Console recommendations?

I'm looking to buy new consoles. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I already have a PS2 which freezes often, so you can recommend a new one. All other consoles I own are shared with my brother except for my GBA SP. If you think I should keep it, please say so. The other consoles I own are N64 and NGC. You can recommend those as well; it's a pain in the ass to share them with my brother.

BTW mods, if this belongs in Game Recommendations V.3 please move it.

Re: Console recommendations?

It really boils down to what kind of games you like.

Do you enjoy your run-of-the-mill Nintendo franchises? Then you'll like the Wii, with its Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, and Mario Kart Wii. There are also a ton of fun multiplayer games that you can pick up like Mario Party 8, Wii Play, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Do you like the types of shooters and RPGs that don't typically make it to Nintendo consoles? Then you might be better off with a 360 or PS3. I personally don't own either, and shooters don't especially appeal to me, but I've played the 360 and enjoyed it a great deal. 360's price tag probably places it as the one I'd get if I really wanted one or the other.

I'm willing to try anything once, so it doesn't really boil down to what kind of games I enjoy. Thanks for your recommendations, though.

Re: Console recommendations?

In that case: Wii's cheap, has a larger library of games (even if you won't necessarily buy most of them) and is really fun to play with others.

Re: Console recommendations?

Buy a Wii if you:
-often have friends over to your house to play party games like Warioware, especially while drunk
-like self improvement games like Wii Fit or Big Brain Academy
-have children, nieces, nephews, etc that will be playing the console
-like the idea of your parents, grandparents, playing videogames like Wii Sports because it's easy even for newbs
-like any or all of the following franchises: Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Pokemon, Smash Bros, Fire Emblem, Donkey Kong, Pikmin, F-Zero, Star Fox
-already have Gamecube games
-don't need your console to play DVDs
-don't care about graphics
-want free online play

Buy a 360 if you:
-Play online a lot, and will pay the yearly online subscription
-particularly like RPGs and FPSs
-want another way to social network
-like any or all of the following franchises: Halo, Elder Scrolls, Gears of War, Fable, or other things that the Wii doesn't get, like Street Fighter, Grand Theft Auto, etc
-like downloadable content to expand games (like being able to download different costumes for your fave beat-em-up character)
-already have original Xbox games
-would like a console that plays all kinds of media (except Blu-Ray)
-enjoy HD graphics

I wouldn't bother with the PS3, unless you:
-absolutely have to play Metal Gear Solid 4
-want a Blu-Ray player
-already have PS2 games
-can afford it

I'm not a big fan of the PS3, but to each his own.

Re: Console recommendations?

Do you like mini games? - Buy a wii

Do you enjoy paying to play videogames online and playing a library of games "ONLY FOR XBOX 360" thats also available on PC? - Buy a 360

Are you rich and do you like video games? - Buy a ps3

Not that I'd actually recommend any console this gen, they all suck.
Buy a PC.

I recommend a PC, unless you're homosexual, then go with a console. any of them really, it'll make no difference. it's too late for you.

This hardly comes down to your opinion. The Wii's library is more vast than a few party games and you know it.

I'd recommend ...well...basically what Evilsbane said. Although I think his list for the PS3 could be a bit larger. Or a PC. I mean, with the PC you get a lot of the great Console games along with the possibility of emulation if you don't mind doing that.

Right, so this was because Forte says he doesn't like himself. I want him to like himself a bit more.

Well he said consoles, so I didn't even think of the PC. TBH, I work on the assumption that people already all have PCs.

As for the PS3, well it's not a BAD console but aside from the things I mentioned, it's much the same as the 360, which is cheaper and has a better catalogue of exclusive games. In MY opinion, anyway.

Don't make that mistake again, bromie. Forgetting the Wii fat board is inexcusable.

Re: Console recommendations?

Buy a PS3 if your a Sony fan. I like this console. Expensive but its worth it. There are a variety of games except RPG. So if your a RPG fan, I wouldn't get a PS3. There are good games coming up.

I personally got PS3 because I didn't like the design of the Xbox 360. I heard something about Xbox 360 and the red ring of death. That put me off to from buying it.

Re: Console recommendations?

PS3: Not really, unless you really need the few exclusives on it.

360: Sure, why not I say. Best bang for the buck, really. Midrange.

Wii: Another potential, since you're able to sell the Gamec- oh wait it goes for like 20$... nvm. Meh, it depends on what you want.

Re: Console recommendations?

If you absolutly need to play Zelda, Mario, or Metroid, buy a Wii.
If you absolutly have to play MGS4, and you don't mind the fact that you could buy 3 normal consoles for the same price, buy a PS3.

Otherwise, go with a 360 or PC.
