Re: Would you sacrifice Wii graphics for a more complex and longer game?

TP was made for GC. It was transfered to the wii with the same graphics of the GC version.

Re: Would you sacrifice Wii graphics for a more complex and longer game?

I like good graphics, but they're really not super important. Maybe a compromise then? Reasonable graphics as well as a longer than usual story or such.

If it was super super long it might get annoying, so it'd be a fine line between a good, interesting, replayable length, while not being so long it feels dragged or stretched out.

It would be nice. :]

Just because ****ing third party developers treat the Wii like a PS2 with a funny controller doesn't mean that's all it's capable of.

I dont know. As good as a long story is, if you over do the temples and story, it starts to seem repetitive. I thought oot had alot of temples, now 6 more? The story would go dreadfully slow too.

Re: Would you sacrifice Wii graphics for a more complex and longer game?

Hey MM is so far the best looking game even after TP got out so no problem in that one. But then again the great look of MM comes from the aggressive use of colours and fine detail in the backround having actual images and not just something that looks more like a rock than a few tones or grey with spots in it. And the fact that MM has a small world adds to the looks so I don't think they could make it work if it was larger like that. But then again you don't have to have many temples just good ones like MM proved. Make them more complex, add more difficult puzzles and for crying out loud loose the stupid sidekick. Number does not replace quality so I think your question is rather stupid. And surprisingly this time I was not trying to be mean.

Re: Would you sacrifice Wii graphics for a more complex and longer game?

While I don't have any problem at all while playing N64 (not even after playing MGS4 for 2 days in a row and then OoT) I wouldn't like a new game to have 64 graphics, it would be quite dissapointing, and "sacrificing" graphics wouldn't help the story or the lenght in the least, if you are worried about the disk space, Nintendo is not even close to filling it, they actually put useless crap in the disks to make them heavier for some reason, if it's for development time, I would wait 10 years if it's necesary for me to get a perfect game in all senses.

Also, more temples defineately does not equal a better game, neither does "more" story.

As long as the game doesn't become tedious. No boring fetch quest, please.

That's not true for every game... However, there is hardly any game which uses a doulbe layer DVD on the Wii (the only examples I can think of are Smash Bros and Metroid Trilogy), and they could always use more than one disk for the game...

Re: Would you sacrifice Wii graphics for a more complex and longer game?

It would depend. If Ninty used the maximum disk-space on Twilight Princess Wii, then i probably would go for sacrificing graphics for more gameplay. But if they didn't, then no. I'd see if they could maximize the disk-space first before sacrificing.

Actually, yes. And i wouldnt mind if it were done FSA style. In fact, i think i rather prefer that to N64 graphics.

They probably didn't use the maximum disk space even in the gamecube version, wich would be about 1.5 GB, I think a dual layered Wii DVD thing can hold more than 8 GB.

I wouldn't mind a 2D game in the Wii either, I would actually like to see one, FSA looked very good, a lot of SNES games actually look very good even by today standards I would say, but when it's 3D it's completely different...

No, because the WIi is just two GCs stuck together with masking tape lololololXD!!!1

To answer the question, no, I wouldn't. You're asking if I would sacrifice the aesthetic beauty of a new game, that carries with it the charm of the world of the game that we love, for the sake of a longer more complex game. Well, for one, games can be too long; they over stay there welcome and get tedious. Would I have added an extra 7 dungeons to OoT or ALttP? No, I wouldn't have. Besides, Zelda should be a game that prides itself of its simplicity and accessibility.

We all know and understand the old rule that good gameplay can save a game with bad graphics, but good graphics can't do the same for a bad game, but that doesn't mean that a good game and good graphics are mutually exclusive concepts. You wouldn't say the same about the music, for instance. The graphics build up the atmosphere of the game. Final Fantasy, Oddworld, Okami; none of these would be anything near the same game without their graphics.

(speaking of Okami, that would be one game that could have done with fewer levels/fewer multiple headed dragon boss fights)

The obvious counter to this is that you can have style and atmosphere even with low-tech graphics, but it's not the same; every generation adds new layers to the aesthetic qualities of a game. OoT was beautiful for its time, but it's got nothing on WW, for example.

Of course, but i mean keep the horse back fighting and the secret trechniks and story, not like OoT,where you just beat temple 1after the other

Re: Would you sacrifice Wii graphics for a more complex and longer game?

I think it would be cool if they made a longer game. For me, I'd like a game which has a lot of dungeons and side quests. If they had to make the graphics not as good, I'd be ok with that just as long as it doesn't have WW type of graphics.
