Most epic scene in a video game?

Didin't you say it was both multiplayer online and single player? I thought you meant it was one game, and you could toggle the MMO feature.

Both of the Neverwinter Nights games have had two expansion packs.
Neverwinter Nights 1 had Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark.
Neverwinter Nights 2 had Mask of the Betrayer and Storm of Zehir.

The core games/expansions themselves can be played single-player or with up to about five other people.

Custom-made maps can be played with up to 60 (or so) people (Though you need a good server hosting that many).

Some people have made small-scale MMORPGs (Well, MORPGS) using the toolsets and 60-person limit.



What you're describing is closer to Guild Wars which, while it requires an internet connection, can be solo'd or done with a party, has a set story, and can be "beaten".

In fact, yes!

It's not a turn-based RPG like KOTOR, so that may relieve you, but the action can get a little repetitive. It has its ups though.

KOTOR is pseudo-turn-based (or maybe pseudo-real-time), isn't Jade Empire the same? It still has attack rolls and similar, they're just "behind the scenes"?

It computes damage based on stats, but the attacks are in real time, so more like an "Action-RPG". Like Kingdom Hearts, I suppose, but much, much better.

KOTOR is more like Neverwinter Nights, which as you know, is turn based. It does a good job of hiding it, but in combat, you can certainly tell turns are being taken.

Can't decide on a single best.

FFVII; the ending of Disc 1. FFVII's and FFX's endings. Mass Effect's ending. Twilight Princess's final battle (I'm not talking about difficulty, but rather, the setting and atmosphere). Just to name some good ones.

I got chills as you flew over Mushroom Kingdom to Bowser's Castle towards the end of Paper Mario. Everyone's watching that shooting star at night, hoping that their future may be bright.

And the actual battle, set on that overhang miles in the sky. Amazing (for a goofy, light-hearted Mario game no less)

Yeah man! thats a great scene! Also TTYD where the world goes dark and the chrystal stars go to the people in the world.

Oh, yes, how could I forget this. The scene prior in which all the characters are locked in detention centres until the Hulk, followed by everyone else, starts screaming for "HAALLP!" and the Agents fly in on a spaceship from a star-shaped whirlpool was also pretty cool. In fact, the entire final chapter belongs on this list.

I don't know, there's something about giving Ganondorf the Death Star that seems a bit of a cop out.

Here's mine.

-The Doom Ship crashing the star festival in Super Mario Galaxy. Too bad they won't even attempt to top this in Galaxy 2 ( I assume )

-The fight against Giygas in EarthBound

-Drago crushing the Tank in Mother 3, and the last battle and ending of Mother 3 is also epic.

-All the cutscenes in the final chapter of Sonic Adventure 2. Too bad it was ruined by Shadow's survival and all the other character development that occoured in that game getting tossed out the window. ( Also Dice Rolling Power up, and Tails horrible delivery that ruins Eggman's speech )

-Final Battle against Mother Brain in Super Metroid

-Everything concerning Drachma during and after the death of Raknahm/the Purple Gigas.

-Captain Falcon wiping out the Pikmin, Luigi taking a Hammer to the back and Dedede stealing Wario's Bike, the first two scenes with Lucas, Ridley grabbing Samus, and all the Subspace cutscenes in Smash Bros Brawl... in fact... pretty much all the cut scenes in SSE.

"Can't let you do that Starfox" ...Starfox 64.

-The Jogging scene in Punch Out, and the new training montage in Punch-out Wii.

-The ending to Contact.

-The revelation of the true villain of Viewtiful Joe.

-Racing Metal Sonic in Sonic CD. It works well with both good and bad future background/music.

-Petey Pirannah and Mario's first meeting, with the looking around and falling through the roof.

-The cutscene before, and after the Ganondorf fight in TWW.

-That loud "arrrghhh" that the first boss in Sunset Riders makes, and then he says "Bury me with my...money..."

-The final Battle in Luigi's Mansion.

-Standing in front of Old Kakariko just before killing the 20 bulblins in TP, and the wild west music just starts playing.

-Chernabog in Kingdom Hearts. ( He was epic without even trying. He would have been epic if it was just a drawing of him. He would have been epic if it was just his theme, Night on Bald Mountain. )

-The final Battle in Banjo Kazooie. Banjo Tooie's was... alright.

-And lastly, the first fight against Bowser in Super Mario RPG.

Those may be lame, but they're all that come to my mind.

I agree, that was awesome. I actually felt sad when Ganondorf died. I think Link was a little harsh, what with impaling him through the skull.

I'll post my top five.

1. The climax of WW's final battle.
2. The ending scene in TP where Ganon dies standing up!
3. The ending of FF6 when they're trying to escape.
4. The scene in the world ends with you where Megumi transforms into the final boss.
5. The Final battle with bowser in SMG, especially the music that plays!

The whole 'written in blood' thing was awesome.
