No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggles

Suda51 has made lots of improvements in the sequel and seems very promising.

Apart from perhaps the first, those all seem like subtle changes.

Also, it sounds like he fixed pretty much every complaint with the first game. (Oh, I guess that's assuming they cleaned up the driving physics.)

Add a new story on top of that, and isn't that the way all sequels are? :\

Re: No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggles

The biggest change that we've seen in both the trailer and subsequent interviews is significantly improved enemy variety. In the original most grunt enemies were the same, maybe with varying health and occasionally one carried a different weapon (but attacked the exact same). In Desperate Struggle, it's looking like we'll see enemies in all sorts of shapes and sizes, with vastly different weapons and unique attack styles to one another. In fact if you watch the video, you'll see huge guys wielding chainsaws.

To me, along with the improved overworld, those are the two most notable changes for the better.

Re: No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggles

The gameplay would be nice to change up a little bit.

I wonder if the two beam katanas can be used by two Wiimotes? Doesn't seem likely, but still.

Sounds good to me then.
For reference, the first game had 9 boss fights, and 1 extra hidden boss fight. (totaling 10)

The one thing I want from NMH2 is WiiMotion Plus support. Now, I dont want the entire game to be 1:1 sword play, as the setup they had for the last game was great, but motion plus could be used to increase the accuracy of the finishing hit (It seemed like you'd always hit no matter what direction you swung in.) As well as mini-games, a few assassination missions where you have 1:1, (Not ranked battles, the ones where it'd be like "Kill X amount of people in 30 seconds!") and a handful of ranked battles (maybe 10 to 20 out of the 50) in which something occurs and you have 1:1 control for the boss battle. You could even have some bosses that are broken up into a normal section and a 1:1 section.

Also, on the 1:1 assassination missions the enemies totally need to become rag dolls which react accurately to the direction and speed in which I strike, when they die. :3

EDIT: Just so everyone knows, the 50 bosses thing isn't really confirmed. We know there will be 50 ranks, however, we don't know if every rank will have a rank battle. Travis might skip some ranks. We also might get MORE than 50 bosses, as we can count on a couple of fights that aren't ranked battles, like the extra fight in NMH.

Re: No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggles

There's no way you're going to get 50 full boss fights. What is more likely is that Travis will jump ranks even when completing certain missions such as a race, escort, defense etc. sequence, or when he takes out a certain group of grunt enemies, stuff like that. I feel like I remembe reading in an interview that all set-pieces won't necessarily be one-on-one duels like every assassin encounter was in the original.

Re: No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggles

I dunno, I read in NP that they were "straining their character design" or something similar to that, so maybe 50 bosses isn't completely off the wall.

Especially if let's say number 50 is actually a sort of sucky assassin and a very generic fight.

And maybe some of the bosses will ally with each other, so it won't really be 50 fights, but 50 characters. And let's say there are a a fair share of of boss-teams, let's say 2 3-man groups, 4 2-man groups, something like that, then character design isn't so hard.

Re: No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggles

^ That's a lot more reasonable.

But we're not going to get exactly 50 fights the calibur of the 10 from the original.

A several person squad could affiliate with a postition, though. I know fifty is a lot, but what's not to say each fight is a good and inventive one?

Lower ranks will also "team up" to fight Travis.

Should provide some challenge.
