Gaming's Trippiest Moments.

Sometimes, when I'm playing a game, I can't help but wonder, "What were these guys smoking in order to come up with this stuff?"

Here are some of my favorite examples:

-Rainbow Road from Mario Kart: You're on a rainbow. In space. While creepy neon lights in the shape of other characters show up in the background. It was pretty messed up.

-That flower level in Paper Mario: Oh god, do I really have to explain this one?

-Pokemon Pearl: Not so much a trippy moment, more like an extremely trippy cast of characters. I mean, look at this monstrosity:

WHAT. THE. ****.

So, what do you think are the trippiest moments in gaming history?

EDIT: My list will probably change drastically once I play Super Mario Galaxy, but whatever.

Girafarig is actually from Gold and Silver.

Tanetane Island from Mother 3 was one hell of an acid trip. Literally.

Oh crap, how could I forget the Mother Series?

Also, pretty much all of the Shivering Isles expansion was an acid trip. There was even a quest where you HAD to take drugs to complete it.

Fission Mailed.

Moonside in Earthbound.

The time gates in Chrono Trigger.

the game Mischief Makers.

yeah i remember the first time i played that stage in the original Mario Kart i was like "STONER TRIP!" also the music lol! those levels got weirder and weirder with each new game!

The bonus stage in Sonic The Hedgehog (the first one). That still makes me dizzy.

That scene in Twilight Princess where Link drools at the falling Ilias.

Or, goddamn Luigi World.

Moonside and Tanetane Island (EB and M3) for sure make my list. No, forget that, Mother 3 as a whole makes the list.

And now they're clouding my head so much in this topic I can't even think of other examples.

That commercial was always very weird to me.

Oh, yeah, I remember that! I forgot about that commercial. I was really angry when I went to my friend's house to play Mario 64 and couldn't become huge. I think New Super Mario Bros. was made for people like me.

Rez is ****ing amazing when you're high. There are loads of games for all three of the downloadable serviceses that are really great. XBLA has Rez, Geometry Wars, Space Giraffe. Wiiware got both the bit.trip games. PSN has Noby Noby Boy, FlOW, Everyday shooter etc.

Loads of games from last gen like Killer 7 and Katamari are pretty trippy as well.

You beat me to it! Link does look like he's on drugs during that scene. I thought the MM battle with Majora was strange in general.

Anyway, that one part in FEAR with the blood on the ceiling was pretty trippy.


And that vault in Fallout 3 with the purple lights that make you hallucinate. Oh, and the vault with Gary.

Hell, I'm going to list all of the Pokemon games as trippy. You had to be on drugs to come up with a game revolving around catching freaky monsters with capsules smaller than the monsters, walking around the world challenging people to fight with your monsters, all so you can be the champion of a sport that involves animal violence.

I've only been to the Gary Vault.
