Wii Error - Only happens with Brawl?
I've been having my Wii for a while now; this Christmas, I believe it will be 3 years. It came out of the box running absolutely perfect. The first game I had was Guiter Hero III. Soon after, I bought Super Mario Galaxy, and eventually Super Smash Brothers Brawl. All of them worked fine, until a few weeks after I had bought Brawl. I had unlocked all of the characters, sounds, stages, and plenty of other things. Then, the worse thing possible that could have happened had happened - A whitish green screen popped up, and in green lettering were the words, "An error has occurred. Press the Eject Button, remove the Game Disc, and turn the power off. Please read the Wii Operations Manual for more information." Well, I thought that maybe it was a flaw, and I did what it told me to, and restarted my game. It went well for a while, and then I got the same screen. A week went by as I tried to figure out what was wrong, and I never could, so I finally just gave up.
It has now been well over a year that I have gotten Brawl. I have also picked up 7 more games, and all work perfectly. Today, I decided to just try Brawl, for old times sake. I started it up, and all went well. I immediately started gathering characters that I had lost[my saved file was erased]. I have gotten to Game N' Watch. Then, I got bored and decided to play Subspace Emissary. As soon as I got to the 2nd level, that damn screen popped up again. I then tried to get more characters. As I had gotten up to Sonic and the "A challenger has appeared!" screen popped up, the green screen came. Noticing it did not do this unless I went to Subspace Emissary or fought Sonic, I tried to do Events. No luck, same green screen popped up. As a last resort, I tried Online, but to no avail. Even if I do get to play a few Events, go through a few matches in Classic, or clear a few levels in the Subspace Emissary, I always end up getting that same screen. By the way, my disc is in perfect physical condition; no scratches or marks whatsoever. My Wii plays every other game I put in it perfectly. I need help; what should I do? Everything on the game has become impossible to enjoy. Even if I would keep resetting my game, when I play enough duels to where I can unlock Sonic, it will start to do it again. What should I do? Is it possible that the disc can be somehow malfunctioned? Could my Wii be able to perfectly handle huge games such as Call of Duty: World at War but not Brawl? I've tried using a cutip to clean behind the black protectors on the place where you insert the discs. I have read somewhere that compressed air can be used to clean the lens, but why would I need to if it's only doing it to Brawl? I even tried laying my Wii on its side, as one of my friends suggested. I'm at a dead road, gentlemen; what do I do? P.S. The exact same thing with the exact same kind of screen happened to my Super Smash Brothers Melee back when GameCubes and Melee had just came out, but that, I understand, as it's scratched as hell.

Re: Wii Error - Only happens with Brawl?
Same thing happened to me but way worse. Brawl just stopped working in my Wii 100%, but it works in other Wiis just fine. You may have to send the Wii to Nintendo to get it fixed (they'll do it for free, but it may be the only way). The Brawl disc is dual layered so older Wiis, like my own, will have trouble playing it and Nintendo will fix that for free.

Re: Wii Error - Only happens with Brawl?
It probably has a problem reading the disc, because its a dual layered one.
Try to find an lens cleaner. The official one is cheap, and worked for me.

Re: Wii Error - Only happens with Brawl?
I have this problem. When i got brawl it wouldnt play but my Wii was having issues anyway playing just about anything. I called up Nintendo and they had me ship it to them for no charge. They replaced my Wii and sent it back and Brawl and everything worked fine. After a while Brawl didnt work very much and soon it didnt work at all anymore. The other games are fine. It reads everything else with no problem. I knew if i sent it back id probably have to pay for it since they knew i already contacted them for this problem. So alas i did not and i still cannot play brawl.
It doesnt give me a screen with an error. It just wont play the disk at all as if theres no disk in the Wii. D: For you, i would suggest calling Nintendo and talking to them about it. They may be merciful and ship and repair it for no charge, even if you arent covered by warrenty. Its a common problem so its possible. The reason i gave up is because i already sent mine to Nintendo and i figured its probably a lost cause so i can live without Brawl. (i did get all the songs, characters, levels, etc anyway)

I've never had a problem with my Wii. It's pretty reliable.

Re: Wii Error - Only happens with Brawl?
Dread, that's counted as spam.
Best101, it can't be anything wrong with my Wii that I can't fix myself, since it plays all of my other games perfectly. Quin, do you know where on could go about buying the official lens cleaner? I doubt Wal-Mart would have it; would Game Stop? Also, the Wii has screws attaching the face cover(idk what it's called) and the main shell. I would have to get a three-sided screw bit, right? Florina Belmont, you and I have similar yet different issues. The differences, in this case, make all of the, well, difference. Your game won't run at all; mine does, until it gets the error screen. That means that my Wii CAN handle the double-layered disc. It's most likely that my lens needs to be cleaned, and I feel more comfortable doing that myself than sending it to Nintendo. Thanks to everyone who replied, despite Dread's spam that had absolutely nothing to do with the topic.

Re: Wii Error - Only happens with Brawl?
You don't need to open your wii to clean the lens, its just something plastic you put in the disc slot.
I imported mine online, but I heard you could just buy it in shops.

Re: Wii Error - Only happens with Brawl?
Trust me, I tried fixing it myself. The only solution is to turn it in to Nintendo. My Wii plays all Nintendo games (including GCN games) just fine except for Brawl.

Re: Wii Error - Only happens with Brawl?
There's your answer. If the Wii is messed up just barely it will stop working for Brawl.
