Horrible EA Port Incoming?: Left 4 Dead 2 for PS3

According to EA's site. Mistake? Possibly. Or EA is just potentially increasing the sales another 50-100% by releasing the game on the PS3 as well.

I'm not interested in the series at all, (GIVE ME EPISODE 3 NOW.), but with PS3 support from Valve most likely not existing for that version, would you really want to buy it on the PS3?

Larger point: I don't get why the hell Valve is still refusing to port the Source Engine to the PS3. At this point, they've already lost the sales of Left 4 Dead and severely crippled sales of The Orange Box. I don't understand how they could refuse to support the system when they're passing up all these added profits. Bite the bullet and port the engine over. Yeah, it might suck, but it's a one time thing and the sales from the remaining Valve games released this generation would surely cover the costs and then some in aggregate.

Well, if it gets ported, k. If it doesnt, oh well. Doesn't matter much, i havn't really liked any valve game.

I though left 4 dead 2 was only on 360 (excluding computer). The people who only own a ps3 would probably be happy to get it on their consul. Wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if it happened

The fact that they're even making L4D2 at all at this stage is still not being taken so well.

I'm not sure it would be worthwhile porting the Source engine onto the PS3 since all of their games play much better on PC.

This being said, they still put it on the Xbox.

Yeah but if you play on 360, you have the XBL community. The PS3 isn't a console that screams online much yet, it's more like 'that really competent and free online service'. When you think console online gaming, you think 360, PS3, Wii. Plus there's the fact that the engine works easier on 360, and it kind of fails on the PS3.

I see no reason for them to port it over other than literally gaining unit sales, and that doesn't seem like their style - business or not.

Well, I just hope they don't abandon their games on the PS3 like they did on the 360. They still haven't given us the downloadable content for Orange Box.

It does have a PS3 port, it's just not a very good port, as they had to rewrite most of the engine because the Windows/Xbox versions use Direct X.

I would like it. Have a ps3 and loved the look of the first one, so hell yeah I hope it comes. If it doesn't, oh well, but if it does, yay.

I'm happy. My PC is incapable of Left 4 Dead. Let's just hope that the developer is either the same one as the Orange box porters (which have experience with the source engine) or a good porting team.

The PC version will be infinitely better.

I don't even know why they bother putting Valve games on the XBox, never mind the PS3.

While I'm sure that's going to be true for L4D2 and maybe L4D1, as I haven't seen the game on the 360 versus a PC, I honestly did not notice a graphical difference playing HL2 Episode 1 and 2 on PC on highest settings over playing it on the PS3, besides slightly better loading times and a bit better of a framerate on Episode 2. DLC-wise, of course, you and 8-bit are correct.

Valve doesn't currently have the resources to work with the PS3. No one on their team has the qualifications to make the game for that system, and they do not currently have the resources to work on it without EAs help.

I once had a link to a article to support this but I don't really want to go searching for it. This little bit may suffice to Valve's anti-Sony attitude.

There's no such thing as "qualification" to work on PS3 if I'm not mistaken. All they would need is a devkit.
