A huge chunk of the enjoyability of Fallout 3 and Oblivion comes with the endless possibilities that modding offers. As for Mass Effect, the combat interface is designed much more intelligently in the PC version than in the 360 version. Sure, I guess you can say they're good on the 360, but WRPGs are only great on the PC. It's one of the genres meant to be enjoyed on the PC, like the RTS (Just like genres such as the JRPG are meant to be enjoyed on consoles).

My thought is, if there is ever a choice between a PC version and a console version, the PC version is always the winner. Well, almost always *mumbleDevilMayCry3mumble*. A PC port can be really shoddy in some cases, but it's rare. As long as you have the machine, the PC is a clear winner. |

Re: The List
I highly suggest you look it up.
If you enjoy open-ended WRPG's, that is. If you like games based on exploration, items, skills and sidequests, with action only serving as an obstacle, then this is the game for you. Quote:

Re: The List
Any particular reason why, or do you just feel like being contrary? Not that it matters, since I'll be ignoring your posts from now on for calling AC2, DMC4, Castlevania, and Pure (putting aside some of the slightly lesser games listed) mediocre.

Re: The List
Mirrors Edge is not worth the buy. A rent definitely, but, not at all worth the 60 bucks.
You should add: Modern Warfare 2 Battlefield Bad Company 2 Battlefield 1943 Mass Effect Mass Effect 2 Shadow Complex Splosion Man The Orange Box

Seems like maybe money isn't a big concern, since you listed like... however many games. I'll do a little list. These are from personal experience, I'm not listing anything I haven't played. Worth the price tag... Halo 3 Call of Duty 4 Resident Evil 5 The Orange Box Bioshock Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 Shadow Complex Viva Pinata There's also ODST and Modern Warfare 2 to consider, if you like Call of Duty or Halo. Devil May Cry 4 is a lot of fun while it lasts, but I'd call it a $30 game, opposed to $60. I got about 20 hours out of it, but didn't really feel the need to play it again. Good game, but not amazing. I've also heard from friends that Mirror's Edge isn't at all worth buying, very short experience that supposedly gets old rather fast, though I've never played the game myself. No comment on Assassin's Creed, Castlevania, or Pure, because I either greatly dislike or just don't care about them. Edit: Batman: Arkham Asylum looks like it's going to be game of the year, so I'd recommend it, even without any personal experience that goes outside the demo. |

Yes, but there's been more then enough footage and commentaries to give me no doubt about it's quality.

Modding fixes that. Quote:
Personally, here's the way I like to view the differences between JRPGs and WRPGs. It's like the type of DM you get when playing DnD; on one hand, you have the DM who can tell a very good story but is very strict with the rules. That's the JRPG DM. Then you have the DM who isn't really focused on the story but allows alot of freedom in his sessions. That's the WRPG DM (To be fair, this isn't always the case; Mass Effect is heavily focused on its narrative, for example, even though it's not a JRPG). I enjoy both breeds.

Your list looks fine to me except, why buy Version 1 of a game when you can buy Version 2, which is usually superior in every way. If your worried about the story, you could always ask a friend or something. Also, your going to have enough money to buy an Elite, plus all of those $60 games? I suggest making your list shorter, and adding Oblivion to the list, as many people have said, it's a game that will last you a long time. I also suggest getting it before others, since it will last you a long time, in between the purchases. Oh, and if we're adding games that haven't come out yet, Final Fantasy : XIII, and Modern Warefare II. Another thing, that's very important, are you going to be getting Xbox Live? If so, I suggest Left 4 Dead 2. Great multiplayer game, atleast the first is.
