The Tokyo Game Show 2009 Thread of Announcements, Shocking Betrayals and Hype!
![]() Introduction of Fall Fall. Along with the cool weather, football games and the turning of the leaves, fall brings the advent of the gaming enthusiast's busiest time of year. As if the beautiful scenery and plethora of game releases were not enough, however, the industry brings two final offerings to the season to overwhelm the senses. These events are the Tokyo Game Show and Nintendo's October Conference. The second biggest gaming conference of the year behind the Electronic Entertainment Expo, The Tokyo Game Show is Eastern developer's big chance of the year to show off their newest and greatest products. This year, the conference is running from Thursday, September 24th to Sunday, September 27th. An important fact to remember about TGS is that Nintendo does not attend the event, instead choosing to have their own private press events in each territory a few weeks after the TGS event. This does not mean that Nintendo systems do not have any presence at the show! Third-party Nintendo developers use the event themselves to announce and demonstrate their new products. All together, however, it should be noted that for some people, TGS always seems to fall flat; Understandable considering one of the best developers and platform holders is not making an appearance. For discussion and more information on Nintendo's Fall Conference, please follow this thread. Unlike E3, the Tokyo Game Show does not hold individual conferences for each game company. Instead, the event holds a series of keynotes, with one main keynote headlining the show. This year, TGS will be keynoted by Kaz Harai of Sony, giving a presentation called "A New Strategy for 2009." In the past, everything from the Wiimote to Microsoft's newest Xbox 360 dashboard features have been announced at TGS keynotes, so make sure to grab a stream or live feed when the time comes around. Thursday, 9/24: -Sony Computer Entertainment New Strategy 2009: 10:30-12:30AM Local Time, 09:30pm (EDT), 06:30pm (PDT), 02:30am (BST), 03:30am (CEST). -Panel Discussion: Strategies and Visions of Top Makers in the Global Era Quote:
-Adapting the ‘Gears of War’ Franchise for Global Consumption with Michael Capps, President of Epic Games. 11:00AM-12:00PM Local Time Quote:
-The Official TGS Website. -Capcom's TGS page. -Anoop's coverage of Nintendo's Kyoto Event. -Square-Enix's TGS page. -Namco-Bandai's TGS Website. -Andriasang ~ Anoop's blog which will have great coverage of the event. 1up's TGS page is up! And finally, a copy of the floor layout for the Tokyo Game Show. ![]() ~Stay tuned for future updates!~ And with that, I turn it to you. What do you hope to see at TGS 2009? What do you expect? The event is only a couple of weeks away. Until then, get hyped!

I never watch any of this. But when they showed Resident Evil 5 last time, I got a certain interest. So if I hear about any good game titles that they show, I might see more of it.

Impressive as always Mr. Wonderful. I always look forward to the TGS more than E3 because this is where the smaller developers show of there products and imo more interesting announcements are made. Also the New Phoenix Wright spin off will be shown (I'm not 100% on that) so it''ll be nice to get some real details on that.

Re: The Tokyo Game Show 2009 Thread of Announcements, Shocking Betrayals and Hype!
was my first thought.
I had actually forgotten about TGS for a while. I think it'd be better for me to avoid the hype and look at all the news after the show, because I got pretty needlessly worked up during E3

Sony Japan teasing a new game to be revealed at TGS?
GAF, via Anoop's blog, has a lot of new information on the event. A floor map has been added to the OP. A list of confirmed titles to be shown has been added to OP. Please check it out. A new 2D Sonic game is rumored to be unveiled by Sega soon. TGS would be a prime opportunity. Nippon Ichi prepping new PS3 games? Microsoft is also rumored to be reveiling a string of new titles. Times for the keynote have been adjusted in the OP for different time zones so we all know when to watch now!

I enjoyed SA1 and 2, but none of the other 3-D Sonic games.

I've given up on Sonic as a franchise, but I'm still rooting for Project Needlemouse.

Is Capcom still going to unveil some games there? I'd like to see a Mia Fey: Ace Attorney.

Re: The Tokyo Game Show 2009 Thread of Announcements, Shocking Betrayals and Hype!
Is it official that Needlemouse is gonna be shown at TGS? I mean, they just released a teaser trailer for it, it seems odd to release a teaser then less than a month later show what the game actually looks like.
Other than that, I want to see the new American characters for Tatsunoko vs Capcom. I'm hearing rumors of Frank West, which makes me ![]()
