Which has better graphics? Xbox 360 or PS3?

They are about as close as you can get with two completely different sets of hardware. Probably most of the visual differences are down to the fact that nvidia (ps3) and ATI (360) handle certain things differently.

I believe it is indeed really close, and depends on the game.

I also agree that the PC has the more superior graphics. I wasn't going to mention it, but since someone else brought it up I thought I'd agree. :]

Obviously PS and Xbox fanboys are gonna vote for their system, but looking at it seriously, and its been said before, but the graphics quality is gonna differ from game to game, system to system. Frame rate, textures and many other qualities factor in on this topic. I know for a fact that back when both systems were trying to build up developer/games lists, many were saying that Sony was too demanding in the minimal standards of the systems' games and therefore quit there alliance with Sony. Some went to Microsoft, some went elsewhere. But some also felt the 360 wasnt serious enough of a gaming console and left Microsoft. So i think this issue will always dig up questions, but nobody will truly know.

"The 360 has slightly better graphics (I love my 360.)"
"The PS3 has slightly better graphics (I love my PS3.)"

Those are the answers you're going to get. They're the same.

There are only some slight differences between the multiplatform titles.

And I love how some people will get into heated arguments with people over whether graphics matter at all, whether it's only gameplay etc. etc. without realising that "zomg!" people are DIFFERENT! Some people WILL play the games only for the gameplay, whilst others WILL play them mainly for the graphics, atmosphere etc. And calling those out based on just being "graphics whores" and "unworthy of opinions" would be the equivalent of calling out people who enjoy art in general on the basis of "enjoying the stuff that doesn't matter in life" or some such.

Thank you for adding a little sense to this discussion; I'd have to say that because of the PS3's superior hardware it could produce better graphics. But since I have neither console I can't say anymore and know I'm accurate.

In some titles the 360 has slightly better visuals, and in some the PS3 does. The graphical difference between the two in games they share in common is so insignificant that it's hardly worth comparing them. If you played a game on a 360 and then turned that off and played the same thing on the PS3, chances are you wouldn't even notice the graphical difference.

The 360 could never run WipEout HD at 60fps (although since the latest update there have been framerate issues)

Not to stirr up the ashes, but I agree. Well, not [natively rendered] at 1080p, of course. That game is absolutely stunning.

You probably already know, but the PS3 can also stream HD movies. It has better support than the 360 too, unless there's a better program than I know about for streaming to the 360 (I've only tried wmp, tversity, and ps3 media sever). I would say the fact that the PS3 can stream wirelessly without any add-ons is an advantage too, but as soon as you start wanting to stream HD video you pretty much have to go wired or you'll get stuttering.

So yeah, I stick by my original post in saying both systems are practically the same when it comes to graphics.. and even when it comes to media viewing. Blu-ray is nice though, even if there are ways to watch comparable quality video via streaming on the 360.
