This. There have been times when it's taken me longer to complete the first three missions of Perfect Dark than the entire campaign of, say, Gears of War. Although I must admit, that's because I'm trying to complete said levels using only the pistol-whip attack.

Which brings me to another great thing about Perfect Dark. Namely, replay value. The multiplayer was sublime, the weapons were both numerous and well-balanced (SuperDragon and Farsight notwithstanding), and it's physically impossible to get bored with the story campaign, even after you've completed every time challenge and unlocked every cheat. I still haven't found the cheese in most of the levels.

Symphony of Night. It does show it's age in several places; like the CGI cutscenes, the voice acting, the completely misplaced game over screen and that pop song they threw in at the end just show off the dopeness that was streaming audio. But besides that, it's still the best Castlevania game. I's probably even better than Super Metroid.

As for games that haven't aged well. Rare's 3D platformers.

Fixed.

8 looked like it was trying too hard to look realistic.

I always thought Link to the Past had great graphics and gameplay even for today's standards when it was re-released in 2001. Fire Emblem 4 and 5 still look great, even better than their GBA sequels. Wish I could say the same for 3 though.

It has barely any general direction and is extremely primitive in every way thinkable. The game was amazing at the time for its large overworld and heavy emphasis on exploration, but exploration has gone such a long way, and Zelda 1 really shows its age when put up against by far most of its current-day competitors.

That's not to say it's bad, I very much prefer it to, say, the Oracle games, Twilight Princess and Phantom Hourglass, but in a general sense LoZ really lacks in very numerous ways.
...and yet my opinion still stands. Next time pal. :/

Right, so this was because Forte says he doesn't like himself. I want him to like himself a bit more.

^ No one should be surprised by me saying this. This game is one of the few that I actually played the sequel to (TTYD) first, then went back later and played this one (thankfully on an actual N64 cartridge), and did not feel that the game was antiquated. At all. This game feels perfectly on-par with anything in the current generation. Nothing about this game felt old-- not the visuals, not the writing, not the character designs, not the battle system... this game is remarkable.

I am Zeldoom and i endorse this message.

You know what game still rocks socks though? Shadowgate! Seriously! it may be short and an NES game but it still is a fun one to play! The N64 version isnt bad either.

Seriously, Asteroids in like 30 years old and still fun as hell, even though its graphics consist of simple white lines.
Also these:

I can't say anything that this game has aged, not counting graphics of course. I can play this game and have as much fun as I do playing many of the games this generation. A true classic.

Re: Age Won't Slow Me Down! Games Who Aged Gracefully

Ocarina of Time
This one is a given

The Wind Waker
Not quite as old, but still has aged better than many games from this time period.

Tales of Symphonia
My favourite game, so it gets a mention.
This one is in the same boat (no pun intended) as The Wind Waker

Contra 3: The Alien Wars
If it's older than me and i can still play it, the game has aged wonderfully.

Perfect Dark
I can't even count the hours i spent playing this game. And i still play it. The most top of the line shooter i'll ever play.

Re: Age Won't Slow Me Down! Games Who Aged Gracefully

Lots of good games, but one i really saw age gracefully was:

Honerable mentions: Super Metroid, any LoZ, Super Smash Bros (1).

Re: Age Won't Slow Me Down! Games Who Aged Gracefully

Koulatio, ToS and WW were just last generation. I dont see how they are "old".
Maybe its just me. But yeah ToS is freakin awesome! One of the ONLY rpgs that has come out in the last ten years i can play until my eyes bleed!
also

The PS2 one just failed miserably.

Maybe you should've bought the game when it came with a ****in' map telling you exactly where things are. Jesus Christ.

Yes, I agree with that. Not having an in-game map really is a mark of old age, and not very good age.
