What's your favorite Final Fantasy game? (Main series besides X-2 and XI)

I don't know, I just started playing it after beating Final Fantasy IX earlier. I have no idea how the hell to do anything in this game and all the explanations I've been given don't make a lot of sense, the look of the game is way too different from the other three Final Fantasy games I've played, the music isn't terribly good, etc.

There's actually a group of members here who's favorite is VIII (and that boggles my mind).



Anyway, I never finished the game because I got confused at the beginning and botched obtaining items (e.g., summons) during boss/miniboss fights.

Just view the tutorials several times. The junction system is really quite simple and easy to get the hang of.

You prefer a less realistic style, I guess.

Come on, the battle and boss themes in VIII were some of the best in the series.

Seriously. FVIII and FFX's music both rocked the rest of the series to the core.

I'm the same. I liked VIII, but I couldn't figure out how to get a lot of things to work without looking at an outside source, and all the ingame tutorials were terrible.

I got by okay in VIII, but didn't realise how much I was missing in XII until I checked a guide. I never even thought about hidden summons, and when I was playing the game I never received a hint of any side quest.

VIII was one of the most gripping ones for me. I reckon it's because the setting is modern-futuristic, and the main characters are all human, I related to that game so deeply.

I found VIII to be ridiculously easy.

FFV is my favorite. Best class system in the series (X-2's was good but not as good as V's), best dialogue (Advance version), best music, best supporting characters, best lead in the main FF games (if we were to count Tactics I'd go with Ramza). Also the characters have some of the best designs in the series but I consider FFII's designs to be the best. Just a really good package and I never felt dragged down by playing it like most FF games I've played...well, more in spots where you feel like you aren't going anywhere.

Also why not include FFXI? There's so many reasons why it's a legitimate Final Fantasy game it's ridiculous, people only hate it because they either haven't played it or don't feel the need to gain decent friends ingame to play it. Either way FFXI is really good for it's story for the mostpart, probably the best in the series.

I went with Final Fantasy IX, I've played every FF game, but only finished a few (1, 3, 7 and 9 I think?) because I lost interest in most of them. Maybe one day I'll go back and finish 'em.

Seriously, what's the incentive for me to do anything but use summons in this game? I never seem to run out of MP for them, so what's the point of doing anything but cast them?

final fantasy IX is the best game in the world (IMO) get your bum on ebay and buy that sucker right now. You will NOT be dissapointed
