The Fire Emblem Discussion and Crack Pairing Thread

Shadow Dragon was awesome, and the graphics are great. Although I actually I did prefer the GBA graphics to the new 3-Dish graphics, that doesn't mean the DS graphics suck.

The sprites look muddy and awful. It's like they couldn't decide if they wanted 2d or 3d characters.

...On second thought, you might be right.

Shadow Dragon's visuals are atrocious.
They made the WORST possible move they could ever have made-- they made 3-d models of the characters and then turned them into sprites.
That always, ALWAYS looks like garbage. And when it doesn't look like garbage (Donkey Kong Country), it still looks too artificial. This is a major problem I have with games like DKC and Super Mario RPG.

The 2-d animations in Fire Emblem were great to look at before, and they could have been better on DS. But no.

That game does look ****ing horrible.

It's a great game, the sprites just suck.

Alright, the fight-scene sprites sucked, true enough, but I thought the character portraits and the maps were pretty cool.

Wrong. Ike and Soren weren't even suggested, let alone were they canon. The only canon couples in FE10 are Elincia and Geoffrey, Naesala and Leanne, Boyd and Mist, and Sothe and Micaiah.

Many were disappointed that Ike and Elincia weren't a choice.

Radiance games. Boyd is an axe guy. He's pretty much Ike's rival throughout PoR.

As much as you don't like this pairing, IkexSoren was greatly suggested, far more then IkexElincia I think. Homosexuality is actually pretty common theme in Fire Emblem. From the top of the head I can remember HeathxLegault, and that girl from Radiant Dawn. I don't even bother much with pairings besides the canon ones, but I think its quite noticable. >_>

(They're still not canonical I know, just thought I would put in my two cents)

Anyhow.

Its been quite a while but I'm still a big fan of the series. My favourite of all of them is still FE7. The characters are fantastic with great development, and I loved the fact that you're technically in the game. I mean, with all the characters turning to talk to you for advice, or their opinion. Some parts of the game and one part in FE6 still makes me cry. Yes I'm a wuss, shuddup.

Specially the deaths, like Ninian in FE7, and in FE6 Hector. Even though the scene wasn't well done in 6, the fact that you spent a whole game with him its rather depressing. ;-;

I loved the fact that you're technically in the game. I mean, with all the characters turning to talk to you for advice, or their opinion.

I think that's a great idea that's rather unsung. You can get a whole lot of story a different way by sitting down and having a conversation between a character and "yourself", even if the character is the only one that talks.
I liked the downplayed-but-important role you had in the story. It was an interesting way to do things. I've also noticed that since both FE7 and Advance Wars (the original), which were the first times they did this as far as I'm aware, neither series has ever included a feature like this again. (Although in Advance Wars it was entirely pointless.)

Nope. It wasn't suggested at all. The reasons people have for believing this are just fanfiction. The scene where Ike hugged Soren? Ike only did it to comfort a close friend because he was sad. I actually know this from experience, having been hugged by a girl for comfort myself for the same exact reason once (reason being I was sad and in tears just like Soren was). Soren's loyalty to Ike? That can be explained by the fact that Ike saved the guy's freaking life. I'd be loyal to anyone who kindly offered me their lunch because I was near starving to death.

The fact that Ike hasn't married yet? Elincia was taken by Geoffrey. I think Ike did love her, but he hid it because he knew he was supposed to dislike the lives of nobles and royalty. If people were to find this out, Ike would be questioned and some may even think he lied all that time. Shinon even accused Ike of being in love with Elincia, plus he (Ike) held hands with her at the end of PoR. Ike and Elincia were alone together a lot, in both games actually.

And yes, it is irony that Ike fell in love with a princess. Irony is something that can make a story interesting. I found it really fascinating myself when I first put all the hints together.

Yes, I do theorize about/research the FE series, particularly Ike's games. I've even determined Ike's age, how he got so strong in RD, and came up with a couple theories on what could have happened between him and Elincia if he truly was in love with her before Geoffrey came into the picture.

Soren is definitely gay for Ike, even if Ike doesn't even know he is gay.

You're right, it is highly unlikely, but you do realize there's about an equal chance of him being gay for Soren as him being in love with Elincia, right?

I'd say there is an equal chance between Soren and Elincia. The way Soren reacts to Ike's death is similar to Elincia's, and the ending mentions Ike being the only one Soren ever trusted. So there is an equal chance of Soren and Elincia loving Ike romantically, even if Ike isn't gay himself.

((I have never played past the first couple chapters in the GCN game, so I may just be pulling things from my ass))

I theorize they might have done this due to the irony of Ike being in love with a princess since he's expressed several times that he dislikes the lives of nobles and royalty. IS probably wanted to let Ike keep his love for Elincia hidden due to this, like I said before.

Also, relationships are a part of FE. They happen in like almost every game.

Also, the reason Soren only trusts Ike is because Ike FREAKING SAVED HIS LIFE WHEN HE WAS LIKE MORSELS AWAY FROM DEATH. Jeepers.
