Best and worst video game characters?

Personally, my favorite video game character will always be Prince from Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. He's intelligent, eccentric, and somehow much more badass than he was in the slightly disappointing sequel "Warrior Within." I'm glad they brought back his original style for the Two Thrones though.





My least favorite video game character (or at least the one that gets on my nerves the most) is Sonic. Ever since Sega gave him a voice, he's been pissing me off. The 2D Sonic games were great, but ever since then . . . well, he's just been annoying.




Try to post images of the characters in case people don't know them. And don't be afraid to say mostly unknown characters if you can give enough of an explanation of why they are awesome or suck.

EDIT: Also, try not to do too many celebrities that have their own game spinoffs, or characters from games based off of movies. However, if a videogame incarnation of a character is incredibly good or bad in a way that is different from the original (for example, in the videogame Spiderman 2, Peter Parker just sounds bored the entire time) that should be fine.

I LOVE Prince of Persia. He was soo cool. I love running on walls....haha. It's funny, how throughout the game, he strips his clothes. I was like "what? haha!" (:

Despite what some people believe, playing Ike in Brawl made me go look up his games and when I played them, I practically fell in love with the guy. He's super strong, he's got a cool-looking big golden sword, an awesome personality, and he's...well, hawt. lol

As for Luigi, I've been a fan of him for years. Almost since I started playing games when I was little, in fact. I started with the Mario games when I first became a gamer, and Luigi caught my attention most. As a result, I grew up with him rather than Mario, unlike most Mario game fans. I find Luigi hilarious and really cool at the same time. Super Jump ftw!

Ugh, I could never like anything about Peach. I don't mind that she's really girly, but I did mind how annoying and "oh Mario save me!" she was. I hated her in almost every game I played that had her in it, including Smash Bros. I don't like the way she looks either. The only game I could tolerate her in was Super Paper Mario. And no, I've never played Super Princess Peach and I never want to because I hate her so much.

I should also mention Tatl and Tingle from Zelda. They come close behind Peach. Tingle was at least tolerable in two games he was in (MM and TMC), not just one. Tatl made me laugh a few times, so she's barely above Peach.

Ranny, why mention Tatl and not Navi? At least Tatl just rings a bell when she wants to talk, instead of saying "Hey, Listen!" over and over again.

And she's tomboyish, btw, not girly. She's also way prettier than Peach, imo. Flowers rule. And as Daisy says, "you know it!" ^^

I also thought Baby Daisy was the cutest of the baby characters...too bad she was just a filler. If Nintendo makes Daisy appear in a mainstream game, Baby Daisy ought to be there too, just so both have reasons to exist. >_<

AGREED. I love the Prince of the Sands of Time trilogy.

But among Prince of Perisa fans, I'm very forgiving of Warrior Within. His personality was notably changed in Warrior Within, but it wasn't a huge stretch given the events prior to the game, especially if you pay attention to the substance of the game's plot and not the superficial exterior. He's just as badass, too. He basically gives the middle finger to fate even after the big plot reveal shakes his resolve, and finally killing the Dahaka with the Water Sword was extremely satisfying. Reagardless, he's a cool character throughout the trilogy.

but remaking him for Prince of Persia 4 was a dumbass decision.

...What? Okay:

1. He wasn't "remade." The Sands of Time story was over, and ended well. No need to drag out the same characters; a new Prince was entirely appropriate.
2. The Prince from the 2008 game was himself a great character. Maybe not as good as the SoT Prince...yet, but certainly not a waste.
3. Calling the 2008 PoP game "Prince of Persia 4" means that you have to go out and play the older games. The SoT Prince was himself a "remake" of an earlier character.

Another favorite character? JC Denton from Deus Ex. The man just bleeds badass, and he discusses theology with a super-computer. Awesome.

Least favorite? Probably the entire original cast of Kingdom Hearts, especially Sora. He demonstrates the reason why so many protagonists are silent.

Because of games like Yoshi's Island. The seven star babies are Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, DK, Wario, and Yoshi. They're called so because they have special powers, like Wario's strength, Peach's floating, Luigi's Super Jump, Mario and Luigi's fireballs, etc. Daisy could've been a star child too, but she didn't make it as one. She could have had cool flower powers. xP

Right now, the only reasons Daisy exists is because of Super Mario Land, and there's hints in MKWii that there's something between her and Luigi. Baby Daisy is just an MKWii filler character.

I'm thinking in order for Ninty to include both Daisy and Baby Daisy in a mainstream game, though, they could have Daisy get turned into a baby and the Mario bros have to change her back. xP

Baby Mario should have stayed in Yoshi's Island. Adding more babies in Mario Sports games was ridiculous.

They only added one, Dread. :/

Cait Sith was the worst character in FF7, and that's saying a lot considering Yuffie and Cloud exist in the same game.

No, I admit he was a crappy character, I just like characters that can develop. I don't think it's right for people to overlook the crappy characters when there favorites are awesome throughout the game.
