The games themselves will still play fine. The only problem that some games have things that are hard to see or read in them. Text in games like fallout and Street fighter become almost impossible to read unless you are up close to the tv. While dark games such as Condemned are almost unplayable because of all the black and tiny text. It all depends on who made the game really. Before I made the switch to HD I had a good sized SD and all those problems were there, as I only mentioned games that I have played myself. There may be more.

I am so getting a Ps3 Slim now, so I can get The Last Guardian... The Last Guardian FTW.

I prefer the piano black color with the glossy finish as opposed to the matter finish of the slim. Still it looks cool.

True. Im considering a purchase of either one of these newer remodeled (and more importantly cheaper) PS3s or a 360. I dont know which one i would like more. I do want another console with a more...errr...interesting library.

I have a decent gaming PC, a PS3, and a 360. I think there's room for all of them if you can afford it.

Yeah I'll eventually get my hands on a PS3. Eventually.

Already own a laptop gaming rig, and a X360. Both great entertainment pieces. My PS3 will soon come...

I like the new look. I hope this revitalizes the PS3, I want a larger and better gaming library. And what's coming up on the horizon as far as game wise is pretty tempting also.

Remember when I said, long ago, how that the Wii would eventually be higher priced than the PS3? Crazy fanboy talk, right? Well, we are almost there. Almost. If Wii can keep selling decently at $250, it shows how these Dinosaurs are price cutting themselves to oblivion.

What does Sony hope to achieve with the PS3 Slim? Slightly increased sales? When MS responds, the competition will leave both companies where they started with slightly less money.

First, how is it funny? There was a PS2 slim too. If it cost less to make and uses less power, than that is just a plus.

They lower the prices because they can afford too. Both companies are still making a profit, even with these lower price tags. I really don't see why you would complain, it really helps the consumer.

If anything the Wii is long overdue for a drop, being the only system that hasn't gotten one. No HDD, bad internet and weaker technology costs way less to produce then what Sony and Microsoft is putting on the market.

Call me a fanboy if you want, but these lower price tags are appealing to people who were holding back because of the price. I actually think that Sony will see a large increase in sales from this. This is a really good deal.

Seriously though, it's not hard to see what Sony is trying to do here. By releasing a console that is cheaper to manufacture they are able to reduce the price without taking a hit financially. They've needed a lower price point for some time, so it's good that they have finally done it. Will this be enough to pass the 360 in sales? Who cares. Gamers now get to save money when they buy a new PS3. That is all that matters here.

$299 US? That's...about $370 AU dollars.

So, what'll the price be in Australia?

$500 AU dollars.

Meh, I'm not going to buy it anyway so I guess I can't personally complain. It's still a $200 price cut.

Now, where's my backwards compatibility?

Buying. I always said I'd get one if there was a price drop, and now with Toriko (shaddup, you all know the Last Guardian sucks as a name), it is a must. I just need to get £45 odd more from somewhere.

Finally, price cut! I'll get to play all the PS3 games I've been drooling over.
