The fans spoke and we listened.
For those that recall the God of War survey conducted earlier this year, an overwhelming amount of the community suggested the PlayStation 2 experiences of Kratos be brought forth to the PlayStation 3.

Thanks to your feedback, we are excited to announce the God of War Collection for this Holiday Season. Now fans and newcomers to the series can experience the epic journey of God of War and God of War II in 720p HD form. Both titles have been remastered with anti-aliased graphics, running at 60 frames per second for a smooth gameplay experience, only on the PS3 system. Additionally, the Blu-ray Disc compilation will bring the PlayStation Network (PSN) trophy support to the franchise for the very first time.
This is your chance to experience God of War is its true form before the chaos of God of War III hits store shelves come March 2010.

Holy crap. Why not 1080P though? I can't complain, I need to get it regardless. I'd honestly rebuy my entire PS2 catalog (which is massive) if they did this for all of them.

I was just telling my friend last night that I wanted to buy a Ps2 just to play the first two god of war games this is awsome and the price point is perfect.

Is it pathetic that I am actually looking forward to the trophies as well?

pretty cool for those who have yet to play them (where the hell you've been?) I'm probably not gonna get them since my ps3 is backwards compatible and I have the originals for both games, so no other reason for me to get it besides the trophy support, but i'm okay on that.

This is awesome. Beyond awesome. It's awesome awesome.

But why no 1080p if God of war 3 is native 1080p? It makes little sense. You can run both God of wars through emulation on 40GB/20GB PS3's ect. and get 1080p scaled.
On the topic of Blu-ray disc, I hope that if Left 4 dead comes to PS3, that Valve compile Left 4 dead 1+2 on there.

It's not the same engine as God of War III, just a pumped up version of their native engine.

If you just want scaling, scale the rerelease to 1080p.

I still don't see why a last gen game can't do native 1080p on next gen systems.

Could it be possible that the said emulation is flawed because the game was never meant to be ran in 1080p?

Are you aware of projection lag? it's a feature that plagues many HDTVs and games are the only medium that feel the impact of it. If the developers weren't able to get the response time for it right, they must have just scrapped it.

This is just my guess anyway. But based on experience, games made for less than 1080p should STAY BELOW 1080p.

What do you mean "never meant to be ran"? You mean how a console scales images after rendering natively?

since i already have both games, i would have much preferred if sony kept the backwards compatibility feature on the ps3 so it wouldn't look like such blurry crap on my 46" 1080p lcd.

well sorry for my bitterness, it is still cool none the less.
