss.

Re: Which Mini-Boss is the most memorable?

The Garo Master is the most memorable miniboss for me, followed by Gomess.

You walk into a room. A ninja appears above the ceiling and confronts you. He jumps down (like 30 feet) and fights you with two flaming swords, teleporting all the time. When you beat him, he tells you another secret and commits suicide right in front of you with a flippin' bomb.

If that ain't memorable, I don't know what is.

Dark Link from the Water Temple was awesome.

One of the most memorable and irritating was the Geck thingy from Majora's Mask. The frog guy. Particularly in the Great Bay Temple.

Re: Which Mini-Boss is the most memorable?

These seem to be the leaders so far (listed in no particular order):

Death Sword of TP' Arbiter's Ground

Iron Knuckle (Nabooru) of OoT's Spirit Temple

Wart of MM's Great Bay Temple

Dark Link of OoT's Water Temple

Igos du Ilkana of MM's Ancient Castle of Ikana

Gomess of MM's Stone Tower Temple

Dark Link from OoT, for sure. He's challenging and actually puts up a fight against you, threatening your life.

He was awesome.

Re: Which Mini-Boss is the most memorable?

I really liked Subterror from Oracle of Ages (the Blue Mole with a drill on its face), because his weakness was the shovel. I found that kind of amusing.

I did also like the the turtle head outside of the Turtle Rock (in Link's Awakening). I don't really know if it was a mini-boss, because the fight didn't take place inside of the dungeon. And I do think that Blaino was the mini-boss in that dungeon. Anyway, I thought that it was pretty creative of them to use a part of the dungeon as an enemy. The battle itself maybe wasn't that exciting, but it's still very memorable to me.

Re: Which Mini-Boss is the most memorable?

I would have to say that the most memorable mini-boss was wizrobe from MM. No matter how many dungeons you went through, he always seemed to be there, in a different form, taunting you >_< I really had no choice but to remember him.

Dark Link from OoT definitely, very challanging battle and it was cool to fight the dark side of yourself, plus the atmosphere of the room you fought in was great.

Re: Which Mini-Boss is the most memorable?

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with OoT's Dark Link. He's just one of my all time favourite bosses because he's challenging and fun to fight, plus the idea is pretty badass on it's own.

I'd have to say the suited up guy in Wind Waker who you fight in the Forsaken Fortress when you just recover your sword. I'm serious. I'm not sure if he counts as a mini boss.
