Re: Best Boss Fight Of All Time?
I liked the Bird Colossi the best.
As far as my favourite boss ever, I'd say the second 'fight' with Mysterio from Spider-Man 2. Truly an epic battle of atrition, that can last hours, even days. Makes The End look like Decoy Octopus if you get what I mean.

Re: Best Boss Fight Of All Time?
I know this isn't really a boss fight, but I'm still including it cause it was hard as ****. The bowser match in the original Mario Golf on the N64.
I've only beat him once, and man did it feel good. I'm actually scared to restart my game now. ![]()

Re: Best Boss Fight Of All Time?
I wouldn't say these are the best, but I enjoyed the Ansem and Xemnas fights from Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, and the final boss in Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones.
PoP:TTT was great if only for stabbing that snake bastard right in the heart after the Matrix pivot cliche. I was in a daze by that point and automatically clicked the quick-time button before realising it was there. |

What about the one where the game allegedly freezes? Or the fake Game Over screen after the Joker shoots you? I swear, Eternal Darkness was never this convincing.

Re: Best Boss Fight Of All Time?
I take back my previous statement. The section where you have to fight Salazar's minion in the basement in Resi 4 is probably my favourite boss fight ever. I know you can kill him now, but first time it was ****ing horrifying waiting for the lift.

Re: Best Boss Fight Of All Time?
Fighting Golbez in Final Fantasy IV. You fight him right after fighting a creepy doll like boss. First he lets you get some attacks in, and then he paralyzes the entire party, summons a black dragon that instantly kills the party off one by one. When he's about to kill Cecil, the main character, Rydia the summoner comes back from the dead (she was thought to have died from Leviathan) and kills his dragon with a holy dragon. Then Golbez casts wall change so Cecil has to cast Libra before attacking him with the right element.
If you don't heal Rydia (shes weak and low leveled) after every other turn she dies. If your unlucky and Golbez attacks her directly, she dies. If she dies then you will spend a turn reviving her, and the next turn before you can heal her, Golbez attacks both of you. Also if you cast the wrong spell, he gets healed and you have little chance of surviving any longer. If you lose then you have to fight the dolls again. (6 dolls. if you don't kill 4 in one move then the remaining will explode to morph into a big one, and even if theirs one left, it will somehow turn into a big one. (wtf) The big one is tough and if you beat it then you fight 6 all over again. Also, if Cecil is dead when Golbez summons the dragon, you lose. The best is yet to come! Right before you go into the last dungeon to fight the final boss later in the game, you find out Golbez isn't the final boss! I don't care at this point, I want him dead! Kain too! He's a traitor that screws with the team every chance he gets. They were both "mind controlled" so that's their excuse. Bastards.

Re: Best Boss Fight Of All Time?
This isn't really a "boss fight", but...
![]() Seriously, this fight will rip your heart out through your throat, tear it to pieces, and shove it back up your ass. The story itself surrounding this fight isn't particularly novel, but the way it's presented is heartbreaking and exceptionally well-done. EDIT: I know that image isn't from the actual game, but you get my drift.

Re: Best Boss Fight Of All Time?
Final Fantasy's villains may not be perfect, but they sure do know how to show up in style at the final battle.
Anything from Shadow of the Colossus is up there. The early Sonic the Hedgehog titles are worth mentioning. When I was a kid, it was always cool to see what Dr. Robotnik had cooked up for the end of the stage.

I'd say either Kefka or Psycho Mantis. Yeah, I'm original.
I swear this thread has been done before.
