The Fire Emblem Discussion and Crack Pairing Thread

The Tellius arc is pretty "meh" to me.
I really like FE7 and probably by association the other GBA games.
I also liked FEDS (Shadow Dragon). Despite the fact that the game had no story whatsoever and every character was bland as can be, it was perfect for what it set out to be-- a portable update to an old NES game. It was a great handheld time-waster.

No way. Most of us probably haven't even played half of those. It's best the way I put it.

Anyway, I forgot to mention music in the first post. Personally, I think FE has the best music I've ever heard in video games. Intelligent Systems does an amazing job with it! My favorite songs are the FE Theme, Eternal Bond/Ike's Theme (mind you, I loved this song before I knew a single thing about Ike other than his existence), Victory is Near (FE9), Stalwarts Unite (FE10), and Life Returns (FE9). Just beautiful and amazing music. <3

I don't disagree with your method of grouping the games, but I don't think it's best either.

If you ask me, you could have gotten away with knocking off the NES games and spelling out all the other ones. I doubt anyone cares about the NES games.

And I don't know the names of all the Japan games. Just stop complaining, and be glad I included your beloved old emulated cartridge games at all.

I'm going to have to say that Path of Radiance was my favorite Fire Emblem game. I felt most engaged in the story, I suppose... And hehehhehe, the Pokemon sets are invading every corner of the site...

It's not like anybody actually cares about the poll. Either way it'd be horribly inaccurate, so it's not like it's going to be indicative of anything meaningful.

Anyway, I do like that RD added a save feature. People argue that it makes the game too easy and takes out any challenge, but I say it takes out a lot of frustration and repetition.

EDIT: Although I thought FEDS's save points was a good compromise. It kept the tension and challenge of not losing your units so often, but didn't make you replay the whole level.

The save feature was actually introduced in 4, though it was basically a requirement in that game since the maps were so ****ing huge, and it would be asking too much of the player's patience to redo the whole thing.

I had heard that, but since I never played any of them and I wasn't sure, I didn't want to assume.

Oh, I see. You can't make a thread only for the Japanese games, because it would either get locked or merged with this thread.

My favorite game of all is Radiant Dawn. This game basically took everything I loved in PoR and made it many many times better! Including the music, returning characters, gameplay, weapons, and more. You could now climb ledges, make staff wielders and laguz in human form counterattack, bombard enemies from above on ledges, class up to new awesome classes (Reaver, Silver/Gold Knight, Trueblade, Marksman, and Ike's Vanguard FTW), use new weapons, and more.

Ike even gains the ability to use both swords and axes once he classes up to Vanguard, which rules, because he gets to use the coolest axe ever in the final chapter: the almighty Urvan, which was once Greil's. I also really liked the plot and cutscenes of this game. Really ****ing awesome!

Btw, I created a new lord who is pretty much the main character of my FE fic (though Ike appears as a pretty major character himself as well), would anyone like to hear about this new character?

...Seriously, though, Florina's gotta be one of the best units in the series (from my extremely limited-- read: almost no-- knowledge on the series). Nothing ever hit her by endgame, and if it did, it usually didn't do any damage or did minimal.
Seriously, she was like my favorite unit in FE7.

I support this man and all his endeavours.

Lyn > Florina > Rebecca > Hector. I admit I did not use him much.

For me, it goes Eliwood > Sain > Kent > Erk

My memory of the FE7 characters is kind of blurry though.

And as I said before, if anyone would like to hear about the lord I made up for my fanfic, I'd be happy to tell. :3

I've only played the GBA ones (FE7 and FE:SS), but I really liked them. I'm considering getting the Tellius series. There is always a Pegasus Knight that tends to get my attention. In FE7, Florina had that position. I just liked her character and her potential. In SS, I'd say Tana holds that position as favorite Pegasus Knight. I don't really know why. I like Lyn, due to her being rather different than most other Lords (except for, as Crystal so defended, Ike, who may or may not be even more different from the other Lords). Hector was a great character in FE7, since he basically symbolized the potential difficulty of FE7. He was probably the hardest Lord to use, and his story was the hardest and longest.

In FE:SS, I'd say my favorites were always the rookies, since they were potentially the most powerful units in the game. I also liked using Artur as a Bishop, since it made him a complete beast against monsters. Whenever I used Myrrh, though, I always did love it, because she was so goddamn powerful. I basically just leveled her up with her first 20 uses of her Dragonstone in the Tower of Valni and then saved her up for the last couple bosses, as well as the last floor of the Lagdou Ruins.

I also loved all the possible pairings through support conversations. I always made sure that I had fulfilled certain supports by the end of each games. Mostly, I stuck to these:

DartzxRebecca (I feel kinda bad for Will, but I think a reunited family is better)

These are the pairings I like best and still do like, even though I decided on them before I knew which were and were not canon.

Ninian's character just seems to intrigue me. Maybe it's just me, but she seems a lot like Florina, but a bit more mysterious.

I guess no one wants to hear about my new lord. Oh well, I shouldn't keep bringing it up anyway.

The pairing I'm most disappointed in not seeing is IkexElincia. I mean COME ON, all the hints in PoR made it so darn cute. And many fans were disappointed that it got scrapped in the next game. Geez loueez, IS, why'd you have to go and do this to poor Ike? They were perfect for each other. ;_;

Then again, I did find a way to bring them together in a fully sensible way in my fanfic...

You know, after seeing a pic of Elincia, I could see why people would like her and Ike. She's a pretty character.
