Ubisoft has disgustingly bad tech support and does not care about its customers.
I'd like to share an experience that I've had over the last couple of weeks regarding Ubisoft's online tech support and Prince of Persia for the PC. I posted the following message on their official forums a few minutes ago, which I think sums things up nicely.

Ah Ubisoft, the Uwe Boll of video gaming. It's strange indeed that they treat customers like this.

There comes a time in every technically competent person's life when he calls tech support and realizes he or she knows more than they do, and that the tech "support" is just following a flow-sheet to try to move on to the next customer as quickly as they can. I had a similar problem with Activision years ago, and you pretty much come away from it learning "tech support is useless" unless you're one of those folks who barely knows how to operate the power button. And this isn't just Ubisoft and Activision either. Call the tech support of your favorite game developer that you love to love; it probably won't be much different. Hell, you can probably go on the internet and find customer support "nightmares" for every company in existence.
So yeah, in short, I'm buying Assassin's Creed 2. |

Well, seeing that Ubisoft is a multimillion dollar company, I really don't expect them to give a ****. That's no reason for tech support to be such dicks though, and you have every right to complain.
On a more supportive note, Prince of Persia is terminally awful anyway. If someone stopped you from playing it, then they did you a good service.

Re: Ubisoft has disgustingly bad tech support and does not care about its customers.
It's not a bad game. It had excellent visual design, great music, and a nice story with a good twist. The mechanics were a little disappointing, especially considering how engaging Two Thrones or even Sands of Time was, but it was at least nice to see something new. The combat was fun, an improvement on Sands of Time that hearkened back to the one-on-one combat of the older PoP games, but it was rather one-dimensional and repetitive. If anything, PoP was a lot like Okami, and everybody likes Okami.
But oh no, PoP is part of a long-going series made by a large company, while Okami is an original entry by developers now out of business, so excuse me while I go wank off to Okami now. I'm a better critic for it. |

That thread title doesn't leave much room for discussion, does it?
Tech support has ever, and always shall be, a frustrating and completely unhelpful experience. I see no reason to consult a company about its product--most of them are only there to answer the phones, or explain to non-tech-savvy consumers that "our product are shiniest yay". Or to sit on their asses and make money. If you need help, use Google. She is your friend, offering the information you need when you need it. When you consult douchebags, don't be surprised when they behave like douchebags. Take solace in knowing that they hate themselves far more than you do.

Well, aside from Assassins Creed 2, I'm really not planning on getting any Ubisoft games in the near future.

Re: Ubisoft has disgustingly bad tech support and does not care about its customers.
Most game companies are this useless. It's nothing new.
Bioshock is bad to the point where I can barely even move my mouse in the game, yet there has been no patch, and no official response on the issue. This is an award winning game we're talking about, and they still don't even give a crap. I had to look on their forums (2K Games) and read up on some user fixes that involved making some value changes in some of the settings files for the game. Even after the tweaks aiming is still not very responsive, but it is at least bearable. It's not a glitch that happens for everyone so I guess they just didn't care. "Screw the 5% who can't play the game, they mean nothing to us." That's what they must be thinking.
