The Fire Emblem Discussion and Crack Pairing Thread

Alrighty, it's about time we have a new Fire Emblem thread again!

All FE fans are welcome to discuss the series as much as they want in here. I'll even throw in a favorite game poll as well, like in the last thread I made. Discussions can go from favorite characters, weapons, maps, games, chapters, and more to strategies for beating each chapter in whatever game to what choices to make when choosing the right skills to give your units.

Rules:

• No posting inappropriate images (that includes Ike and Soren stuff too, people)

Uh... there's really not much else to say.
Cue arguing about characters.

...Seriously, though, Florina's gotta be one of the best units in the series (from my extremely limited-- read: almost no-- knowledge on the series). Nothing ever hit her by endgame, and if it did, it usually didn't do any damage or did minimal.
Seriously, she was like my favorite unit in FE7.

I personally don't like Hector. He caused me to give up on the game because he kept dying. I don't know why, I always hear he's a beastly unit who kills like a lot. Weird.

Eliwood is <3 though. I hardly ever get into the female characters.

I like Marth.

I like manly Marth.

(he got manly in FE DS)

Hector is awesome period, Eliwood was a pansy for me, and Marth is okay. But he's a girl in every game he's in.

I like Sigurd.

But you people don't love SNES FE's, do you?

You kidding? FE4 is an absolute masterpiece.

And why is it that Ranil always seems to group to Japan exclusives together on the poll?

Never played FE6 and under.
Although I read about a lot of things that make me not want to play them, such as the lack of ability to trade items between teammates. That's just... argh.

Because I don't think those games have been played as much outside of Japan as the ones that were internationally released. Also, I'd have to group some together anyway even if I didn't want to because there are more than ten FE games now and I can only do ten poll options.

Also, my CR says who my favorite character is.

Eliwood, Ephraim, Sain, Seth, Elincia, Boyd, Oscar, and Ranulf are also awesome. x3

...yeah.

So anyway I've never played a NES or SNES FE game yet. Which do you suggest I start with?

That can be a pain, but you can trade indirectly, in FE4 at least. A unit needs to sell the item at the pawn shop in a castle, and the unti you want to have it needs to buy it. Can be a pain, but it doesn't diminish the fun factor and overall awesomeness of the game.

So anyway I've never played a NES or SNES FE game yet. Which do you suggest I start with?

Everyone's probably going to suggest 4.
I can't remember the title because it is long and stupid-sounding (in English and Japanese).

I'm a big fan of FE7. I love the story, cast of characters, everything. One of my favorite games, for sure.

The three lords turn into disgusting rape machines. It almost bothers me.

People usually just refer to it as FE4 anyway.

And yeah, FE7 is also an incredible game. Definitely the best one released internationally, by far. By the end of the game I have an army of units who are one-man armies.

I'm a big fan of the Tellius series. RD's ending seems to possibly set up for a third addition to it though. Is there a good possibility we'll see the legendary Ike again but on another, new continent with a new cast of characters and story?

FE7 is a good game too, as well as Sacred Stones, but they aren't my favorite.

No there is not. The ending of RD gave a very strong sense of closure. Deluding yourself into thinking it left the game open to a sequel doesn't mean it will happen.

Hehe, yeah. None of them got to stupid strong levels that Ike did in PoR for me, but they were close.

I used Ike almost exclusively because he was the only character I actually liked in that game. I ****ing hate the rest of them. Horrible. Seriously, though, it listed how many kills each character has, I think Ike had upwards towards 400.

If anything the poll should be structured as

Tellius series (Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn)
Monsho no Nazo (3)
Seisen no Keifu (4)
Thracia 776 (5)
Rekka no Ken (6)
Fire Emblem (7)
The Sacred Stones (8)
NES series (1 and Gaiden)
Shadow Dragon (11)

Just group the NES games together, and the Tellius games together.

How so? Ike didn't marry. He left to explore new areas. Either Soren or Ranulf went with him. I also seem to recall something similar happening in the Zelda series at the end of OoT too, and look! We got MM!

But this is an FE thread and my own speculation. I also never said it will definitely happen, only there is a good possibility. Hell, Ike doesn't even have to be the main character. He can be a Titania or Soren or someone of the like.
