What RE5 and Left 4 Dead have taught us about the Zombie Apocalypse
The Zombie Apocalypse is something to be taken very seriously. As such, several video games and books have been released to deal with this very topic. I mean, laugh now, but seriously, think about it......
...How will you deal when the zombie apocalypse hits? What RE5 and Left 4 Dead have shown us is this: 1) Find a gun / surplus store. Load up, son - taking axes and knives is fine, but really, do you wanna get that close to one? 2) Things go downhill relatively quick. I mean, sure, it starts with one person, but then it spreads at a near exponential rate. Best advice here is when you see one, shoot first, ask questions later. And, for Pete's sake, keep moving. 3) Contrary to popular belief, zombies are quick movers. Think about how the virus works: to continuously keep you awake and moving, your metabolism must be through the roof. This, in turn, makes those infected ravenous for flesh, which is full of protein and fats. Fueling the metabolism, you have seemingly endless energy to give chase for what seems like endless amounts of time. Thus, to neutralize the speed, keep a one shot kill handy - shotguns or magnums work best. 4) Zombies come in waves. As I said, when one gets infected, a hoarde gets infected. Thus, when the hoarde starts in on you, the best weapons are crowd sweepers - rocket launchers, grenades, mines etc. Keep a reserve supply handy, just in case. 5) Find the perfect spot. By finding the perfect spot, you have the higher ground, and sometimes a near-impenatrable defensive position. Use this to your advantage - snipers will work well here. 6) Secure an armored vehicle. With this, you not only have protection, but a storage for additional weapons. 7) Have a rally point. When things turn for the worst, have a relatively secure location to fall back and regroup. Usually, back to back tactics covering all doors works best. 8) Don't run in alone. Running in alone ensures death, as a relatively well-known member of this forum can attest. 9) Steer clear of the main road. Take side paths, high ground, etc. Numbers are usually the highest along places of dense population - aka, main roads. Steer clear. 10) Do not be afraid. These tips are just to get you through the city / away from danger. Later, I'll detail how to fortify a safe position, so you can outlast until help (if any still exists) comes. Also, what to do when you are on the road, and how to find safety. Disclaimer: The above is a fun, but joking, discussion, so have fun with comments!

If there's anything zombie apocalypse movies or horror movies in general have taught me:
Make sure you tell people your name. Don't take a shower. Don't have premarital sex. Don't split up. Don't say "I'll be right back". Don't say "How bad can it be?" |

I agree with all of that, and would like to add:
For the sake of all that is great: STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM THE SEWERS You know who you are *glares at L4D team*

Re: What RE5 and Left 4 Dead have taught us about the Zombie Apocalypse
What I would do
1 - Get all my friends and family 2 - Hightail it to the nearest non-ruined castle 3 - Fortify said castle 4 - Zombies can't claw through stone, and I doubt they can build siege weapons, so we'd really just have to defend the gate. In the event the castle has a portcullis, we're good to go. 5 - Wait for the zombies to starve (28 Days Later asks a very good question: how long DOES it take for a zombie to starve?). What if someone develops a cure? You'd feel pretty sill... dead. |
