Who is a more memorable character: Link or Mario?

Link is more memorable.

I would say mario... because he is nintendo's primary character and has remarkable personality.

Despite the fact that link has more achievments than him... he is still more obscure towards the people that are not fond of games... unlike mario that is recognized by many...

As much as it pains me to say it, I believe Mario is more memorable than Link. Like many others have said Mario is Nintendo's main character and is quickly recognized by people who live for video games and people who have never picked up a controler in their life. *sorry Link*

That's not the question, though, is it? The poll is about "memorability" not which one you like better.

I would have to say Mario is the more memorable of the two.
I mean, everyone knows who Mario is. Those games are way more popular too.
Plus, Mario has a specific personalty, has a voice you can't miss and lines that are well-known by many. "Here we GOOO!!". He is very colorful, both in his clothing/appearance and personality.
He is like the Mickey Mouse of Nintendo.
Link is more of a blank character, like a blank canvas. He has no voice and rarely shows emotions. I think this is so the player can reflect him/herself onto Link. YOU are Link when you are playing the game. So, you don't really think of him as much. It was more your journey, not his.
But I think the Zelda games are more memorable. At least, this is only my opinion.
And a hard choice to make seeing as I grew up on both and can never forget either.

I'll give mario some credit sure, after all he was nintendo's most popular charater. But really, Link has got way more kick butt moments than Mario. When you come down to it, its a short little plumber vs a sword wielding timeless, chosen hero from hyrule. I give it to Link for sure!

So Link's ventured to the ends of space and back, flying at metoric speeds through the stars, restoring the universe itself to it's fomer state? Mind you, that was just Mario's more recent escapade. Mario may hail from a more cartoony series, but that doesn't make his best moments any less epic. This coming from a Zelda fan before anything else.

Yes, mind you there are both equaly respectable and both contain epic moments, I personaly find the concept behind LoZ much more entertaining than Mario, but thats just me.

Link is a more memorable character because goes out and does stuff like... not eating mushrooms like Mario all he does is jump on enemy's while link has a sword... A SWORD

Oh and did i mention he's not plumber no offense to you guys who like the Mario franchise frankly i find those games quite boring. Meanwhile in the Zelda franchise you fight monsters, awesome boss's, and they all have great story lines you can't forget the great story lines.

I think Mario is more memorable. Come on, he's Nintendo's mascot. And I think non-gamers who don't know Link, do know Mario.

I don't think the thread starter meant which is more immediately recognizable. I mean, you can't honestly tell me that Mario has a fonder place in your heart than Link, can you?

Maybe I'm just a special case, but Mario never appealed to me very much. Sure, the games are pretty fun, some more than others. But as a character, Link's far better, in my opinion.
